Can I wear this for dinner and drinks in Soho?

I've just bought this:

www.johnlewis.com/whistles-lattice-print-quinn-jumpsuit-blue/p4989221?size=18

I have dinner and drinks with friends booked in Soho. I know London isn't dressy, but is this a bit too casual...? We aren't going clubbing or anything.

Do you think I can dress this up for nice curry place and maybe a bar?

Skirt and a black body too and a leather biker or leather blazer or normal black jacket , cross body bag and ankle boots would be my choice from your offerings

MaryStuart · 21/11/2021 11:54

@AntiCornLawLeague

It's similar to this one...May actually be this one.

The other one I have is the Juni one, that mary linked, but it's denim? And sort of fadey denim, not sleek. Think that would be too casual?

This is fab, and would look great for drinks and dinner in Soho. As would the skirt you linked. So wear whatever you feel most comfortable in, and enjoy your night! 👍🏻
AntiCornLawLeague · 21/11/2021 11:54

Thanks. I do like the skirt too. So will have a proper little home fashion show when the new bits arrive.

I'm not usually this spendy BTW, but I got money for clothes for my bday from my ddad, so I'm a-spending. His express instructions were that I wasn't allowed to save it or spend it on other people.

^^ the floral one I mean

AntiCornLawLeague · 21/11/2021 11:55

I think I luffs you mary, for saying you like my boiler suit Grin

Too casual and summery and daytime. You need something more glam.

pickingdaisies · 21/11/2021 12:02

Your boiler suit is perfect, the skirt is my second favourite. You'd freeze in the whistles jumpsuit even if you layered it.

AntiCornLawLeague · 21/11/2021 12:06

OK, I'm really pleased my boiler suit is liked by people other than me! I think I will send the Whistles one back, unless it suddenly makes me look like Elle McPherson - ha!

I have to try on the skirt as well and consider footwear. If Kricket is casual enough for trainers, I'd be a fool not to wear them really.

I think it’s a bit summery

SprayedWithDettol · 21/11/2021 12:10

I like the skirt v much. It is an all season item. Have a super evening.

AntiCornLawLeague · 21/11/2021 12:11

I do have another dinner out in London, but probably not central, later in December. So I think the skirt can get an outing too. I do have black lace up ankle boots which I think will work with it.

The boiler suit you already have is far nicer and more weather appropriate… it’s just lovely!

MeatyRvita · 21/11/2021 12:14

Wear the boiler suit- soho is cool and artsy so it will be suitable!

MarshaBradyo · 21/11/2021 12:20

Boilersuit is good

JamieNorthlife · 21/11/2021 12:28

I'm more Camden/Hoxton looks, so not very different than Soho.

The boiler suits looks perfect for Soho. If you decide on the Jumpsuit (better for a Sunday daytime), can you wear with a nice belt and a nice jacket. You may have to accessorise a bit.

The skirt looks great!

It's Soho! Glam doesnt go with Soho.
MatildaIThink · 21/11/2021 12:31

It really depends where in Soho, it is not one place. For some places that would be fine, for others it would not fit in at all and for others it would be hugely underdressed.

AntiCornLawLeague · 21/11/2021 12:33

I'll do a trying on session when the new bits arrive and I'll maybe post pics on here for opinions.

That Whistles jumpsuit says “sitting having a cocktail on a summer evening” to me. I think it’s lovely but feel cold just looking at the images!

Emmelina · 21/11/2021 12:35

Lovely for a summer evening, but I fear this time of year your legs will be icicles!

chesirecat99 · 21/11/2021 12:59

I love the floral boilersuit!

No one is going to care what you wear in Soho, whether it's a suit straight from work, ballgown, jeans and a t-shirt or lederhosen. On the other hand, I would imagine that boilersuit would get some admiring glances.

The Whistles jumpsuit is a bit meh. It would be fine on a summer night in Soho but I think it's just going to look frumpy if you try to warm it up with layers.

AntiCornLawLeague · 21/11/2021 13:03

I definitely see thay adding a cardigan is going to make it frumpy and a jacket might look odd, as a pp said... I do like it though, so maybe I'll keep it for summer. I also am being massively vain as, despite being a solid size 18, sometimes a 20, now, I've been weight training and working a lot on my arms. They have some actual muscles definition on them now, so I wanted to show them! But probably a December evening isn't the place. Plus, if I can wear something I already have and know I like, I mat as well be comfortable.

If you are going to Ronnie Scotts, maybe that's not the best option specially it can get chilly in there.

Where are you going?

I would wear a funky coat and some nice accessories Grin Grin Grin Grin

AntiCornLawLeague · 21/11/2021 17:31

No, not Ronnie Scott's! But thanks for the warning.

It's a curry place called Kricket

Another Londoner here. As lots have said, you can wear anything without raising any eyebrows but I think the lucy and yak is a much cooler outfit so I would go with that too!
