Where the skin glows but isn't greasy..how do you achieve that dewy look? Is it a serum?

OP posts:

An oil based foundation, not a matte one.

5128gap · 06/01/2022 13:25

Dry oil under my moisturiser. Coconut does the job. For extra dewiness olive oil under moisturiser but sparingingly .

WutheringHeights66 · 06/01/2022 13:44

Cream products such as blusher, bronzer and highlighter. I have powder products now I have wrinkles, I don’t mind dewy wrinkles.

WutheringHeights66 · 06/01/2022 13:44

*hate not have!

XiCi · 06/01/2022 13:45

You need an illuminating primer. I like the Benefit one

BitchIAmFromChicago · 06/01/2022 13:45

Charlotte tilbury flawless filter! Or even better glow foundation by Clinique.

Rupertpenrysmistress · 06/01/2022 13:47

Highly recommend Charlotte Tilbury flawless filter, got some for Christmas and have had so many compliments on my skin. Love this stuff.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 06/01/2022 13:50

Careful with oxidation of foundation over oil.

Bettybantz · 06/01/2022 13:52

Avoid powder

Guylncognito · 06/01/2022 13:53

@5128gap olive oil, really?! Why not a normal facial oil?

I started in lockdown when I ran out of facial oil and read that it had started to be used in a lot of products. Its cheap, even at the top end, always in my cupboard and full of vitamins. I figure if it's OK for my insides its OK for my face. I use it every night under night cream too and my face is like velvet.

was just coming back to the thread to say the same thing! A base of that, with a thin layer of Boots No7 HydraLuminous moisturising foundation over the top gives a lovely finish, subtly dewy, not like an oil slick.

bananagram18 · 06/01/2022 14:44

Refy gloss highlighter is a fantastic product. Also IT Cosmetics Your Skin but Better is gorgeous and dewy but not oily/shiny

Vapeyvapevape · 06/01/2022 14:50

I asked someone on a makeup counter this question, only I couldn't think of the word 'dewy' and so asked how can I achieve the 'sweaty' look !

MissusArmitage · 06/01/2022 15:49

Maybe I'm very old school...but Beauty Flash Balm by Clarins does this beautifully

LivingDeadGirlUK · 06/01/2022 15:57

I've got some Glossier skin tint coming as I want to try the same and was drawn in by the excessive marketing. I'll let you know how it goes!

IggyIggyIggy · 06/01/2022 16:07

Charlotte tilbury flawless filter Grin

jamsandwich1 · 06/01/2022 16:10

Flawless filter is amazing but I also LOVE her youth glow. I’ve stopped using foundation and use tinted moisturiser now, bare minerals is great. Also I’ve been religious doing skincare and I think that’s really helped. Cleanse twice a day, glycolic acid toner (love nip and fab pads), serum and then moisturise!

OverByYer · 06/01/2022 16:12

I use Trinny London BFF as a base gives a lovely glow

Yuppie20 · 06/01/2022 16:28

It's all about your skin rather than make up products! I wanted this so started a new skincare regime using the 10 step korean beauty regime (not always 10 things everyday!) My skin has transformed to better than ever before. I then just use a nice illuminating primer/ bb cream.
It's all about hydration! Read up on Korean skincare, really can't speak highly enough of it!

lindyloo57 · 06/01/2022 16:36

I am 61 with some wrinkles, I only use cc cream and try to use cream blushers, but I find with wrinkles if my skin is to dewy looking the wrinkles look worse, so then I have to put a little powder on top.

AcatcalledCat · 06/01/2022 16:49

For me, it’s all about setting your makeup with the right product. I use either Laura Mercier candlelight or Hourglass Infinity ambient light powder. Keeps shine at bay but gives the skin a lovely dewy finish.

InTheNameOfAllThatIsHonest · 06/01/2022 18:03

I mix castor oil with my foundation and get exactly the effect you mean, OP. You can mix them on a small plate or even on the back of your hand. I then apply with either a damp beauty blender or a (kabuki) brush.

BangingOn · 06/01/2022 18:33

Glossier Futuredew and Marcelle Golden BB cream do it for me.

GorgeousGeorgiana · 06/01/2022 18:35

I use a shimmery highlighter over moisturising liquid foundation. Both just from no 7 and not expensive at all
