Shit. Do I look "Witchy"?

Saw an ex-colleague in town today. Not seen her for c7/8 years. Bit of chit chat, small talk. And then "So you have embraced the grey. I thought of doing it in lockdown but was scared of having that witchy vibe... You're kind of rocking it though...." A bit of a pause, a change of subject and soon after we went our separate ways.

DIdn't think much of it then. But now it is digging at me. Do I look witchy? Midlength grey curls. A bit of frizz - then my curls nearly always have a bit of frizz.

Photos attached. Would normally be wash- day today - but playing sport tomorrow morning so eeking it out an extra day - so not an "insta-best-photo-possible.

Should I listen to the "Witchy" or the "Rocking it"? I know I look my age and don't really care. But I am just wondering if I need to rethink the length/style? I am nearly 50 (like days from being 50) so wondering if am over-thinking it cos of that...just having a bit of a crisis.

Honest opinions please?

Oh and the "she probably didn't mean it". I would like to think so. And maybe the slightly awkward pause was her thinking "Oh, that may have come out wrong." But there is probably a reason I didn't keep in touch.....

But it doesn't matter. She can live her life. I will live mine. Whatever her reasoning it is my sensitivity over my hair (see above) that is for me to deal with.

Thats the impression I got too that she was referring to herself. I've got long straight hair and if it was all grey I would look like a witch. What is her like? Yours doesn't look witchy cos it's curly.

I’ve been looking quite hard at your photos (not in a stalkery way!) to work out what’s jarring to my eyes.

Love the colour. You’re so lucky with the way your hair is greying. Mine has no rhyme nor reason to it, it’s a mish mash of black, brown, grey and white. Very fetching…

Love the curls (although god it sounds high maintenance, had no idea curly hair was so difficult!).

The length is also decent, especially the back (I know you said the front bits are just a bit straggly today, still think that length is good).

I think that actually the issue isn’t your hair at all. You have great eyes and great cheekbones and your curls are hiding them both. You kinda don’t know where to look first. You have too many good things going for you!

Do you ever tie your hair back, or half back? It would be a shame to lose the bouncy curls, but you’re not doing your face justice by letting the curls hang in front of it.

As for witchy: I aspire to that, so your friend’s comment would have been totally lost on me!

I am 50 in a matter of days. And I really don't give too hoots about looking 50.
OK, maybe having a bit of a wobble

However turning 50 is better than the alternative. 😃

You look fantastic! When I was younger I used to babysit for a couple, the mum had hair similar to yours, dark curls with streaks of silver and it looked so cool. My hair sadly is naturally light so when I go grey I will sadly not get the streaked look. Embrace it!
