Where the skin glows but isn't greasy..how do you achieve that dewy look? Is it a serum?

Glossier Futuredew and either the Glossier skin tint or Fenty Hydrating foundation on top, depending how much coverage I want, work for me. Smile

Candyflossie · 06/01/2022 21:39

@BitchIAmFromChicago

Charlotte tilbury flawless filter! Or even better glow foundation by Clinique.
Love the look of it. Wish they did samples!

I have the flawless filter and just and get on with it.

No idea what I doing wrong. I look over don't and shimmery. Not dewy. Sad

dudsville · 06/01/2022 21:51

There are so many products. After trialing a few I've learned I don't like the illuminator ones with sparkle in them as they make me look fake somehow. I use oil. My routine is a balm cleanser followed by glycolic acid, then serums, then oil, then oil mixed with my foundation. Left to it's own I would have very dry skin, but this leaves me with a glow and I get compliments. It does however also mean I have to be wary of make up transfer.

@jamsandwich1

Flawless filter is amazing but I also LOVE her youth glow. I’ve stopped using foundation and use tinted moisturiser now, bare minerals is great. Also I’ve been religious doing skincare and I think that’s really helped. Cleanse twice a day, glycolic acid toner (love nip and fab pads), serum and then moisturise!
The CT sounds amazing!!

40s here. I mix a drop of facial oil with my BB cream and always get comments on my dewy skin Grin

GettingStuffed · 06/01/2022 21:57

My skin has natural glow, rarely wear makeup, however I bought this on a £10 Tuesday at boots and it enhances what I have. www.boots.com/olay-regenerist-luminous-brightening-moisturiser-cream-spf20-50ml-50ml-10191273

noblegreenk · 06/01/2022 22:24

My skin glows and I frequently get asked what I use. Makeup does help, but it can only do so much and really you need to look at your skincare routine. I alternate between a retinol on top of my night cream and facial oil every other evening. I also use a couple of different masks twice a week - a one for deep cleansing and one to hydrate. Makeup wise, I use tinted moisturiser rather than foundation, as you want to look sheer rather than cakey. I also use cream blush with a very slight shimmer and Becca bronzer, which has unfortunately been discontinued, so I'm currently looking for a replacement.

noblegreenk · 06/01/2022 22:26

And I also use vitamin c serum in the day under my makeup, as it brightens.

Milomonster · 07/01/2022 09:44

I think you need to have good skin for starters.
I exfoliate first with Nip and Fab and then use a face oil (either argan, Rosehip, or prickly pear) under my moisturizer. I use a dewy foundation and good blusher. I don’t like layering on loads of products. I manage to achieve that look.

Phantom1 · 08/01/2022 21:33

What is the definition of a dewy look? Is it well moisturised or sparkly?

falalalalalalablahblah · 08/01/2022 21:36

Sweat.

SpringIsSprung1 · 08/01/2022 21:53

Sleep in a field on a summer night😁
No help at all I know. I'm one who looks like they've been dug up in the morning!

TheChosenTwo · 08/01/2022 22:01

@AlDanvers I don’t like it either! Bought a bottle, tried it so many different ways but just ended up looking greasy! One persons greasy is another’s dewy perhaps Smile
However I do have a tendency to lean more on the oily skin type than dry so realise that something like this just isn’t really designed for my skin, it has natural dewy-ness Grin

AlDanvers · 08/01/2022 23:09

@TheChosenTwo I gave it to dd. I tried again, but still looked awful. Dd will.eother use it or give it to a friend that might. I hate waste 😪

I have faulty normal skin and it just sat there all sparkly Grin

Fatherliamdeliverance · 08/01/2022 23:34

Bobbi brown intensive serum foundation, and hada labo gel. Plus rose hip oil at night

bert3400 · 08/01/2022 23:37

Trinny of London do an amazing BFF cream, omg it makes my skin look amazing and I'm 54

Lamaitresse · 16/01/2022 18:03

40’s here too and my skin glows. Have had people commenting on it, which is nice but slightly odd Grin
I use serums morning and night, after cleansing/toning/moisturising. At the moment I use a Votary hyaluronic acid one in the morning, and at night Clarins Double Serum which is just amazing.
During the day I also use Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow which is a definite must-have product! If I could keep just one product then I think it would be this ❤️

Torres10 · 16/01/2022 21:06

I'm 40s too. I abandoned make up, aside from a little touch up concealer and sorted my skin routine as any make up just seems to either dull me or make me look like sparkly barbie!!
My biggest skincare game changer was vitamin c serum. I splurged on skinceuticals but am slowly weaning myself onto the beauty pie serum which is fab value. Lrp is also OK, though haven't found any others that compare and creams dont seem to provide the same level of dew if that makes sense :)

Ddot · 23/01/2022 18:55

I use rosehip face oil, its fabulous x

TheRemotePart · 23/01/2022 19:04

No7 hydra luminous vote here too
I’m actually not replacing my YSL touche eclat foundation as the no7 is lovely.
The No7 protect n perfect serum foundation is great as well. SPF 50 and has serum already in it
And a cream blusher.
Benefit do a natural sift highlighter too.
Powder only the oily bits.

Gonnagetgoing · 23/01/2022 19:35

For me Chanel vitalumiere foundation. Also beauty flash balm

Gonnagetgoing · 23/01/2022 19:36

Not using it now but boots vitamin c moisturiser gives a dewy finish

Yellow85 · 23/01/2022 19:38

I’ve got pretty oily skin so can’t add serums or anything like that. I just pop a drop of a pearlised liquid highlighter in my foundation

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 23/01/2022 19:49

I just bought Laura mercier translucent powder in "glow". It's a loose powder and gives a lovely finish - it is every so slightly sparkly but not overwhelmingly so. I love it.
