Is this jumpsuit awful?

After seeing this on mumsnet I bought a black velvet glittery jumpsuit. I don't need it. I have no particular occasions to wear it but thought I'd wear it at Christmas and for a party or out with friends. It's too long so would need to have it shortened. I ordered some leopard print courts to wear with. And a velvet cape I kind of love. Not got them yet and might send back and wear with pointed heeled black suede boots I always wear out.

I feel comfortable in it but it's not that flattering as I'm overweight.

I thought it would last and not date too quickly. Its not "my" style and maybe I should buy a more expensive casual glittery outfit from hush instead...

At least I get honest opinions from you lot. Do your worst. Thanks.

It isn't my style and I'm not in love with it and, more importantly, you don't seem to be either?

But it definitely isn't a you problem! You look lovely. I'm just not keen on the style.

Jenjenn · 01/12/2021 21:02

Where is it from, I am tempted!

LadyCampanulaTottington · 01/12/2021 21:03

I love it!

Kjr33 · 01/12/2021 21:03

I think it’s really nice but it sounds like you aren’t keen so you will (if you are like me with these things) probably either not wear it or feel uncomfortable in it. Maybe the alternative is to keep the shoes and cape and wear those with something more simple/plain.

Boood · 01/12/2021 21:03

I like it, I’d wear it.

WellTidy · 01/12/2021 21:04

I think it look great and you look great in it.

OhMyCrump · 01/12/2021 21:07

I like it, but hard to tell without the shoes! I think the leopard print courts sound amazing but how high are the heels?

Iamthewombat · 01/12/2021 21:08

It looks ok but it’s a bit aging (ageing?) and I don’t think velvet really works in a jumpsuit. You can do better. What are your best bits?

Bluntness100 · 01/12/2021 21:08

Actually that’s lovely and it suits your figure.

ozzyfroggy · 01/12/2021 21:09

Black is too strong for your colouring and the shape makes you look like a walking box. You've got a lovely shape and it ain't showing that off.

justbegoodforme · 01/12/2021 21:10

Love it on you though maybe I'm biased as I'm curvy and love a jumpsuit on me!

FallonCarringtonWannabe · 01/12/2021 21:10

I really like the jumpsuit. And i like socks. But they don't work as an outfit.

I bought a jumpsuit fir last Christmas. I wear it loads as it is like wearing pyjamas but i get loads of compliments on it.

SirChenjins · 01/12/2021 21:10

I love that! I’m not sure if the leopard print shoes would work though - too much clashing pattern between that and the sparkly bits.

TheWholeWorld · 01/12/2021 21:11

It's not awful, but it's not wow either. Sounds like you were expecting to feel nicer wearing it than you do in reality so I think this one needs to go back to the shop!

Constellationstation · 01/12/2021 21:11

I really like it! I think it would better with strappy heels than boots though

Constellationstation · 01/12/2021 21:12

*look better

ImissWoolworths · 01/12/2021 21:12

I honestly think you look lovely in it and I'm interested in where you bought it from. Put the heels on and post another pic please.

FatFilledTrottyPuss · 01/12/2021 21:14

I think you look great in it. I love jumpsuits on other people but look shit in them myself and I’m gutted!

Twinstudy · 01/12/2021 21:15

I think it's lovely and really suits you. Another one wanting to know where it's from!

AgnesNaismith · 01/12/2021 21:15

I love it and would quite like it for myself, where did it come from please?

highlandcoo · 01/12/2021 21:17

I think it really suits you.The neckline is very flattering. The belt is a bit bunched up I think but that''s easily sorted.

I'd go for open toed black sandals and painted toenails rather than leopard print shoes though .. i think that would be too much and you've got enough going on with the sparkle already.

ZenNudist · 01/12/2021 21:20

Thanks for the comments. The shoes have not been sent so I'm not wearing leopard print courts after all. It's from phase eight

Being honest I know it's a faff going to the loo so it's not an easy wear. I do wear jumpsuits in the summer and that doesn't bother me then.

I think the reason it makes me look square is because I have no waist. I'm an apple and a size 12 when I've always been a size 10. Losing weight would make a massive difference.

I like it.

ZenNudist · 01/12/2021 21:29

I think I need narrower legs on the jump suit. I have good legs and this kind of drowns me.

Hard to post a better picture as it's so long. The model wears it short with strappy and also so she must be about 7 foot. I'm 5'3"

I did think it being so short on the model it would be a reasonable length on me.

Right it's going back.

I like it but not sure about the bow / belt thing on it, can it be taken off ?
