Give me your reccomendations for the best foundation you've ever tryed!! ( any price low or high)

I'm after something long wearing like EL double wear but won't cake and sink into fine lines.

@Oftenithinkaboutit

Game changer

The new Sisley range

Does it have staying power? I was tempted to try it, but it's ££££, so I don't want it if it's going to slide off my face by lunchtime.

MAC studio radiance face and body foundation! Amazing as it doesn't look heavy at all but makes my skin look flawless

WTF475878237NC · 25/11/2021 16:13

a PP explained it's all about the application of ELDW, so I've gone back to it. I use a brush and apply it really lightly and it looks good, no lines or cakiness and I feel more youthful. I've had compliments about my skin too.

^ same here. Realised I wasn't letting my oil primer set first and also now apply with a damp brush and it's made a massive difference.

Chanel and Laura Mercier

justasking111 · 25/11/2021 17:26

When you think how long TV and film folks spend in the make up chair, the slap and dash method aren't going to be as good 🤣

Minorissue · 25/11/2021 17:31

Quite like Laura Mercier silk creme - very creamy and blends well.

But the older I get the more important the prep is so use oily balms instead of face wash then a really decent moisturiser first

Suqqu cream foundation
Suqqu was the BEST EVER foundation. I bought it after Sali Hughes raved about it and then it was discontinued. I have a small amount left which I use once in a blue moon but wish I could find anything a fraction as good
MorrisZapp · 25/11/2021 17:48

The only foundation I can wear straight from the tube and not diluted with skincare is Georgio Armani Neo Nude. It doesn't have great staying power but with skin as dry as mine that's life. Anything that lasts just looks like sandpaper on my skin.

Love the tube packaging too, the glass the other ones come in is pretty but totally impractical.

@LondonMummer I still buy it, isn't it not the same one? www.cultbeauty.co.uk/suqqu-the-cream-foundation/13322542.html?affil=thggpsad&switchcurrency=GBP&shippingcountry=GB&variation=13322552&gclid=CjwKCAjw8KmLBhB8EiwAQbqNoCLngzzBQTE5I0hvJcgcv2isPPgLng0339OLZBeyJZN8e7QZsn3jgRoClSsQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I discovered it when browsing in Selfridges. It is super expensive but I try to make it last by using makeup forever foundation as well

It's not the same. But maybe I should try it again. See this re Sali Hughes

@CockaleekieAye

I bought the Il Makiage foundation after being pretty much make up free all during covid and then finding my usual preferences looked cakey/baked after a short time, or I got the shiny nose and chin effect after an hour or two.

It's not budget, but I've found it excellent for more "mature" skin - I'm 43. It's been on since 7am this morning with no touch ups and still looks really good. Would definitely recommend it and I got a couple of freebies when I ordered including an excellent foundation brush.

Also a convert here. Tried it as I got worn down/intrigued by the adverts that kept popping up and I absolutely love it. Colour is spot on, coverage is good and buildable but not mask like or cakey. Got the concealer too which is equally as fabulous (I'm 41 with typical combo skin and a few fine lines for reference)

onlychildhamster · 25/11/2021 19:33

@LondonMummer aww thats sad, well i never knew the original. I have been told by staff in Selfridges that its mainly French and Asian tourists who buy it so they were very quiet when the shops opened after the last lockdown!

Malibuismysecrethome · 25/11/2021 20:10

I love a cream compact foundation but no one seems to do it. I used to by the Chanel one but it was discontinued.

LaVieEstBelle159 · 25/11/2021 20:58

@WTF475878237NC does the damp brush really help? Also, what primer do you use? Smash box is good but a bit too oily so I'm thinking I may need to leave it to rest for longer.

Elizabeth Arden flawless finish is a compact foundation
Malibuismysecrethome · 25/11/2021 21:26

justasking111 thank you, I had forgotten about that one!

WTF475878237NC · 25/11/2021 22:30

LaVieEstBelle159 so I am currently using a Clarins poreless primer. I also use their Lotus oil for combination skin at night a few times a week. The damp brush seems to help make a little go a long way and give a nicer finish.

LaVieEstBelle159 · 25/11/2021 23:47

@WTF475878237NC thank you, I'll give that a try Smile

Ameanstreakamilewide · 27/11/2021 15:20

@Smoothsoul

I lve been using ELDW for years also and recently changed to mac but I really dislike it. It’s casket and patchey looking. I’ve tried using different primers from rimmel to clarins flash balm, No primer, light moisturising, heavy creams, facial oil and I can’t get my foundation to sit nicely for weeks now. I just want a nice dewy coverage.
I've had exactly the same problem.

I spent so long not wearing any makeup (wfh), that when I started wearing it again, i was very out of practice and just could not get it to look nice.

I'm drinking more water now, cos my face is very dry and foundation really clings and makes it look flakey.
And I've just started using a No.7 primer that smoothes out my skin and makes the foundation last longer.

curlygirlcrying · 27/11/2021 16:01

Clinique.

Have been wearing a lot less however since lockdown March 2020

Nap1983 · 27/11/2021 16:08

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush flawless I think it called… don’t use anything else now. Can apply fairly light for work/day and build it up for nights out etc
