Give me your reccomendations for the best foundation you've ever tryed!! ( any price low or high)

I'm after something long wearing like EL double wear but won't cake and sink into fine lines.

I have been using il makiage the last few months. Best foundation I have found so far. It's not cheap but it evens my skin tone, gives great coverage and doesn't go cakey or sink into fine lines (I'm mid to late thirties).

Maybelline Dream wonder fluid touch is my favourite, but it's discontinued now and I'm on my last bottle. I also love the urban decay naked skin for more special occasions. I hate full coverage foundation, so both are pretty lightweight.

HostessTrolley · 23/11/2021 21:51

I love eborian cc cream too! I’m 49. I use it on its own in the daytime and with concealer/light foundation for going out - something like Mac studio water weight or tarte water foundation

justasking111 · 23/11/2021 21:51

Elizabeth Arden flawless finish in the compact with a squirt of L'Oréal infallible mix together with an egg sponge and apply, then loreal more than concealer on eyelids and below the eye dabbed in with finger then blended with the pointed end of the egg sponge

Mac waterproof pro longwear nourishing is the only one for me that stays put and doesn't get greasy even after 12 hours of wear. You only use a teeny tiny bit and best applied with a thick brush and it can be medium to full cover. I always use a moisturiser underneath as it can stick to dry bits otherwise.

I used to use Bobbi browns bb cream as well which wasn't as long lasting but looked very natural.

And bare minerals original looks great but such a faff to travel with. I loved their pressed powder Ready wear but gutted they discontinued it.

Hunt for one that does it all still continues!

There is some great suggestions here, thanks! I've tryed so many myself, recently got revlon colorstay off amazon because i read it was a dupe for EL but it wasn't a patch on it. Before that i had hydraluminous gorgous texture looks lovely but vanished within 2 or 3 hrs. I just find all foundations look crap on me, they always go on my nose and chin first and im not even that oily. I've tryed primer, setting powder, setting spray ect nothing works so that's why I'm thinking if i go high end then it will look better and last longer.

I use No7 Hydraluminous as an everyday foundation but they’ve discontinued my colour so I’ll have to see if I get along with the new colour. Eborian BB cream arrived today so I’m looking forward to trying that tomorrow.

Kate896 · 23/11/2021 22:16

No 7 beautifully matte

Rina66 · 24/11/2021 05:53

I used to love Elizabeth Arden compact foundation @justasking111 I didn't realise they still made it! Think I first used it when I worked in London over 30 years ago, it made my skin look glowy and flawless but it did transfer on to my collars, paperwork and desk phone (1980's!)

LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer · 24/11/2021 05:56

No7 intelligent colour

Jota67 · 24/11/2021 05:59

Phoera foundation is really really good.

Make sure your order from getphoera site as there are already fakes kicking around.

Amazing coverage but not drying and a good price.

I also love Armani Luninous silk but would say that is more of a medium coverage

Oftenithinkaboutit · 24/11/2021 06:04

Game changer

The new Sisley range

mynameiscalypso · 24/11/2021 06:05

@nanbread I'm 38. Combination skin but with a tendency to look knackered due to a non-sleeping toddler.

justasking111 · 24/11/2021 09:14

If you're moisturising but not giving it time to sink in then you will have problems. Slap it on down to boob line, go make the bed tidy up, then start on the foundation, concealer

PoppyMonth · 24/11/2021 09:20

Having been devoted to Bourgeois Healthy Mix, I am now trying to find something as good. Working my way around John Lewis beauty counter samples.

So far I have tried Clarins (not good), Chanel (quite like but don’t love) and I’m going to try Dior and Sisley next.

JinglingHellsBells · 24/11/2021 09:27

If you have not tried any of the Bobbi Brown ones @whymewhyme I'd suggest doing so.

I use their Skin Foundation mainly because I have issues finding the right shade with other brands (always too orange, too pink, too dark)

Skin Foundation is very light but buildable. It doesn't last long TBH as I need a lot of give decent coverage.

You might like their foundation stick, or the long wear foundation.

Re your foundation not staying on- you need maybe to reduce the amount of moisturiser you are using AND allow at least 10 mins for it to sink in, then apply primer or sunscreen if you want to.

Also, apply your foundation with a brush and stipple it over the oiler areas.

mrstea301 · 24/11/2021 09:27

@fluoropostit

No7 hydraluminous.
Do boots still do the colour matching? I really want to try this but I'm never confident of getting the right shade!
JinglingHellsBells · 24/11/2021 09:29

Dior Star Glow is also good but I am very disappointed as I bought it again after it's revamp and the same colour I did use is now darker. It has good coverage but I find it dries fast when you apply it, so you need to work fast.

ItsSunnyOutside · 24/11/2021 09:30

I really like The Ordinary high coverage one (not the serum one)
It goes on really nicely , feels light but gives very good even coverage. I prefer the dewy look and this foundation looks natural and not cakey at all.

I know what you mean about the ELDW one, I always found it too heavy and hard to blend

I also rate the Two Faced Born This Way foundation, its on the pricey end which is why I haven't purchased it in a while, but its really good!

JinglingHellsBells · 24/11/2021 09:31

@mrstea301 They will give you a tiny sample to try if you ask.

The problem with Hydraluminous for me is it's a great foundation for cover etc but the shade range is very limited. Even Calico isn't quite right- looks too pink on me- and the palest Porcelain is too white.

onlychildhamster · 24/11/2021 09:48

Suqqu cream foundation

nanbread · 24/11/2021 10:14

Funny, I HATE bourgeois healthy mix. Sank into all my pores and lines, too heavy.

In fact I have a more than half full bottle in light beige if anyone wants it.

Trinity69 · 24/11/2021 19:27

I've never used foundation until recently...hit 40 and started looking it. I used Senegence foundation in Buff. It's amazing and doesn't budge at all. I also love their CCTM which also doesn't budge. Sometimes I even mix the 2 to provide a medium coverage. Always buy from a reputable distributor though as there are a lot of cheap knocks off available.

Chickydoo · 24/11/2021 19:35

Bourgeois Healthy Mix
Still get it on Amazon.
Been using it for years

Blackmagicqueen · 24/11/2021 19:36

Another vote for Loreal, i use true match.
