Help! Which Chelsea boots shall I send back?

postingfortraffichere · 16/09/2021 21:30

I already have black dr martens so I guess I bought these Chelsea boots to wear for work in very cold winter days and also for evenings and shopping trips when you want to look casual but with a hint of smart.

I love both - but feel silly keeping both as they're very similar. The one with brown stripe I feel adds a more casual vibe - but I like the tall length of the dune ones I think maybe they're more on trend?

Which do you prefer?

Number 1 (dune)

Or number 2 (from schuh)

£150 to follow the current trend.
£75 too look timeless.

I'm glad I don't follow current trends, couldn't afford too. 😜

postingfortraffichere · 17/09/2021 17:41

@PalmarisLongus 😂 I know, I'm ridiculous 🙈

@BuffySummersReportingforSanity I know!! Totally ridiculous right lol.

Oh I really am on the fence!!!

The only solution is to send them both back.

Do you really really need them? Or could that money be better spent elsewhere? Like sending it to someone on Mumsnet...
I'll pm you my PayPal

(Not really..)

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 17/09/2021 17:51

Definitely one for me but I've been looking for a pair just like them to go with dresses.

Washeduponthebeach · 17/09/2021 17:54

2

snowspider · 17/09/2021 18:01

Ticketybooboo · 17/09/2021 18:05

Much prefer no. 2

2020nymph · 17/09/2021 18:08

Another vote for 1, which it does sound like you prefer! Grin

postingfortraffichere · 17/09/2021 18:10

@snowspider I have skinny legs I can tell the ankle part would be too loose on them!

SocksAndTheCity · 17/09/2021 18:11

Definitely the Dune ones for me (#1) Smile

Disfordarkchocolate · 17/09/2021 18:12

No 2 just, neither are my style though as they are both so heavy looking.

MapleMay11 · 17/09/2021 18:15

Definitely 1 but I would want an even bigger tractor sole. Grin

Colourmylife1 · 17/09/2021 18:17

At the risk of sounding very old, which pair are more comfortable?

BikeRunSki · 17/09/2021 18:20

1, I like that they are a bit oversized

Noshowwithoutpunch · 17/09/2021 18:21

Prefer 2

ILoveShula · 17/09/2021 18:24

1 - I'm not mad keen on either

The DM chelsea boots didn't fit me either, if they did half sizes they would have

carolinesbaby · 17/09/2021 18:24

I prefer no. 1

ILoveShula · 17/09/2021 18:41

It's not that I am not keen on them, I think they're great but I probably wouldn't want to spend lots of money on something that might not be trendy for long

Tooembarrassingtomention · 17/09/2021 18:42

They both look quite lightweight. What are you going To wear them to do?

postingfortraffichere · 17/09/2021 18:46

@Tooembarrassingtomention more casuals winter days at work and on weekend shopping trips or even nights out (more casual ones say to a restaurant) I want ones I can wear with dresses and jeans

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/09/2021 18:50

The Dune ones are too narrow and too long in the leg compared to the foot . I think of those skinny boy jeans and 14 hole DMs .

The 2nd pair are nicer of the two but it really depends on where on the calf the back sits . There doesn't look to be much flexibility in them .
My feet and ankles would be knackered (tired not ruined) after a day .

I would send both back though

Sally090807 · 17/09/2021 18:52

1, don’t like the brown stripe

neveradullmoment99 · 17/09/2021 18:52

@BuffySummersReportingforSanity

Number 1 boots look really big and clumpy

Exactly! Which has been the trend for 2+ years.

If OP wants to look current, boots #1 are the way to go.

If OP wants to look nondescript or is going for a more classic but less distinctive look, boots #2.

This! I don't like no 2 but love number 1's
Lovemusic33 · 17/09/2021 19:47

If you like them both and can afford to keep both the that’s fine.

I bought a pair of Chelsea boots yesterday, I already have one pair but wanted some that had a chunkier sole. I’m planning on buying some trainers too. It’s fine to have 2 or 3 pairs of shoes/boots for the winter 😬.
