I was given a gift card, £50. What would you spend it on?

Early 40s, size 8. Happy to add to the amount.

Definitely won’t buy underwear or PJs but open to other suggestions! Any gems I’m missing or should I go for a cashmere sweater?

Thank you @RustyBear. What is the difference? I have some Sophia straight, and they are very flattering on me (if a bit tight now Sad)

RustyBear · 04/01/2022 18:47

I find the Sophia slightly looser, and they have a higher waist (the M4S website describes them as high-waisted and the Sienna as mid-rise)
They are also described as ankle-grazer length, but as I am rather short, I've never really thought of them like that.
I did notice just now that they currently only have a couple of sizes in grey available - so sadly maybe RampantIvy is right and they are being discontinued, which would really be a pity. I'm just glad I already have them in all the colours!

Thank you. My Sophia jeans aren't very loose just now Blush
Also, I am tall and find the waist is just right for me. I wouldn't want a lower rise waist.

I just bought these!

Champagne and knickers!

Mumteedum · 04/01/2022 23:50

Their Calm scented candles and oils and shower gel is fab... they have some other scents in same range. Really good quality.

Also needed some long sleeve t shirts and was v nicely surprised at quality for price. Only£8.50 a pop. Good staples for every day wear.

MaternityNurse007 · 05/01/2022 00:09

If everything else fails, There chocolates, biscuits, alcohols, flowers are lovely quality and new selection during spring/ Easter is around the corner 😋

@MrsSkylerWhite

I’d be very disappointed with an M&S voucher because everything, food through to knickers, is seriously overpriced.

Anything on sale?

really? Its a mid-priced department store. Its not primark prices, but id hardly say it was "seriously overpriced". Its generally decent quality things in there and if its normally out of budget then surely a £50 voucher is nice to treat yourself
RampantIvy · 05/01/2022 13:02

M and S isn't cheap, but it isn't seriously overpriced. Where do you normally shop? And surely, having a £50 voucher means that you have a chance to treat yourself?

LoveLabradors · 05/01/2022 13:36

Good beauty department. I have a voucher to spend too. I don’t rate M and S food anymore, it had seriously declined as have their ethics. They charge an awful lot for food that is now full of cheap (and non ethical) palm oil and most of their meat is appallingly produced battery chicken (but at high prices). I was honestly shocked at how palm oil is in everything - it’s a very cheap filler ingredient - how can they charge premium prices? M and S food used to be great years ago but has long ceased to be so and is trading off past glory.

coronafiona · 05/01/2022 13:54

I love their gym kit

rapthisup · 05/01/2022 14:01

Shay and Blue perfume, candles, premium beauty products such as Aveda, Emma Hardie cleanser or Occitane shower gel.

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 05/01/2022 19:18

I love their "slim balloon" jeans, they're a nice nod to current trends without verging on the M.C. Hammer and they're super comfortable.

That’s almost the exact instructions it was gifted with, treat yourself (i.e. don’t use it to buy food or clothes for the kids!).

Thank you for all the great suggestions. I’m going to order a few pairs of jeans to try. I’m forever stuck in a skinny rut so may even branch our style-wise!

Definitely Jeans. I have the slim ones in blue and a washed black that's a bit grey. Really nice and pretty cheap

Vicliz24 · 09/01/2022 21:42

I second the cool comfort slip . I have two , one nude and one black . Everything hangs better when I wear them and as a bonus they make fantastic nighties for hot holidays. I put one on after my shower and can sit on the balcony in comfort.

Spain1980 · 10/01/2022 19:50

I love these slips but mostly use them to sleep in chemise style. Last much longer than similar nightdresses - in black quite sexy but still ok for every day. And of course can use as a slip when needed - which admittedly alone wouldn’t warrant the purchase

flippertyop · 10/01/2022 19:58

It's absolutely not overpriced. As others say it's not Primark but then neither is the quality. They have so much nice stuff at the moment. I really like their bright joggers and matching hoodies

liquoriceallsortfamily · 11/01/2022 13:51

Why not spend it at and M & S outlet. Better value xx
