Over 50s influencers

Inspired by the over 30s thread I would love some recommendations for some over 50s influencers. Nothing too dressy - I have two dogs and two teenage children and a full time job.

Midlifechic fits the bill

PickleASturgeon · 12/10/2021 13:31

I was going to say Midlifechic, but see she's already been mentioned.

There's a few I watch on Youtube but I'm not sure I'd call them influencers as such.

That's Not My Age

Thesilvercat on Instagram has a relaxed style.

Ponks · 12/10/2021 15:30

On Instagram, Backofthewardrobe70.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 12/10/2021 17:38

Thanks for these ideas - I will take a look at them. Already a Midlifechic follower - she writes very well and not just about fashion. If only she was a little more dishevelled, not so slender ….. Smile

Midlife Chic makes my soul die a little bit.

Watching for ideas and sorry I can't offer any of my own.

lazylinguist · 12/10/2021 18:10

I don't generally follow fashion influencers - they are too glam and far removed from anything I'd actually wear - but I absolutely love thesilvercat on Instagram. I feel like I could wear practically every outfit she wears!

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 12/10/2021 18:58

Just looked at thesilvercat - gorgeous outfits.

I like goodbye crop top on Instagram

awaynboilyurheid · 12/10/2021 19:54

Midlife chic has an expensive lifestyle and the clothes are pricey too. She’s currently island hopping in Greece, I enjoy reading her page but it’s very aspirational and perfect. She does have lovely clothes though.

Borka · 12/10/2021 20:08

The clothes aren't all expensive - she recently did a post about the Anyday range at John Lewis and often shows clothes from Uniqlo, for example.

ImSoMagical · 12/10/2021 20:22

Shamelessly placemarking to follow this thread, I have just looked up each and every one on Instagram 😁. In need of some inspiration and have just signed up to stitchfix - hoping to find my over 50 fashion mojo.

AnnieSnap · 12/10/2021 23:26

I’d like to see some over 50s and cool over 60s. I strongly recommend CathiRae on Instagram. She is older still. Incredibly stylish, body positive and feminist - what’s not to love?

Gooseysgirl · 13/10/2021 00:22

The Midlife lady seems lovely! I tend to only read her clothing recommendations and scroll through the lifestyle stuff which I find a bit boring. She absolutely knows her stuff about clothing quality though! But she needs to lose the 'buy me a coffee' pop-up on her website when she can quite clearly afford her own...

1frenchfoodie · 13/10/2021 06:54

Thanks for the CathiRae recommendation @AnnieSnap - smart, edgy and a charity shop trawler, what’s not to to love. I liked some boots she was wearing and a quick google shows they are £45 vs the usual Insta £££

AnnieSnap · 13/10/2021 08:36

@1frenchfoodie she’s great isn’t she? 😀

doesntmatter · 13/10/2021 12:05

Remus what do you mean?

Mercurial123 · 13/10/2021 12:20

Isn't Midlife Chic a walking advertisement for Hush? Unless she's changed her style. I haven't read her blog for awhile.

doorornottodoor · 13/10/2021 12:24

I like Midlifechic even though she’s much more preppy than me style wise. I like her writing. She’s really good on little details of clothes that has made me think a lot more about the cut of clothes.

Other than that I just follow people whose style I like rather than age specific.

doorornottodoor · 13/10/2021 12:27

Wears my money is great.

LoveLabradors · 13/10/2021 12:27

I think she was dropped by Hush mercurial - she was all over Hush up to a couple of years ago but never mentioned now. Now she’s back to Boden and John Lewis. She does write very well and undoubtedly knows her stuff about the fashion industry but something about her comes across as rather smug. She just seems to promote her perfect family and idyllic, privileged life whilst bizarrely quite often playing the sympathy card for things. I will admit that is probably quite unfair and I’m sure she’s a decent and nice person but perhaps a little more self awareness required in her writing. But in her latest post about Crete the snobbery was very apparent.

doesntmatter · 13/10/2021 12:33

I wondered if she'd been dropped by hush. She made a dig about not liking their new collection and has never worn any of it since!!! I think she has a very nasty streak to her which puts me off but she writes regularly and consistently to give her credit.

Rookie93 · 13/10/2021 12:34

Shamelessly place marking, as in dire need of inspiration to help with general post lockdown/ aging funk.
