Can I wear this for dinner and drinks in Soho?

I've just bought this:

www.johnlewis.com/whistles-lattice-print-quinn-jumpsuit-blue/p4989221?size=18

I have dinner and drinks with friends booked in Soho. I know London isn't dressy, but is this a bit too casual...? We aren't going clubbing or anything.

Do you think I can dress this up for nice curry place and maybe a bar?

I'm only 5'8"! But there is a lot of extra length in these. I've turned them up a lot.

There is a review on the ones I'm wearing, from someone who is 6 foot. They said they sized up for extra length. Maybe worth a go Smile

Also, the Carmen ones are unisex, so i think they do come up a bit longer.

I am liking you in your boilersuit @AntiCornLawLeague!
I think your white trainer and long navy wool coat will look great.
Wrap yourself up in a big scarf too.
It was bloody freezing here in London today.
(Don’t know when your dinner is, but it’s looking chilly until about Tuesday next week)

MaryStuart · 25/11/2021 17:18

Trainers obviously.
One would look a bit odd!
Or maybe not. One trainer, one lace-up boot!

AntiCornLawLeague · 25/11/2021 17:23

Thanks mary! Yes, freezing here today too. I have merino base layer top and leggings for underneath (super sexy undies). Will also wear hat, scarf and gloves.

If anyone is a similar size, I am a solid size 18, sometimes a 20 (also sometimes a 16), and I'm in the xxl ones. If I was buying again, I actually think I'd size down one to an xl.

@idontlikealdi

It's very summery. You could literally wear anything in soho but what shoes / coat would you wear with that now it's getting colder?
Trainers and a soufflé cardigan from uniqlo

@AntiCornLawLeague

I'm back with a pic of me in my boilersuit. It's quite a roomy fit on me... do you think it needs a belt? I'm leaning towards no belt and then putting something warm underneath for the walk from station etc.

Thinking either white Adidas trainers and long, navy wool coat or possibly black leather lace up boots.

Looks perfect for drinks in Soho.

Have fun!

I'd add a belt ideally not black, and trainers
AntiCornLawLeague · 25/11/2021 21:48

Thanks!

I'm thinking no belt, (tried it with a burgundy one from All Saints and it isn't right), but thinking of maybe trying to shrink it slightly in the wash, as it is a bit top roomy. Ideally, I'd get it altered, but probably won't.

I've got this , I'd wear it out for drinks and have done ! I'm a size 10 but I think you said you were an hourglass so this is very flattering if so!

soyabean · 27/11/2021 18:22

@gunnersgold that is lovely! Can I ask how tall you are and how it is for body length? I’m 5’8, size 12, and lots of boiler suits are short in the body for me. Thanks!

gunnersgold · 27/11/2021 18:23

I am short to be fair but it's full length on me .. I saw one almost exactly the same on Instagram for £200.! It's fab for £33!

gunnersgold · 27/11/2021 18:24

I think it's fab they go to to plus sizes too! I love Joanie clothes !

soyabean · 27/11/2021 18:24

And yours is gorgeous, OP!

soyabean · 27/11/2021 18:29

@gunnersgold I ordered it! Fingers crossed for the fit. What do you wear on your feet with it if going out?

gunnersgold · 27/11/2021 18:30

I wore platform converse last time but for more dressy I'd probably wear some wedge sandals like the model has on in one of the pics . Would wear normal trainers for day time .

gunnersgold · 27/11/2021 18:32

If you scroll down or tells you the models sizes and heights which I think is great!

wentworthinmate · 28/11/2021 21:21

No. Too casual and too thin material. Try a nice jumpsuit and a jacket.

AntiCornLawLeague · 28/11/2021 21:28

@gunnersgold, thanks for that. It is lovely. However, I may have bought a second one of the L&Y boilersuit I posted. It's the same print and everything Blush. Just in a different colour (navy, with yellow and red flowers instead of green with orange), and a size smaller. It's amazing. I am deeply in love with it. Also got a pinafore dress at the same time. So I don't think I can really justify more shopping!

The Whistles one has gone back to JL.

Excellent @AntiCornLawLeague!
I am waiting for the Joanie jumpsuit so @gunnersgold’s advice was not wasted. Yours is fab. Have a lovely time

ElectraBlue · 29/11/2021 18:21

It is bloody freezing in London right now! this looks too much like a summer outfit.

I am having my birthday dinner and drinks in Soho this week and there is no way I would wear this, even under a coat.

I socialise in Soho all the time and the places you will go to won't be that warm. You get people coming in and out of the restaurants and bars and the cold air comes in with them each time! :)

Unless you go to a club and just keep dancing literally all the time you will be cold...

I did manage to eat outside in Notting Hill last week but the restaurant gave blankets and I was sitting literally next to one of their outdoor heater and I was wearing something with sleeves...

gunnersgold · 29/11/2021 18:26

I was also saying that I wear one out so no reason why you can't OP.. I think they are stylish and flattering ..enjoy whatever you choose 😊
