@faustina, went down to a 10 but wonder if I should have gone down to an 8. Both dresses have now been dispatched although separately (I paid £7 for next day delivery). Agree, their customer service is very hit and miss: when I tried it recently, it was very much a "no, can't do" (this related to asking for a different size in a dress I ordered in the summer sale but I needed a different size and as the sale had closed that day, they couldn't accomodate it even though they had shown the size as being in stock at the point that the sale ended).

@neveradullmoment99, i don't think you'll regret keeping it.

@ToastCosILoveIt - would love to see how it is on you when it gets there - hope it fits. I'm thinking of giving mine its debut on Saturday if it's not too hot!

Saurus72 · 16/09/2021 16:19

A few new things added to the Toast website. I quite like this, love the colours but florals are generally not for me so will have to see in person www.toa.st/products/decorative-floral-crepe-dress-oil

Saurus72 · 16/09/2021 16:20

Oooh, love the look of this www.toa.st/products/organic-cotton-cord-skirt-oil

Such a gorgeous green and no gathers at the waist should work for those of us with hips!

I like this one too - and looks like a new style. Don’t think I have seen that before.

Also keen on this needlecord raglan shirt in Forest.

Spottyegg · 17/09/2021 14:00

Thanks for the link. This is very pretty sweater. I’m a sucker for teals and greens!

AuldFox · 17/09/2021 14:02

I like that too @Spottyegg

I swear, I could open a branch of Toast given how many items I now have Grin

applecatchers36 · 17/09/2021 15:10

That is a very pretty lace jumper 😍

Feedback on returns, so sent back my jumpsuit and wrong size Cardy late Weds and got notification of refund today, which is less than 48 hrs so seems much improved

Snailhaterz2 · 17/09/2021 18:59

I live nearish to the Shepton Mallet outlet shop, which is now being rebranded as an "archive store" but also has a small collection of current season stuff. And I've been invited to an event over the weekend with a "seasonal drink" to preview the new season. This is mainly because there's a change of ownership of the complex that the shop is based in, with most of it now closed, and they need to reassure customers that its still open. I will report back!!

ScottishMouse · 17/09/2021 19:16

I happened to pop into my local Toast today just as they were unpacking a huge delivery. Lots of lovely stuff arriving.
I bought a neckerchief for my sister’s birthday, which is what I went in for, but I also tried the Organic Cotton Twill Padded Jacket. The green colour is beautiful, the anthracite is almost black (more black than some of their other washes blacks and slates). It is lovely and soft and quite well padded so feels cosy. But oh my was it massive! I am a 10-12 in Toast tops and dresses. I tried it on over a dress and a sweater, and I tried a xs, but I could still have fit two more sweaters on underneath! It had great wide arms for fitting sweaters under, but it just looked too wide and bulky. A shame, as it would be a perfect autumn jacket.
It also did the thing that a lot of Toast jackets do, where the back sticks out at the bottom. I don’t like it as it looks like a bad fit. I thought it was just my body shape, but it does the same thing on the model online.
I didn’t try anything else or see much else as they were still unpacking, but will go back next week and have a better look.

ScottishMouse · 17/09/2021 19:17

@Snailhaterz2, I’d love to visit the archive store at Shepton Mallet. Sadly I am about 300 miles too far north.

Saurus72 · 17/09/2021 19:24

@Snailhaterz2 I visited the Shelton Mallet store in July. It’s a lovely big store, as is the Mulberry store, and I searched and searched but couldn’t find anything to buy - I couldn’t believe it! There were definitely some great bargains although when I visited there were virtually no size 12s which was a shame. I’m not hugely surprised that the rest of Kilver Court is closing, it’s not really big enough to be a destination I would think. I hope the Toast shop survives as it’s lovely.

faustina · 17/09/2021 20:01

ooh the Shepton Mallet store sounds great. what kind of prices/discounts and sizes? Maybe worth a journey!

