Second ear piercing - just a fad?

I’m tempted, suddenly everyone seems to have a double piercing. But is it a temporary fashion that will soon look dated? I am a mid 40s person, I’m not really interested in fast fashion - more of a capsule wardrobe person.

I'm going to get mine done (I'm mid 40s) but hasn't it been around for year? Most of my peers already have 2, I thought I was being old fashioned getting it done again!

I had mine done in the 90's. Many of my friends have a double piercing. It's not new.

Had mine double pierced in the 90's too. Definitely not a new thing! A few of my friends had their lobe pierced all the way up with multiple holes.

Go for it. You can always take it out or let it close over. I rarely wear double on each ear these days but have the choice.

Septum and upper ear piercings are more of a “thing” at the moment but a second ear piercing is not a fad as such.

I'm in my 40s I have 3 piercings in one ear conventional place, slightly above that and one in the top of my ear (possibly the helix? Not sure) but I've had them there since I was a teen.

Surely double piercing has been around since at least the 70s? I'm not sure how, as a mid 40s person, you could think it was new. I am 50 and originally had 4, now I just wear the double.

My ears were spin left pierced and more in the 90’s. I don’t know if the holes are still open. I could try and shove an earring in. Would it make me cool….or tragic?

Got my second ear piercings in 1985, it has been around a long time :)

I got my second piercing in the early 1980s, I've worn earrings in them ever since.

So if it is a fad it's a long one.

I remember having my second one in primary so over 25 years ago.

I've never been cool enough for more than one hole in each lobe! My daughter is 14 and had two holes in each lobe and regularly wears two studs/a stud and a small hoop/drop

It’s not new at all, I’m in my 40s and people have had double piercings since the 80s, I remember my auntie having double piercings when I had mine first done when I was a kid.

Had mine done in the 90s too - shows that if you stand still long enough you come back in to fashion!

I had mine done 20 years ago so was probably a 'sheep' then as it was early 00's not 90's like everyone else. I don't think it's a trend though, just a personal choice thing

I've had four holes in each ear since the 90s. I usually wear either one in each ear, or one in the right and multiple in the left. They never seem to close up. I fancy having another one done at the top (helix I think?).

I remember quite a few girls at school back in the 80’s having double ear piercings. In some cases they never close up. My husband had both his ears pierced when he was at university, but has never worn any earrings since he started work in 1991. We were messing about a few months ago and I tried to put earrings back in his ears - they both went in no problem. We were both really surprised!

I had my second hole done in 1981 when I was in the sixth form. Couldn't really afford it so my friend and I went halves and had one each Forty years on I still only have an extra hole in one ear.

I did my own extra piercings and those of my friends in the late 80s. So definitely not a new thing.

I’ve had a second piercing in one ear for over 10 years. I just wear a tiny stud in it and rarely take it out.

I'm 60. Had my second one done about 6 years ago and love it still.
