What next for wrinkly oily types after Double Wear Light

I loved this foundation and the way it lasts and isn’t cakey plus Fresco was my exact match so now it’s discontinued. Any suggestions for fairly lightweight but super long lasting foundations that won’t gloop off an oily nose or emphasise my eye wrinkles!

I will try that and the Arden one as well. So annoying when you have to change!

@Slobberstops me too! My skin is a bit drier now I’m using tretinoin but my skin is still quite oily and that’s the main reason I won’t repurchase, it gives me that shiny wet look upper lip and nose after a few hours.

I really like luminous silk but it’s medium-full coverage, the same as normal EL DW on me. It’s so hard to find a lighter coverage for oily skin. I have also got the Bobbi brown skin fluid to powder foundation which is a lighter coverage, it’s quite nice and more similar to ELDWL than others I’ve tried but I can’t seem to get the right colour, that’s a me problem though.

Slobberstops · 19/12/2021 22:54

Your skin sounds like mine 29ac. I hoped the tretinoin would stop my oil issues but though drier I am still super oily too. Does the Bobby Brown last well? Have never tried any other foundations other than some cheapo ones.

@Slobberstops I find it about the same longevity as ELDWL but I don’t find it sits so well on the skin in terms of looking smooth and non-textured. It’s still pretty nice though! I’ve gone through so many things in my quest to find a replacement and I’ve not found anything yet unfortunately. Worth seeing if you can get a sample / try some!

WeeM · 19/12/2021 23:37

Following with interest as a long time DW user (regular one), I’ve found recently it’s started to sit in the lines in my eyes and I’ve not found anything else. Although I have been recommended to try Charlotte Tillbury airbrush flawless....haven’t been able to bring myself to fork out for it yet though in case it’s no good!

WeeM · 19/12/2021 23:38

I’m also really pale so find it hard to get the right shade...some just aren’t made pale enough!

Glowmaintenance · 21/12/2021 13:42

Did anyone wear dwl in Dune and has found a good match with anything else?

BlueBloodedBlue · 23/12/2021 14:22

I went into a Boots in High street Kensington, London today to look for a Sheer sample and apparently they are only in the department stores (John Lewis and Selfridges atm). Due in Boots stores in Jan
BUT, she had a stash of the DWL under the counter! No Fresco sadly but I got a Pale Almond which she assured me was close enough!
If desperate, maybe worth checking your local Boots in case they have the same.

Slobberstops · 23/12/2021 15:49

I was doing the same today but no joy. She was extolling the virtues of the sheer but also said if I liked the texture of the DWL the Clinique equivalent is very similar. I have a sample to try so will let you know.

Can't rate Nars Radiant Longwear highly enough: very pale colours, excellent coverage stays on all day, make you look, well, radiant. I also use Skindenavia Bridal Setting Spray and my face stays on all day even with a face mask.

Slobberstops · 24/12/2021 09:38

Nars sounds good. The Clinique was horrid. I believe it would stay on but it didn’t have the light fresh feel to dwl it was flatter and thicker. A worse Il makiage.

Slobberstops · 24/12/2021 09:39

Think I plan to try the Arden, Bobby Brown and Nars next. If anyone knows what colour their fresco is in these let me know.

I have, today, got my hands on the new DW light. If anyone is interested I can report back tomorrow after morning application?

Yes please Grin

I had really really greasy skin, came off like water, before Roaccutane. Hourglass Immaculate liquid to powder foundation would last from before work to late a night. I applied it with the brush they sell to go with it, it turns to powder really quickly, so I just put it on back of my hand, quickly picked up with brush and spread over face and then buffed it in. Around particularly greasy areas like nose, I would dab more on with the brush off back off hand and buff in with the brush.

So, first application this morning. It falls out of the bottle like liquid and the coverage is super sheer. I don't feel like I have anything on my face which is brilliant. It has an Illuminuous sheen (sorry can't spell that). My nose has a redness and it doesn't mask that so I look sun kissed! Would be perfect once skin has a slight tan. It's less heavier than the futurist hydra rescue which is what I've been using since DWL wasn't available. I tried the nars in boots yesterday but it was way too heavy for me. I shall keep it going!
missmoon · 08/01/2022 18:15

@BakeOffRewatch I’ve been thinking of trying the Hourglass one, do you use powder with it, or just the foundation and it’s good to go? What about primer? Thank you!

BakeOffRewatch · 08/01/2022 19:09

I don’t remember what I did exactly, it was a nearly 4 years ago now. I would always, cleanse, moisturise with something that was SPF and marketed as making skin “makeup ready”, then the foundation, blusher/highlight/contour powders in non t-zones, and a blurring/perfection powder dusted on t-zones and edges. I didn’t try it without the powder so don’t know. I don’t think it needs it though it really does turn to powder, I think all makeup results are about technique though and with that one you do have to be quick applying and blending it in. It was amazing, my face was honestly always wet with grease and it was still fine 14hours later. Happy to DM the full routine and products I used. They gave me a sample of the hourglass primer but I never used it enough to finish the sample.

OP I've got quite oily skin and I like the Estée Lauder Futurist Hydra foundation ever though I think it's for dry skin. I use the shade fresco in it.

Having tried the new DWL sheer, I definitely prefer the hydrist. It's got better coverage and is still light and non matte. The sheer is so very sheer that I think I should only use it in the summer once my skin has some colour from the sun.
LadyGAgain · 08/01/2022 23:41

And by hydrist you know what I mean!

missmoon · 10/01/2022 08:54

@BakeOffRewatch Thank you! That’s very kind. I will experiment with different options for primer / SPF cream, and powders!
