I was given a gift card, £50. What would you spend it on?

Early 40s, size 8. Happy to add to the amount.

Definitely won’t buy underwear or PJs but open to other suggestions! Any gems I’m missing or should I go for a cashmere sweater?

I would wait for sparks 20% off, add a bit and buy a cashmere jumper.

hippopootamus · 01/01/2022 21:01

Percy Pigs

Verbena87 · 01/01/2022 21:01

Merino polo neck. Light, thin, warm and lovely

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/01/2022 21:21

Their cashmere really isn't very good imo.

They have some nice beauty stuff - Aveda shampoos, Neom candles.

Pinktruffle · 01/01/2022 22:48

M&S jeans are fantastic. I've only recently discovered them and love them

NaughtyNata · 01/01/2022 22:54

Loads of different brands on their website now, but I think they've improved a lot recently.

Agree their jeans are great, I have several pairs of their boyfriend jeans.

They stock lots of nice beauty brands but their own brands are great too. I love the formula absolute sleep cream and oil, and their apothecary range as well.

Lipsandlashes · 01/01/2022 22:56

I didn’t like their cashmere either. I found it weirdly itchy and not a great fit, compared to my other cashmeres.
Agree that M&S jeans are brilliant though.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/01/2022 23:01

Yes to the jeans.

NoEffingWay · 01/01/2022 23:02

Pants-m&s are the best!
A ton of nice food from the food hall
M&S x Ghost have some lovely dresses

RomainingCalm · 01/01/2022 23:06

I know you said no to underwear but my best recent buy from M&S was a full-length 'stay cool' slip to wear under dresses. I did wonder for a minute whether I was turning into my granny but clothes honestly do hang better and it's lovely and soft next to skin.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/01/2022 23:07

I love the M&S jeggings (I have 3 denim various washes - and black)
I have a pair of the jeans bit not worn them yet ( Sienna )

Love M&S non leather shoes , I have narrow feet , they do some half sizes .

No idea when the next 20% off will be there was a Sparks Card thread on S&B a while back , mainly rubbish offers (goes off to look) .......nope , no offers .

AllLopsided · 01/01/2022 23:08

Their towels are nice if you can't find any clothes! I recently bought a couple of nice shirts/blouses and have just ordered some sweatshirts, mostly because I couldn't find what I wanted anywhere else!

RampantIvy · 01/01/2022 23:12

Their cashmere really isn't very good imo.

I got a lovely cashmere jumper for my birthday a couple of months ago, and love it. I have worn and washed it several times.

I agree about the jeans.

Covidclaire · 01/01/2022 23:17

Thanks everyone. I will check out the jeans and the beauty products.

@RomainingCalm I love a slip for dresses too.

Teddy fleece bedding

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 03/01/2022 00:48

I've bought two pairs of jeans from there recently that I LOVE
Magic shaping skinny - they're similar to next hypercurve, cut to not gape at the waist, and quite a heavier power stretch type denim
Harper jeans - much lighter and softer, fitted around the bum then slightly looser. High waist but definitely not the mom style jeans

leotardrock · 03/01/2022 11:08

Their GoodMove gym stuff is great!

RovenderKitt · 03/01/2022 11:13

Stila liquid eyeshadow! I also have my eye on some champagne flutes (as DH has managed to break all but one of my special ones my late Nan bought me and I am trying to find some of a similar style)

notwavingbutdrowning5 · 03/01/2022 20:11

Good article here on what to buy from M&S right now: www.whowhatwear.co.uk/best-marks-and-spencers-pieces-2022

rookiemere · 03/01/2022 20:15

If you exercise the Good Move leggings and sports bras are great. I also buy from their bra minimiser range. Some nice perfumes as well.

GettingStuffed · 03/01/2022 20:26

I'd look through this www.marksandspencer.com/l/beauty/womens-perfume

EllaPaella · 03/01/2022 20:42

I've bought three pairs of M&S jeans this year and love them all. Harper cigarette, boyfriend and straight leg.
I also love M&S for the thermal heat-tech tops - perfect for wearing under tops and knit wear when it's really cold.
In fact I've probably bought more clothes from M&S this year than anywhere else, it's been a good year for them imo. They have some nice coats and hats in store at them moment and some lovely footwear.

MrsSkylerWhite · 03/01/2022 20:44

I’d be very disappointed with an M&S voucher because everything, food through to knickers, is seriously overpriced.

Anything on sale?

Branleuse · 03/01/2022 20:47

I see loads in there i like and theres a sale on at the moment too.
I just got these boots the other day and am really pleased with how comfortable they are and warm since theyre lined.

Another vote for the boyfriend jeans - I have 2 pairs; and the good move leggings.
