Anyone else dislike current dress and top fashions?!

I am so not keen on floral, frilly, puffed-sleeve, loose-fitting dresses and tops. I also don't like shirt dresses, especially the loose-fitting ones currently around. I'd like to buy some new clothes and I just don't like the things that shops/websites are full of! Wondering whether anyone else feels the same?! And when clothing retailers will move on??

I’m bloody loving mom jeans, teddy coats (are they still in?! I have a gorgeous raspberry pink one) and leather leggings which have made a comeback

Struggling with the clumpy boots, t-shirts (the arms don’t suit me) & tiny little handbags because I have to carry so much stuff

I just try to add in one ‘fashionable’ thing to keep me looking up to date rather than head-to-toe fashion, and go neutral for everything else

I cant find anything I like, anywhere, at all recently.
Everything seems either way overpriced for what it is, or else too long, poofy and billowing. I don't like trousers or jeans so am struggling.

I actually altered a few of my older dresses into skirts and so on to refresh my wardrobe. I just have to admit defeat until something decent comes back on the market.

I have very, very few clothes at the moment as I moved away from the mountains last year. So everything I had previously was technical or for crazy outdoors weather. I wanted to create a few new outfits but have got nowhere.

I’ve just been browsing online clothes shops with a heavy heart. There is so much I HATE.

I can deal with the 90s throwback stuff - the jeans and block heels and ‘shackets’ - as they’re clearly aimed at a younger demographic, so I just swerve those shops. But it’s the overall drabness of the high street that gets to me.

Floral midi dresses. When will they go away?
Or at the opposite end of the die turn, any more interesting, structured dress is micro mini and even with decent kegs, in my 49s I just can’t.

Insipid colours. Ditsy prints. Drawstring waists. I long for more plain, deep, jewel colours, interesting prints and structured tailoring.

Puff sleeves and frills at the shoulder don’t suit me and will obviously date quickly and be unwearable by next winter.

Skirts are awful at the moment. Nothing looks well made, even at the higher end of the high street. I’m looking for a dressy skirt to wear with a black roll neck and long boots, but other than the satin pleated style that I find a bit ‘over’ and horrible leather midis, I can’t find a thing.

Where are women in their 40s on a mid range budget shopping?

God, excuse typos!

Die turn = spectrum
49 = 40s

Being pear shape, I quite like a lot of the current fashions - high neck tops. Midi, length dresses, bootcut/flares, puff sleeves, high waisted trousers, although I do concede that some people have gone overboard on the Amish/Laura Ashley/ peasant look.

@RoxOff I’d like to know too, i desperately need some new clothes as most of mine are too tight but I can’t see anything i remotely like!
