Have seen a few old threads like this so stole the idea hoping for some inspirationBlush

I'm currently living in leggings and jumpers, or baggy dresses and tights. I've recently lost just over 2 stone and hoping to lose more. My body size/type is already changing but I just don't know how to dress. I am 5ft4 and around a size 18 now. I don't really like my stomach area, and I have chunky arms and thighs and big boobs

Would love to know where everyone gets their clothes from and also some inspiration for outfit ideas. I usually use ASOS, Boohoo, New Look etc but finding that everywhere has crop tops etc which I really don't wantGrin

@StormyTeacups love those shoes!

@onemoredayplease what sort of dresses do you normally like? I tend to get mine from ASOS or Boohoo, but often have to trawl through all the weird stuff!

Outfit change for tonight’s Christmas shopping! Pinafore dress from Yours with a plain boohoo T-shirt underneath, boots from F&F and my fav winter coat from a charity shop which annoyingly doesn’t have the brand in it. Would never normally go out wearing anything this short but actually felt surprisingly comfortable

I must start making an effort. I feel like a slob compared to you guys! I’ve got a red LIVE dress to try on, will post tomorrow if it fits.
I’m 5’9 and size 22/24. Very unhappy with my weight but can’t seem to get a proper handle on it.

onemoredayplease · 18/11/2021 20:16

Oh I love that! I've just ordered 2 dresses from shein but they are a bit dull I think. I've never used shein before.

onemoredayplease · 18/11/2021 20:18

I like knee length, nothing too low as I'm really busty. Not into lots of sparkle. I'd like something that is a bit different to my normal mummy type dress!

flowerarrangement · 18/11/2021 20:21

I feel like a slob here too, but had already started to order a few things to up my game a bit. 5'8 and an 18 thanks to medication over the last year.

I have had to order new clothes as I didn't have anything that fitted. I've bought a couple of dresses from SeaSalt and a jacket and a few tops from Joules.

I need to find some skirts - A line preferably if anyone has got any good ideas.

I bought navy suede Chelsea boots from Marks and Spencers earlier to wear with my new dresses.

Mylee · 19/11/2021 08:55

@Cheerbear24 oooh I would love to see it! It’s taken me ages even just to lose a couple of stone so don’t beat yourself up about it

@flowerarrangement navy Chelsea boots sound amazing! I’ve found some nice skirts in Next recently. They have an outlet near me with some proper bargains in there, but have also found some lovely ones online too

Hi @Mylee thanks unfortunately when I opened the parcel it was more of an bright orange shade, so I’m not keeping it. I did think it was a vibrant red. After feeling like such a slob yesterday I’ve smartened up washed, styled my hair and put a bit of tinted moisturiser and mascara on, and here’s the result.
I’m wearing checked shirt from Evans 22/24 bought in 2013! Long line vest and skinny jeans from George Asda 22/24 and black Chelsea boots from Clark’s.

@flowerarrangement I get most of my boots from m and s - I love the quality and they are so comfortable! Hope you love them.

@onemoredayplease beware that shein take a good 2/3 weeks to arrive, sometime a week depends if they have that stock in a nearby warehouse but most of it gets shipped for China so takes a while. As I said upthread. It's hit and miss but when you find a good one it's well worth it. If it doesn't get to you in time try simply be or asos as they have a lot of midi dresses in atm.

@Cheerbear24 I do hope you love your dress, it's hard when you are unhappy with your size, I used to be a 26 and the one thing I was grateful for was that at least there were some choices for larger people fashion wise, it's improved so much and most places stock a curve range now.

No matter what my size I did always try and dress nicely - I've attached a couple of pics of me when I was larger ( ha ha excuse the Santa dress ) but the other one I had dungaree dress, boots and a really nice fluffy cardigan on - I was about a 22/24 in these photos.

@Mylee that's a fab outfit, I love the coat!

Loving the outfits here. @Mylee, your Christmas shopping outfit is similar to my style, loving the boots Smile

And @Wagsandclaws, your style is fabulous and you have legs to die for Smile

I started my Xmas shopping last night too. It wasn't particularly cold so I layered this H&M cardi www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0993822001.html over a lighweight loose fit v neck jumper and these Monki trousers - www.monki.com/en_gbp/clothing/trousers-shorts/trousers/product.super-soft-trousers-black.0953942001.html

Added trusty chunky flatform chelsea boots and a pale grey snood (yeah, I know Grin).

