Have seen a few old threads like this so stole the idea hoping for some inspirationBlush

I'm currently living in leggings and jumpers, or baggy dresses and tights. I've recently lost just over 2 stone and hoping to lose more. My body size/type is already changing but I just don't know how to dress. I am 5ft4 and around a size 18 now. I don't really like my stomach area, and I have chunky arms and thighs and big boobs

Would love to know where everyone gets their clothes from and also some inspiration for outfit ideas. I usually use ASOS, Boohoo, New Look etc but finding that everywhere has crop tops etc which I really don't wantGrin

@Wagsandclaws

It was this dress - bloody steal at that price, tempted to buy it in burgundy too!
@Wagsandclaws love that dress! Defo get it in burgundy too.

What is the sizing like? Tempted to buy one for Xmas day

Wagsandclaws · 21/11/2021 14:11

The sizing With that one was spot on. The elastic waist makes it fit really well and hides my stomach too! The crossover front is great for big boobs, I got a 1x which is an 18, the material has stretch too. Smile buy it! It's perfect for Christmas Day 🎄

Wagsandclaws · 21/11/2021 14:51

Oh and I'm in bed today, I have an awful trapped nerve apparently called a c6 radiculopathy I was awake last night from 1 till 6 as I am in so much pain, I've got some mega painkillers from the gp but they aren't helping massively. Physio on Tuesday but it's awful as I can't sit down or walk today. Im in some new meds called gabapentin so I hope they help soon enough.

I'm in my fave lounge set. It's a pure cashmere white co hoody and joggers with a white stripe down the side. ( see pic )

I bought them in the summer on eBay - I don't know how you guys feel about pre-loved but for expensive stuff it's great ( and I always buy cashmere in the summer when it's much cheaper ) someone had only worn this once or twice and decided it wasn't for her and I got it for an awful lot less than if I had paid full price from the white co.

@AntiCornLawLeague that jumper is lovely, I'm a sucker for a cream jumper and I love m and s so much. Their stuff is great quality for the most part! That burgundy Breton stripe too is really nice too

@NotMyCat that top is really pretty, I've never bought anything from sea salt although they seem quite popular on mumsnet - nothing to do all day but browse the net so will have a mooch on their site.

@flowerarrangement I'm sorry you are going through chemo, that's tough, you are the same size as me and luckily there are loads of places that go up to an 18 and beyond - all of those dresses you've linked to are lovely. I've bought a skirt from hush this season ( first thing I've ever bought from them ) and the quality Is really nice. I like all those dresses you've linked to, looking forward to seeing the pics Smile.

I did receive a gorgeous jumper today from coast though ( I'll attach a pic ) that will be for my Christmas meal with my friends next month it's super glam and I'll wear it with some river island wide leg trousers and sparkly shoes I have. ( that's if my neck ever gets better ) 😭. Pic attached of my lovely comfortable loungewear and of the jumper I ordered

flowerarrangement · 21/11/2021 17:50

Hi Wags - sorry you're not right. I love your lounge set 😍.

I've actually carried on shopping, I need to make myself feel good about myself and wearing clothes that don't fit doesn't do it. Further additions below. Having said that I have got COVID and haven't been dressed for a week 😂.

The two blazers are both BNWT bargains for circa £50 each on eBay. Dress is White Stuff from M&S.

I love your jumper btw! Beautiful.

Wagsandclaws · 21/11/2021 19:46

@flowerarrangement those blazers look so nice, that dress is lovely too! I do love a bit of eBay.

You are absolutely right, you have to have nice clothes that for you and make you feel good about yourself. Sorry you have covid atm, ds 12 managed to bring that hime from school 5 weeks ago and I got it too - lucky wasn't too bad, tbh I think I'd rather brave that again than this bloody trapped nerve 😩.

I haven't been in the white stuff website for a few months, last time I did that I spent too much 🤣 I have complete done in my bank account in m and s atm as they have loads of gorgeous silk stuff in and I couldn't help myself. Silk trousers are hard to find in a 16/18 !

flowerarrangement · 21/11/2021 21:24

Poor you Wags, trapped nerve sounds horrid.

I daren't look for anymore clothes 😂.

The blazers are wool Per Una blazers, I like them, I would have paid full price for them.

I'm not sure about that White Stuff dress I've ordered, it looks busy but I will wait to see it in the flesh. That Joules blazer might tone it down a bit. It is the look I'm going for with the navy Chelsea boots, I think that was what made me buy it.

Can't wait to be out and about next week with new clothes that actually fit me.

Cheerbear24 · 21/11/2021 23:55

Sorry to hear you’ve got a trapped nerve wags. I had one operated on 10 years ago and i can still remember how bad the pain was. Mine was much lower down at l5/s1 though. I found heat helped. Hope the gabapentin helps.

CatherineCawood · 22/11/2021 08:48

Yes I have the same issue. 2 sizes bigger on my bottom half. Some Toast dresses work for me. Wrap dresses can be good. Am going to a funeral today and have got a dress which is thick fitted Jersey on top with a full slight box pleated skirt in thick fabric on the bottom. Covers a multitude of thick thighs!

Wagsandclaws · 22/11/2021 09:04

@Cheerbear24 yes! I have 3 hot water bottles that I'm using in rotation the heat is marvellous for the pain ( well that and naproxen and codeine 😩 )

I'm supposed to be going to Lapland with Dh and my kids a week Sunday and I'm determined to get on the plane even if I can't do the activities with them. If I have to stay in the hotel I'll take some lovely books and make the best of it. I hope I can at least go on one activity though as it's an expensive holiday and it's the first time we have had a finally holiday abroad in 15 years ( I'm scared of flying ) Sod's law this is 🙄.

