Thanks royal style fans for the thread title!
We need banquets, some diplomatic visits and more weddings. Oh and more of gorgeous Charles (you know the one I mean!)

Sheikha Moza had seven children 😯

Maireas · 13/10/2021 19:48

Both beautiful and elegant women, but I do wish they wouldn't freeze their faces. It takes all the warmth away.
I like Sheikha's top.

On the topic of Botox and fillers- I am in mid 50s haven’t had any “ work” done but sometimes struggle with the effects age is having in my looks. I try to compensate by exercising, choosing clothes carefully, taking care of my hair etc. Anyway I did a presentation via Teams yesterday and the woman who had organised it ( whom I’ve never met IRL) was, I was delighted to see, sporting quite a few wrinkles but was stylishly dressed and coiffed and radiated energy. I just found that really encouraging as she’s at the top of her profession but obviously confident enough to eschew Botox etc.

Kate at Kew Gardens today. Nice pieces individually but not sure about that coat with those trousers.

Is that Sadiq Khan next to William? I had no idea he was so short!!

KillingMeDeftly · 13/10/2021 20:19

@whataboutbob I think there is good "work" (see JLo, Liz Hurley etc) but at the point at which they look frozen then it's time to take a step back!

Maireas · 13/10/2021 20:23

Yes, Sadiq Khan isn't very tall. I like Kate in green, I think she suits it better than the usual blue. That's a nice coat, I wonder where it's from?

OP posts:
KillingMeDeftly · 13/10/2021 20:24

Apparently it's an old coat by the marmite Erdem @Maireas

Maireas · 13/10/2021 20:26

Oh, thanks, Deftly. It doesn't seem like Erdem - I really don't like their dresses! Hideous (in my opinion). The coat I'd wear, though.

Eaumyword · 13/10/2021 20:26

I like Kate's outfit and also that she's continuing the literal dressing theme - Kew Gardens today, must wear green! Smile
Agree, 'good' work looks great, but it's a fine line not to go too far. I understand how addictive it must be and also how difficult it must be to age in the public eye. It's hard enough like you say Bob, to see your own ageing process in the privacy of your own house!

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 13/10/2021 20:32

That coat is all wrong with the trousers. Like two rectangles stacked on top of each other. It probably looked fine in motion but in the photo not so much.

paradyning · 13/10/2021 21:57

It's reminds me of the Kermit dress. Green on green isn't good.
I liked the sweater though when she took the coat off.

StartupRepair · 13/10/2021 23:17

Not sure about the 2 greens. I am in a discussion elsewhere on the alleged wrongness of black trousers with a coloured top.
And I love Mary,'s boots! Suspect the 80s were my decade.

MotherofPearl · 13/10/2021 23:21

I also think Kate looked better minus the cost.

Incidentally, that mustard outfit Rania is wearing is also Erdem. Like you Maireas, I generally think their clothes are hideous, and that outfit of Rania's is no exception. So fussy!

whataboutbob · 14/10/2021 08:01

@KillingMeDeftly I guess you are right, there’s probably interventions that are skilfully done and don’t scream “ work”. I suspect it’s a question of being in the know re skilled practitioners and being able to pay a premium for them. But when do you stop? How and when do you tail it down so that the way you look isn’t hopelessly out of kilter with your real age? Living in London I see a lot of improbable lips and melamine foreheads.

I agree - I think tapered trousers, like the purple pair she wore in Northern Ireland a couple of weeks ago, should have worked much better with the coat.

I know Trinny & Susannah had a “No bright colours with black!” rule, but I’ve never much followed that. If I had that that coat of Kate’s though (in my dreams, given it’s Erdem Grin ) I’d have worn a green and black snakeskin print silk top under it (or a similar print).

KillingMeDeftly · 14/10/2021 10:24

So do I @whataboutbob and mainly on women in their 20s/30s! There is one particular clinic (in Manchester rather than London) who occasionally come up in my Instagram feed and it's actually horrific what these young women get done to their faces.

latedecember1963 · 14/10/2021 12:50

I like the cut and colour of Kate's coat, but I agree that a different coloured sweater underneath would have worked better.
I see William's wearing his trusty navy chinos. Bet he doesn't spend ages planning his outfits.
I think I'm the only one of us that thinks fondly of the Kermit dress. 😁
Rania and Moza look amazing.

Necks. Necks not matching faces.

GrouchyKiwi · 14/10/2021 19:04

I quite like the two greens together - looks nice and fresh - but agree about the cut of the trousers. Cigarette trousers would have looked cool.

What was the Kermit dress?

The Erdem coat was first worn in their NZ tour, and has then been re-worn quite a few times. Kate's literal dressing does crack me up sometimes.

paradyning · 14/10/2021 19:30

Latest photo from the set of The Crown's next season. Diana is pretty good but I'm not convinced Dominic West (caddishness aside) is the best choice for Charles.

Thanks paradyning. I really like that whole outfit. Grin
