And, I'm back from Shepton Mallet... The welcoming drink thing was basically some paper cups, a bottle of fevertree tonic and a few apples, near the door of the full price bit. Wasn't offered to me, but then I didn't show signs of wanting to browse there - although it does look lovely. The "archive shop" is still a bit thin on stock, but the nice lady who was on the till said she was chasing that up with head office, and she hoped there'd be more soon (there are almost no jumpers or long sleeve t-s at the moment). There are still two rails for each size - smallest being 8/10 - which have some of last year's stock at sale prices - there just isn't an awful lot on each rail. However, there's also an extra coat rail, an extra velvet rail, an extra pyjamas rail, quite a lot of random footwear, and a samples and odds and sods rail. Which is where the real bargains are! I've now got a pair of sample skinny jeans (in size 18 - whoever makes samples in that size?) and an oversized wool blazer - £100 for both. There are also scarves, occasional bags and so on - I have my eye on a kate spade leather backpack which is reduced, but still pricey. It sounds as if they're hanging on to see what happens with the rest of the shopping complex, and getting by sales from their regulars (like me). So, probably not worth making a special visit, but if you're in the vicinity definitely worth popping by.
