Second ear piercing - just a fad?

I’m tempted, suddenly everyone seems to have a double piercing. But is it a temporary fashion that will soon look dated? I am a mid 40s person, I’m not really interested in fast fashion - more of a capsule wardrobe person.

I’m a 40 something mum of four who has a very corporate job (the sort where I often wear a suit and heels) and I’ve had a double piercing since I was about 16.

I now have five teeny studs in one ear and two in the other.

I’m definitely as main stream as they come I don’t think anyone would notice.

I’ve had double piercings since the early 00’s. I wear studs in the first hole all the time, and move the studs to the second hole when I’m wearing drop earrings. I don’t think it dates me to any decade particularly, from the PP responses it seems to be a fashion across many decades!

I've got a double piercing, had them done at 16 and am 37 now. My auntie had a double piercing and growing up I wanted to be like her. She's 71 and still wears them.

I had the cartilage at the top of my left ear pierced when I was 18 but took it out when I was 20 as I kept catching it when I brushed my hair and it hurt.

Have never done anything that could remotely be described as cool I'm a lawyer and no-one has ever commented it on it not being professional (apart from my mother who was horrified at the cartilage piercing!)

Have been thinking about getting a third hole or having the cartilage re-done recently though.

I’ve got 3 in my lobes and double helix. I’m 40.

I had a second piercing in the 80s which had closed. I've had it redone recently and I'm waiting for it to heal (1 week to go) and then I'm getting 3rd piercings done. Who cares if people think it's a fad? I've got way too many earrings and I want to be able to wear them ALL more often . And as I get older I feel that more jewellery softens my face.

I'm 51.

In my 50s. Had second piercings in the 1980s. Upper ear piercings around 20 years ago. I think both are fairly mainstream.
