With short black skirt and hoodie, or a short black dress.

Not for me, but I’m very funny about tights. I don’t like dark tights with lighter coloured shoes, otherwise bare legs or nude tights if you really have to! Think white heels with black tights (shudder!), but I suppose it’s not as bad with trainers as the look is less formal.

But it’s still a no from me.

TwooThirty - you kind of have it really. I have to wear black, but my black ankle boots are too uncomfy for the miles of walking i will have to do on the day (London between 3 venues).

I could take a big bag and put my ankle boots in it and carry it round all day but i'd rather not. I wanted to wear my white Supergas. I've only got one pair of comfy shoes and it's them. [/quote]
What about wearing leggings and trainers? I’ve done that before, and think the gap at the ankle sorts out the weird tights / trainer combo

Henrysmycat · 22/09/2021 19:55

I don’t only because I have the shortest legs and I try to maintain same colour line of trousers/tights and shoes.
If I had the legs, I’d wear it but then I see it in London all day so it’s not some fashion sin for me.

AnnieSnap · 22/09/2021 20:26

I say nay, but it looks okay on the model in the picture.

Laiste · 22/09/2021 21:00

It's this Sat/Sun so haven't been yet.

Thank you all. Reading carefully. Interesting mix. Some great suggestions :)

I don't think i can pull off leggings under the skirt. And i couldn't do leggings on their own. I haven't worn leggings since i was preg with DD. I don't actually own leggings. Look fine on everyone else obvs. Not saying they don't :)

I'm very undecided. They're forecasting 22/23 in London this weekend now. I've started to gradual tan my legs, but i'm thinking now i'll roll the dress up small and bung it in my overnight bag but plan to actually wear black skinnys (sorry fashionistas) white vest, black cardi and the trainers.

I've got to stay low key you see. I don't really stand a chance of looking very trendy so i just want to sort of melt into the (very trendy) background ...

Bit out of my comfort zone tbh.
I grew up in London but i've been a country bumpkin mum for years now.

FreddieStandensBFF · 22/09/2021 21:30

Ooh go on. What’s the worst that could happen?

thefelineofthespecies · 22/09/2021 21:38

The thing about London is there's about 9 million of us here so no matter what you wear, there'll be others dressed the same. Also, we're mostly too frazzled to pay the slightest bit of attention to what others are wearing. Go for comfort. Like a pp i wouldn't bat an eyelid Grin

starsandstuff · 22/09/2021 21:41

Is it helpful that my standard fashion advice is “literally wear whatever the fuck you want”?

Ddot · 22/09/2021 21:52

If you want to, then go for it. May look better with black and white trainers. I'm sure you can get it to work.
