With short black skirt and hoodie, or a short black dress.

Nope. And the trainers in the photo above are pale grey - it STILL doesn’t work.

Blossomtoes · 21/09/2021 11:33

@MrsFin

It's a bit Minnie Mouse, so no
You read my mind. I wouldn’t do it.
bumpertobumper · 21/09/2021 11:57

I would do this without a second thought. Unless going somewhere where I had to be 'smart'. If just out and about comfort more important than style surely. ( don't think I belong on this section Wink)

Snoopsnoggysnog · 21/09/2021 12:04

Maybe it would work with black trainers?

BobbiPinsOn · 21/09/2021 12:05

NO NO and NO

SuperStarRose · 21/09/2021 12:14

I always think of white trainers as spring /summer trainers. Now the weathers autumnal I wont be wearing white trainers till the spring. Now it's darker trainers and boots to match our British weather.

Divebar2021 · 21/09/2021 12:27

With footless tights yes!!! Although it begs the question why you bought boots that are not comfortable to walk in?

Spottyegg · 21/09/2021 13:28

Wear cropped trousers and you would be fine. I used to wear short skirt, tights and white trainers at uni - a looong time ago.

OnceMoreOnToTheBeach · 21/09/2021 13:33

@Bluntness100

Defintely it’s a no. It’s like socks /tights and sandals.
I love socks and sandals
Geamhradh · 21/09/2021 13:36

Good god no.

TheFormidableMrsC · 21/09/2021 14:13

Absolutely not

Porridgealert · 21/09/2021 14:17

Definitely, no. @TwooThirty. If I'd been on the fence, that look would have definitely pushed me off and into the no camp. Just...no.

BreakfastOfWaffles · 21/09/2021 14:19

@LittleRen

At the point it becomes too cold to wear trainers and skirts/dresses without tights it’s time to switch to boots.
This is my yardstick too!
Lottapianos · 21/09/2021 14:19

I totally would. I'm a Londoner and no one would bat an eyelid at your outfit plans.

notacooldad · 21/09/2021 14:20

It's a pretty standard look where I live. So if you live in a Lancashire market town you'll fit in!

TwooThirty · 21/09/2021 14:24

@PegasusReturns and @Porridgealert I wasn’t posting the photo as vote in favour of the look, it was to show that it looks like you’re commuting and about to change. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Nothanksverymuch · 21/09/2021 14:24

@MrsFin

I was coming onto say the exact same!

Minnie Mouse

randombear · 21/09/2021 14:25

Try low tops black converse instead?

FiveIsMoreFun · 21/09/2021 14:25

What if you snuck in a pair of chunky socks between the trainers and the tights?
Reminiscent of the legging/ leg warmer/ trainer combo in the 80s.
Or indeed, try leg warmers!

Couldhavebeenme3 · 21/09/2021 14:35

Only if you're 14 and have bad fake tan and spider leg eyelashes.

I live in a small Lancashire town. It's not a look I see. I wouldn't care if people wore it but it's not going to win any sartorial prizes!

+1

Would and have (and a very similar outfit, by the sound of it) Grin

Peggytheredhen · 21/09/2021 15:06

No!

Laiste · 21/09/2021 15:08

Thank you every one.

OK. Although some would, the majority say no and there's no point in asking if i'm not going to listen so i wont do it.

I have to address the ankle boot thing - why un-comfy - they're ok for a 15/20 min walk, but they are quite new and i'm still breaking them in. Dune boots. I have very 'tender' feet at the mo - 7 months in flip flops! No way i want to be in those boots all day walking between Westminster, Waterloo and Lambeth.

This event is this weekend and it's looking like it might be fairly warm in London. So - i'm thinking black jersey shift dress (just below knee), bare legs (bung on some fake tan) and the white trainers? (flip flops in the car just in case) I'll take a long black cardi.

Maybe not but it's a more stylish look than some of my neighbouring towns wear!
I won't comment any further as I don't want to offend Lancs towns!