@flowerarrangement I did buy the navy chunky boots a few weeks ago from white stuff,
My goodness they are so very comfortable! Sometimes I find that body dresses actually look better than plain, depends on the fabric but I have quite low apron belly ( which looks much worse sitting down ) I find that pattens can be quite good at disguising bits you aren't so happy with. Hope the outfits look good though - will look forward to a pic or two of you in them

@CatherineCawood ive never shopped at toast, I love good quality but they seem so very expensive - I'm covering one of their silk and velvet robes. Sorry to hear you are off to a funeral today, I hope it goes as well as it can.

AntiCornLawLeague · 22/11/2021 09:25

I'm still in my pjs Shock. Such a slattern I am!

Just my preschooler and me today. Dh is wfh upstairs and the older dc is at school.

wag, sorry about your trapped nerve! Sounds so painful!

Will post later with outfit.

AntiCornLawLeague · 22/11/2021 16:43

No pic, but I am in straight leg jeans, a grey and white stripe v neck tshirt and a navy v neck jumper. Wore with me barefoot shoes! Bit of a practical outfit, but it was freezing here today, so needs must!

Avelina · 22/11/2021 18:19

Loving all the pics & inspiration!

Sorry to hear you’re still feeling so rough @Wagsandclaws trapped nerves are awful aren’t they. Hope you start feeling better soon

@flowerarrangement loving all those choices! Some great outfits there! Let us know what they’re like when they arrive

@AntiCornLawLeague loving the jumper dress! I would love one like that but I’m so clumsy I would probably get it dirty within 5 minutesGrin. I certainly don’t blame you for todays outfit, it’s freezing isn’t it!

@CatherineCawood sorry to hear about the funeral. Your dress does sound lovely

Mylee · 22/11/2021 18:23

Ffs name change fail!🤦🏻‍♀️

Todays outfit is a jumper dress from Yours with about 10 layers under as I was so coldGrin boots from Deichman. These were a real spur of the moment thing, I saw someone wearing them and loved them so asked her where they were from then went and bought a pair immediatelyGrin wouldn’t normally wear something that out there but I do really like them

That's a nice outfit op. Really like the boots with it.

AntiCornLawLeague · 24/11/2021 15:56

Struggling to take a half way decent photo. I swear this looks nice irl (imho)!

Top is from m&s and trousers are from lucy and yak.

I think I almost have a waist here, which as a size 18/20 top heavy person, I think is pretty good.

Hope everyone's well and staying warm. Freezing again here! I'm staying in now unless the house falls down.

Wagsandclaws · 24/11/2021 17:29

Just checking in - today I'm wearing the attached photo but I don't look like her sadly.

Still in bed, saw physio yesterday who said I had a bulging disc and that was what was trapping the nerve. Could be up to 4 months apparently 😩.

On the plus side gabapentin is definitely working and I was up for a good couple of hours this morning. Suffering a bit for it now but want to get better as Lapland is only 10 days away.

You all look great I love those boots @Mylee!

@AntiCornLawLeague I love high waisted trousers, they are fantastic for giving us apples a waist - they look lovely I bet you feel really good in them Smile

Cheerbear24 · 24/11/2021 19:01

I like the navy and dark green combo 👍🏻@AntiCornLawLeague.
I have a cream top and Prince of wales grey checked trousers on as I’ve been into work today.

flowerarrangement · 24/11/2021 19:20

I really like the navy and green colours together Anti.

I'm still not getting dressed really, wearing black leggings and an old t shirt today 😬.

Two of the Hush dresses came today and I don't like either of them enough to keep them. The two eBay blazers are here and fit, I like them both.

Not sure what has happened to the third Hush dress. I arranged for my other purchases to be delivered at the weekend (click and collect).

I have ordered a couple of nice jumpers from Debenhams too - must stop shopping!

Myshitisreal · 24/11/2021 21:22

I need to catch up, way behind. It's nice to see this thread back.

I did go out Friday for lunch with mum. I wore the enclosed.. I didn't think to take a picture until too late 🤦‍♂️. Dress is from hellbunny, I have it in 3 patterns. I don't suit over the knee length and it has strings on the side to cinch so has accommodated my lockdown/bad health gains well. I wore it with black woolen snags. And a jack skellington backpack.

I don't dress like a typical mumsnetter, so look away if you're easily offended 😂

I Just bought a beautiful sequins skirt for Christmas. Been unwell the past few days and sick me likes retail therapy! I have one in red - it's Apparently pink and i hope it is so it looks different enough.

I made the cardigan. The boots were bought immaculate second hand to save me breaking them in. Genuinely the most comfortable things on my feet.

Love those boots @Myshitisreal! Very cute outfit.

Here I am today in Lucy and Yak boilersuit. Size xxl, which is quite a roomy fit on me, but I like that as I can add layers underneath.

I live in M&S trousers (no zip), T shirt and cardi. No need to dress up as I no longer work. The trousers are slim fitting. I shop at M&S through laziness basically, can't be bothered to look elsewhere and I know they fit. These look like they:

Sorry, these are the trousers. Appear to be out of stock at the mo. but you can ask Marks to notify you when they're back in.

Tomasinabombadil · 25/11/2021 19:49

I’m following for inspiration…. I’m in my late 60’s.. I just don’t have a clue what to wear nowadays for occasionally nice going out events. I live in the countryside and have dogs so day to day I’m in jeans t-shirts, sweatshirts, boots, wellies etc.
I have put on weight all over only in the last 5 years due to illness, from size 12 top with very small boobs & flat tummy and 12/14 large bum & thighs pear shape.
I’m still pear shape but now have to buy sizes 18 sometimes 20 to fit my bottom half which then swamps my top half because I still have smaller boobs.🙄