I’d like to know about the sizes too, especially if they have sizes 6/8? I’m going to Bristol in a couple of weeks and might try to swing by and support the store spend too much money
TempleofZoom · 17/09/2021 20:58
**@Theteapotsbrokenspout, I agree with @neveradullmoment99, the Mila is much smaller in the bust than other dresses of a similar design (and i have several of them). I am a high street busty 12 and have tried this dress on in Marylebone in a 12 and I definitely couldn't size down to a 10 as I can in so many other Toast dresses, including past versions of this style. Seeing all of this talk about the dress has made me go on line and buy it. Just as well as it now appears to be sold out in all but the 8.

I have also purchased the denim workwear dress in a 10 but am wondering, based on the reviews online, if I should have even sized down to an 8...
Im a RL12 and I bought the size 10 Denim workwear dress today and its roomy enough to layer underneath .
Thanks to whoever posted their pic as I wouldnt have bothered to try it on.
The Toast pics dont really do it justice.
Nothing really grabs me from the new stuff but I might try on the cord dress.

I also tried on the Alix Chanterelle trousers in a 12 and they are huge, also very short in the leg and unlined.

faustina · 17/09/2021 21:01

@AuldFox - I will race you - because obviously we all need to support the economy!

TempleofZoom · 17/09/2021 21:01

@faustina

This isn't really toasty in any way, but has anyone ever knitted anything by Marion Foale? I fell down an internet rabbithole yesterday and found she designs the knitwear for Margaret Howell which I've long coveted. I'm going to attempt one of these
Yes! Ive got her book here somewhere Thats lovely !
iguanadonna · 17/09/2021 21:18

@Saurus72 I also love the colour son that new floral dress. But I can't be doing with viscose in autumn/winter - too cold on the skin.

Ordered two jumpers, the lace yoke green one and blue with wintery pattern. No xl so hoping the l is generous.

faustina · 17/09/2021 21:54

@TempleofZoom

it was me with the denim dress - so glad you agree on its loveliness! And I've ordered the Marion Foale book from eBay as it's out of print - her designs are amazing and really mostly haven't dated at all. I can't understand why I hadn't seen them before!

Thanks for posting the pic @faustina
I had gone off toast denim as some of the dresses were so heavy but this is a lovely weight.
Yes I might dig my book out -very wearable

neveradullmoment99 · 17/09/2021 23:14

@faustina

What a shame *@MrsCat1*

I just bought the denim shirt dress! This is an 8. I can return if I change my mind - going to try properly when I get home. Do you think it looks too big?

This is so gorgeous on you. Very tempted now :) Is it thick. I can't be doing with thick dresses. It does not look to big.
Snailhaterz2 · 18/09/2021 08:33

@faustina @AuldFox Up until recently there's been a rack or two in each size, with the occasional additional rack of - say - coats or velvet items of all sizes. And sometimes sample sizes, which tend to be small. And prices roughly sale price, and the clothes roughly last season. But, the last couple of times its been a lot thinner, so I'll be interested to see what its like now. I'll report back!

AuldFox · 18/09/2021 11:12

Thanks, much appreciated @Snailhaterz2 you’re like our trusty Toastie reporter Grin

faustina · 18/09/2021 12:18

@Snailhaterz2 - yes, undercover reporting at its most useful - thank you!

@neveradullmoment99 - I'm thinking of giving it its debut today. It isn't thick at all - a long time ago I had another shirt dress in black denim which was so thick you had trouble moving in it, so I do know what you mean!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 18/09/2021 15:05

My crinkled cotton dress and wrap skirt arrived today. The skirt is lovely, I ordered my normal size (12) and it’s quite loose on the waist but I don’t think a 10 would fit, it’s sits nicely on my hips so I think that will work for me.
The crinkled dress is a small and fits well on the shoulders but it’s a lot of material from there down and is almost to my ankles. I need to try it properly and sort out what shoes / boots to wear with it. I definitely want to keep it but need to be sure how and where I’m going to wear it.
