Give me your reccomendations for the best foundation you've ever tryed!! ( any price low or high)

I'm after something long wearing like EL double wear but won't cake and sink into fine lines.

BareMinerals Complexion Rescue tinted moisturiser.

Great product.

So of course they discontinued it.

WhatHoMarjorie · 24/11/2021 19:44

@mynameiscalypso

I'm obsessed with Eborian CC Cream
this one went bright orange on me. so annoying.
MargotEmin · 24/11/2021 19:48

The iconic Mac Face + Body (or whatever thry just recently changed the name too).

It's a strange consistency though, very sheer unless you're confident building it up, definitely more of a professional product than a consumer one.

TheMildManneredMilitant · 24/11/2021 19:49

As I'm getting older I find that the heavier foundations I would have worn when younger look crap. Really like Mac Face and Body now - like my natural face but with the edge taken off Grin

I can also only wear EL DW at night as its just not right for day wear now. Today I bought EA flawless finish, the one with the hylaronic acid in. I like that it comes is so many shades. I did go in to get a matching done.

It leaves a nice glow on my skin and it just looks 100 times healthier than if I had used DW.

sarahandduck12 · 24/11/2021 19:59

Laura Mercier.

CampagVelocet · 24/11/2021 20:05

I love the Double Wear Light. I find it gives enough coverage but isn't cakey. I tried the Revlon Colorstay recently because I saw it recommended on here but it was nowhere near as good.

leopardprintpants · 24/11/2021 20:18

@PoppyMonth

Having been devoted to Bourgeois Healthy Mix, I am now trying to find something as good. Working my way around John Lewis beauty counter samples.

So far I have tried Clarins (not good), Chanel (quite like but don’t love) and I’m going to try Dior and Sisley next.

I feel you on that!

Healthy mix looked fab even if you borrowed a mates which wasn't your colour.... didn't it?! 😂

Basically any foundation without spf! I have no idea why they put it in, it ruins all of them.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 24/11/2021 20:22

Shiseido SyncroSkin.

Perfect coverage, lots of shades.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 24/11/2021 20:24

Also, I had samples of the Lisa Eldridge one, and that's quite good too.

MrsPetty · 24/11/2021 20:28

MAC face and body. Really sheer and light but you can build it up. Lasts for ages

DaisyStiener · 24/11/2021 20:30

I’m also a huge fan of the No7 foundations.
I use the serum foundation for work ( makeup should be light,if at all) and recently bought the hydra luminous which is a great dupe for YSL touche eclat IMO. I probably won’t replace my YSL one now.

Fenty foundation is a good medium buildable foundation and doesn’t tend to sit in lines. And not as pricey as some other luxury ones !

BUT I do find they all stay better when I use the Smashbox water primer. It’s light and doesn’t feel like your adding yet another layer of crap onto your already oily face! And I tend to find it stays very well. You can get little £12 sample bottles to try
Are you using a damp sponge to press on? I find sponge better than brushes . Are you layering TOO much onto the chin and cheeks /oily bits ? So it’s sliding off?

And quite honestly, unless you have amazing skin : I’d stay clear of the Double wear and heavy Matt foundations- they only ever sit it the fine lines and make them look 1000 x worse anyways.

Cotswoldmama · 24/11/2021 20:32

I really like Maybellines urban wear it's got SPF 50. It's really lightweight and blends really well.

AnnieSnap · 24/11/2021 21:17

At 62, foundation looks too much on my skin. I now wear a primer and BB cream for a dewy looks. It works much better. Just a heads-up in case anyone doesn’t realise, Maybelline products and some other suggestions here are still tested on animals. I don’t think cosmetics are worth the suffering.

CockaleekieAye · 24/11/2021 21:38

I bought the Il Makiage foundation after being pretty much make up free all during covid and then finding my usual preferences looked cakey/baked after a short time, or I got the shiny nose and chin effect after an hour or two.

It's not budget, but I've found it excellent for more "mature" skin - I'm 43. It's been on since 7am this morning with no touch ups and still looks really good. Would definitely recommend it and I got a couple of freebies when I ordered including an excellent foundation brush.

raffegiraffe · 24/11/2021 21:51

Revlon colourstay. Tried many but always go back to this. I like infallible but it oxidises to orange on me

asparalite · 24/11/2021 22:05

Agree with what others have said about foundation sometimes looking too heavy, I use EL daywear tinted moisturiser followed by a tiny amount of Nars foundation just really as a concealer and then Fenty cream bronzer which for me works well giving a good finish.

WeAreTheHeroes · 24/11/2021 22:16

Boots No 7 Hydraluminous. Fabulous stuff and excellent on my middle aged skin.

Troyes76 · 24/11/2021 22:24

Lumene Invisible Illumination is just amazing, I’m pale with dry skin, and this makes me glow!

LaVieEstBelle159 · 24/11/2021 22:26

I have always used ELDW but like you, found it too cakey. Tried Dior, Huda, Clarins but nothing worked. Thought I'd try Chanel...

(Don't know if you saw my foundation thread in AIBU where I explained to the Chanel counter my ELDW dilemma and she sold me the Sublimage for £105 which was terrible!!).

Anyway, in this thread, a PP explained it's all about the application of ELDW, so I've gone back to it. I use a brush and apply it really lightly and it looks good, no lines or cakiness and I feel more youthful. I've had compliments about my skin too.

I do use a touch of setting powder on my T zone.

paisley256 · 24/11/2021 23:08

Estee lauder futurist hydra rescue.

I changed over to this when dw became too heavy looking. This is lighter and dewy i really like it

Lndnmummy · 24/11/2021 23:29

I am a notorious foundation searcher. Try them all. One of the few I have ever repurchased is clinique better glow. Its just gorgeous.

HarrietsweetHarriet · 25/11/2021 09:20

Laura Mercier - last time I tried the tinted moisturiser (which worked for me as alternative to foundation) the product gave a lovely glow and sufficient coverage but the smell was awful. Has it improved does anyone know?

Soontobe60 · 25/11/2021 09:25

Another vote here for It Cosmetics CC +. I have high redness but this disguises it very well without looking cakey or making my skin itch 🤣

Best foundation you've ever tried?
