What next for wrinkly oily types after Double Wear Light

Slobberstops · 27/11/2021 20:33

I loved this foundation and the way it lasts and isn’t cakey plus Fresco was my exact match so now it’s discontinued. Any suggestions for fairly lightweight but super long lasting foundations that won’t gloop off an oily nose or emphasise my eye wrinkles!

Following with interest (and desperation).

Thecazelets · 27/11/2021 21:25

Lancome Teinte idole Ultra Wear's pretty good, but I never really got on with DW Light (prefer the full strength one) so it might not suit you.

Slobberstops · 27/11/2021 21:39

You missing it too littlesquizzer? I was horrified today when I went to reorder!

Cazelets - had wondered about that one. Does it seem less lightweight than the DW light?

Thecazelets · 27/11/2021 21:50

Sort of half way between the two. Definitely less 'chalky' and more natural than original DW.

Chronicallymothering · 27/11/2021 21:54

I’ve recently switched to Chantecaille Future Skin and I’m finding it buildable in terms of coverage, isn’t settling in fine lines over time and it’s oil free so doesn’t make my skin greasy. A small amount goes a long way, so the price might seem steep but I think it should last me a while.

Slobberstops · 27/11/2021 22:25

Will put that on the list Cazelets - thanks

Chronically - that sounds lovely but I wondered whether it would last on my greasy nose! I tend to blot with tissue a few times through the day so really need something that sticks. Have given up expecting the grease to go as I am nearly 50 and use Tretinoin (even if I can’t remember how to spell it:)

When I went to refuel with my usual DWL the assistant broke the bad news. She gave me a sample of the regular DW but I look like I’ve been embalmed. It’s awful on me. Will try get a sample of the chantecaille. I’ve tried the Lancôme but it wasn’t enough to stem the tide of oil from my t zone.

Slobberstops · 28/11/2021 12:27

It’s such a bugger. Hmmm I am going to actually have to go to Boots. The horror!

Well I plan to investigate Chantecaille in Boots but I bought some Il Makiage mainly on the basis that they reckon they can match you online. Will let you know Littlesquizzer:)

Hope you’re happy with it Slobberstops. I’ve not got time to go to town this week so will carry on online searches for possible substitutes for ELDW. Yes please do say how you find the IM.

Slobberstops · 01/12/2021 19:40

Well it’s here.Colour match looks ok and it feels ok too. Need to see in proper light tomorrow. Let’s see what happens tomorrow she I wear it for longer. Will let you know. I did get two foundation brushes and a free liquid eyeliner too

I'm a ELDW Light fan too. I actually emailed them about it and the reply suggested they would be bringing out a replacement next year. Hopefully the same formula just rebranded.
In the meantime I'm using up what I've got left and alternating with some Becca oil free (also discontinued but lots available in T K Maxx) and a Clinique Even Better foundation.

Cutelittlesquizzer · 01/12/2021 20:51

Thanks for reporting back slobberstops. Do let us know how the colour match is holding up after a longer wear if you can.
wherearewenow. I wish I could wear Clinique. Everything I’ve tried I’m allergic to. Are you a David Bowie fan btw?

WellTidy · 01/12/2021 21:55

I am a DWL lover too, but with dry skin. I really like the chantecaille, I’ve bought it twice and loved it. But now I wear Clinique even better foundation and really rate that too. And its 40% of the price of the chantecaille.

Slobberstops · 01/12/2021 22:02

Am amazed to discover I am meant to use two giant pumps and spread all over my face and neck. Apparently I am a light user of foundation. Does anyone else do their neck?!?

OP posts:
missmoon · 01/12/2021 22:10

I don’t have the answer, but I’m in the same situation as Lancome have discontinued my shade in their Teint Idole Ultra Nude (light) foundation. I’m planning to go into town on Friday to try a few alternatives. Someone recommended Dior foundation, and I might try that first.

missmoon · 01/12/2021 22:11

Would be very interested to hear how you get on with IM! I’ve done the quiz and found a shade, but worried about the foundation itself.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 01/12/2021 22:13

Fresco is my exact shade too. What about mixing the original formula with some light moisturiser?

WellTidy · 01/12/2021 22:19

Never do my neck. It would end up all over my collar, coat, scarf etc.

oopsinamechangedagain2021 · 01/12/2021 22:23

Anyone know what foundation is good for dry skin, that is also very pale?

Would like to make my own post but can't find style and beauty in topics.

Gherkinbee · 01/12/2021 22:24

Solidarity, Fresco sisters! Same. Went to Boots and girl on the counter broke the bad news. She told me the hydra was amazing, got a sample and also bought one.
No, no, it's not. Tried the sample, sits in my pores and shiny as within a couple of hours. Back to Boots tomorrow to return the unopened full size one.
I was actually going to start a thread on this myself so very interested to see alternatives.

coronafiona · 01/12/2021 22:46

Phoera it has great coverage. I don't wear powder with it. Buy from Amazon

Pallisers · 01/12/2021 22:49

Another sad DW light user here. I actually have about 3 in stock as I bought a few during the lockdown.

Why why why did they discontinue it???

Shimmylikejoanholloway · 01/12/2021 22:51

There’s a new doublewear light out on the 13th December I was told today not sure what it’s going to be like though.

I tried the same one as you OP the online colour match one - I thought it was too pale at first but ended up using it until it ran out recently!

Slobberstops · 01/12/2021 23:42

I thought it was place too - on my skin rather than on my hand oddly but I look ok in it. Neither loving or hating but I don’t think it is as quite glued to my skin as DWL.

Loving all the fresco people. Are you all a bit blue like me? I really need a pinky blue base. I spend winter a bit purple all over