Myotherface · 19/11/2021 09:19

Ooh, so excited about this thread. I've gone from size 10 to size 16 since stopping breastfeeding. It felt horrible at first and I'm still struggling to know how to dress my new shape. But strangely I'm also grateful for this change. Purely because it made me realise my body image problems and lack of confidence had never anything to do with my size. As a size 10 I honestly thought I was much bigger than other women and felt such shame for it. I felt exactly the same about my body as I do now 3 stones heavier.

I've made massive changes but mainly inside my head now. Doing lots of work on my body image and confidence. Have also started buying more clothes and more expensive and better quality clothes. Trying to put more effort into my looks and to wear what I like rather than what I think doesn't make me look too big. And it's definitely working!!

I ordered a stitch fix box recently for the first time and loved it. The skirt and the trousers in these pics are from that order. Just never know what to do with the waist area. Don't understand how other plus size women look amazing with their tops tucked in and it just doesn't look flattering on me at all. What do you all do?

Myotherface · 19/11/2021 09:20

Meant to post the skirt pic too.

Cheerbear24 · 19/11/2021 09:29

Nice skirt @Myotherface. It’s a lovely fit on you.
I can’t tuck my tips into a skirt, my belly is too big, but I think you could ? You could wear a slim fitting too either in or out with that skirt?

Mylee · 19/11/2021 13:35

@Cheerbear24 oh no that's so disappointing! Hate when something arrives and it's just not what you expected

@knackeredcat love the H&M cardi! Have been looking for something like that so may have to get itSmile

@Myotherface I know how you feel. I've realised that even when I was a size 10, I used to beat myself up every day about how fat I was and I was miserable, so I'm trying to focus on feeling healthier and happier rather than aiming for a certain weight or number. It's hard learning to love yourself isn't it, but hopefully we'll think it's worth it in the end. I've never heard of stitch fix but I love the skirt!
I follow a girl on Instagram called CCcoxstyle, she wears a lot of her stuff tucked in and will often wear a funky belt which draws attention to that

Massively letting the side down here as I'm back in jeans and a jumper. Not photo worthy! We are off out this evening though, so might change and take photos then.

BTW, I'm looking for a smart autumn / winter coat. Has anyone seen or bought anything plus size (very booby) friendly?

WinifredTheWondrous · 19/11/2021 13:39

Love all the pictures too!

Ooh..I've recently bought 3 pairs of those monki trousers! They feel so nice on. Think I need new boots to go with them though, I'm short so they look more too short than cropped iyswim
Mylee · 19/11/2021 19:30

@WinifredTheWondrous I have a few winter coats from Simply Be. They fit nicely and are really good quality

Right, I think I have spent enough. Basically none of my clothes fit. I am on chemotherapy and another drug and am a new size 18 thanks to the side effects.

I have a job where I need to be presentable, this week I have shopped 😂 the following ...

Dress 1

Dress 2

Dress 3

Blazer for smart casual office days

Dress 4 - the leaves version

Dress 5

Boots

Scarf 1

Scarf 2

Plus four roll necks and some tights and leggings.

Hopefully I will feel a bit more put together, and less like a sausage roll, on the days I do go into work. I will retire my debit card as it is probably about to burst into flames.

Photos will follow 😂, but I was completely inspired by this thread so thanks.

flowerarrangement · 19/11/2021 19:58

Oh and some M&S Eva jeans.

Hopefully that is a relatively decent wardrobe for the next few months. I've got a suit that fits for meetings and a couple of smart overcoats.

hennybeans · 19/11/2021 20:07

I'm 5'10", size 20, and I live in dresses and tights as they suit my pear shape.
Tights are always from Snag as they fit so, so well, largest size.
Dresses from Live Unlimited, Seasalt, and Sainsbury's mostly. Sainsbury's is hit and miss but the things that have been good have ended up as real staples in my wardrobe.

I've just bought this dress in three colour ways as it really looks good on and I think looks more expensive than what it is.

Not sure I'll win at style prizes here, but, I'm in a burgundy jumper and brown cord leggings with fluffy socks! All from M&S I think.

We had a big, Christmassy outing last night and I have some online training to do for work today, so not planning on seeing anyone much today.

I'm a size 18/20, top heavy, 5'8".

CrimbleCrumble1 · 20/11/2021 14:09

Mylee I love your outfit and coat.
Myotherface I like tops/blouses that have elastic at the bottom then they don’t need to be tucked in and the same for sweatshirts. Then they don’t feel to long or short.

AntiCornLawLeague · 21/11/2021 13:08

Another cosy day for me! Watching Christmas movies and sorting out laundry at the moment.

I'm in a big, chunky knit dress today. It's also from M&S Blush. I swear I do shop in other places, but they are definitely my favourite for about-the-house clothes.
