I’m looking for any bag enthusiast who will hopefully find this fun to help me out. I really like these three bags which do you like best /hate… or are they all hideous? If all hideous, please give a better option, your own most loved ones etc.

I want a mainly black bag, tote style, of about the size in the photos. I’ve never bought anything so expensive for myself. The bag is a gift to myself for promotion/working very hard on the front line during the pandemic whilst pregnant. I’m now on maternity leave and it’s time to get something lovely and treasured. I don’t want to spend more than 2.5k. I may even change my mind and think the whole thing stupid!

All great choices, especially the first one but then again I am a sucker for an all black bag.

I guess it depends what you will be using it for, as an every day bag or for occasional use?

Looking at the type of leather in person is important to see whether if it’ll scratch easily or if it’s quite durable. I have a speedy 35 bandouliere that I purchased in 2014 and have travelled to multiple countries with it and it still looks brand new.

Are you committed to Louis Vuitton or do you have your options open in terms of other designers? I opted for a Goyard St Artois tote in their black design last year, I paid around £1200 for it and it’s similar size to the LV neverfull GM tote and it’s held up great so far. I’ve used it as a day to day bag, a diaper bag and as an overnight weekend bag. Only downside with this brand is that there is no online store and purchases are made either at their store in London or via contacting them over email (during covid, not sure if they still do this).

Bear in mind many luxury brands are hiking up their prices (again!) so try to decide soon incase you get stung having to pay a couple hundred pounds more.

Treat yourself, life is short. If you can, go into the store to purchase to get the full experience.

The 1st and 2nd are both classic and will not date, at that price point it needs to last.
I don’t like the 3rd at all, too crass.

I like the 2nd one. I think the first one is a bit boring.

I'm a bag addict! Love the first one it's beautiful and I considered getting myself.

Sorry to be blunt but I really hate the other two. I do not like too many logos, it's much much better to be understated so for that reason number one all the way.

@JBFletcher90 you are right re: life being short, if anything, the pandemic has reinforced that. I am not sure why I have gravitated to LV. I’ve looked at all the classic bag websites and seem to like them the most. The first bag seems to get the most thumbs up here and you cannot go wrong with black! I shall check our your recommendation now.

@Sexnotgender See, I’m not the biggest fan of the neverfull, it looks less structured to me and a bit like a shopping bag 🤔 but I’ve not seen any in real life, perhaps I’ll need to take a shopping trip! Your second example is nice. Hadnt considered that look but it would be easier to wear. Looks less boxy. Classy. Though not sure about the gold clasps.

@Udouhun I agree but then not sure if the leopard print cheapens it.

@slipperyeel deffo re the price and longevity, I’ll be using the bag as a daily type accessory too. I think the responses have ruled out number 3!

I love empreinte and on the go is gorgeous.

I have a speedy 30 in aube empreinte and it is dreamy.
Leather has held up very well but i am gentle on that particular bag.

Personally i love both the first two links and would probably go for the nude in the first option or the leopard in the second. It feels a tinnny bit more special than black but its still a nice shout.

Worth having a think about what you'll be carrying. I'd say even a lightweight Laptop would be unkind to the handles.

On the topic... a total first world issue but...The coloured NFs in epi leather were A-mazing and more structured than classic NF i have major regrets about not getting one at the time either in red or aube

This is also nice but i tried it on in store and honestly you will never use the strap it feels weird on the body. So id only keep it on the list if you are happy using it as a "hand bag"

This bag is gorgeous. I nearly went for it myself a couple of years ago and talked myself out of it - and now can't afford it.

However: and I speak as someone who loves accessories - I would choose a different brand. Personally I think LV has had its moment and because it's such a conspicuous brand the rest of you has to be on point all the time or it risks looking a bit Turkish copy.

I have a couple of LV and I've mostly stopped using them as my style has changed from more dressy to utilitarian and I just don't feel they "go" any more.

I also wouldn't go for LV, especially with the big monograms they look to me like they could have been kicked up down the market for a tenner.

What type of bag do you use at the moment? I have realised after a few expensive mistakes that I am a shoulder bag wearer day to day.
I would go for your first choice or the Epi leather Neverfull.

@DedalusBloom thank you I love it so much. By far my favourite bag, I genuinely feel happy as hell wearing it!

I just have my work bag or nappy bag or rucksack. When I’ve had a proper bag-bag before it was a radley tote and I loved how I could hold it or have it on my shoulder and under my arm. I want a substantial bag that can fit good amount in it but not swamp me.

That BV bag is very appealing. Just want to squish it! It looks great. I will google!

I’ve got a toddler and a 6 month old. ALL my bags are Mulberry. Couldn’t give a shiny shite if anyone thinks they’re fake.
I live in skinny jeans, jumper & trainers😂
