@Laska2Meryls, have you tried asking customer services if any of the stores have a size L in stock? You can then call them and do a mail order. I have done this a few times in the past. You usually get charged for postage, but it also usually comes with dpd next day (at least that is how Llandeilo sent my items).

What about a longer one like this -

So I thought I would come back to update you on the swingy denim dress. Am an 18, largest avaliable was a 14 so ordered that and then swapped for a 12 as too big.

Am soooo glad I went for the 12 as it has stretched a bit with wear. I've worn it three times so far which is not bad considering that I got it Friday and have spent since Tuesday in either my own bed or a hospital bed being ill!

The fabric has softened and the neckline now automatically stands up/turns out a bit. I've worn it with nothing under, bare legs and white trainers. Also with bretton stripey 3/4 sleeve t-shirt and tan flat knee high boots.

I bloody love it and just know I will be wearing it for years to come.

I popped to the Brighton shop to return the pjs I bought that I couldn't get on! Confused how can you be a 12 in a dress and can't get large pjs on!?

They were v nice so shall go back, shop is a good size and it looked like they had loads of stock. Once I'm back to out and about I'll go take a look. Didn't have time Sunday as was watching DH finish the half marathon so had to dash.

I wish they did the denim swingy dress in another colour I would buy it for sure.

I don't want to wash mine as I don't want it to fade. However it has baked beans on it so no going back now!!!

Sorry that was v.long!

Swing dress in an 8! Made the right call. May have even gotten away with a 6. Ridiculous. Love it though.
Looks fab!
CatherineCawood · 16/10/2021 15:07

@applecatchers36 I'll be keeping a keen eye out to see what the next similar thing is. It is easy and comfy and LUSH 😁

CatherineCawood · 16/10/2021 15:33

Has anyone bought the needlecord raglan shirt? Thinking about the slate.

If anyone has either size please could they measure the bust/ hips?

Quick heads up…a few items in JL Toast sale at 70 per cent off - including the Brush Stroke dress for £67.50.

faustina · 16/10/2021 16:26

@CatherineCawood - that does look really nice on you - with and without the stripey t-shirt. I bought the other denim dress and even though not a dress wearing person, like you I've worn it so much already - you're swaying me towards taking another look at the swingy one

Hope you feel better soon!

CatherineCawood · 16/10/2021 16:40

thanks @faustina I'm feeling way better than I did 24 hours ago. Steroids, nebuliser and antibiotics have all done their job!

@TempleofZoom if the 10 drowned you get the 6. The 14 didn't drown me but the 12 is better. On top I'm a 38c bust and I have the 12 if that helps. I wouldn't worry about the hip measurement I don't think anyone would have any issues with that in any size!

I just found this website 8 websites like Toast looks interesting.

NoCureForLove · 16/10/2021 17:09

Good link Catherine!
The Phaedra site is intriguing. Ghe instrictions on how to order is hilarious / Shock

AFingerofFudge · 16/10/2021 17:58

Haven't been on much, as I haven't bought anything recently, nothing was calling my name from the new stuff, but I do believe there are some more things on their way so perhaps I'll be tempted. I have some lovely things from last winters collection that I bought in Spring sales so I'm looking forward to wearing them.
Generally I find Caitlin Moran quite amusing but actually it is irritating that the media still try to dictate what people can wear. Does she not realise that we can wear what we like, whatever makes us feel good??
Anyhow, I'm sitting here in my wacky Lucy & Yak trousers and feeling great about them!!

I've worn my grandmother's clothes since I was about 14 - she had a fabulous wardrobe and it's still all mostly going strong

Those were CM words not mine I hasten to add! Really irritated me the whole piece. Im on the " Old ladies are experts at life" thread and quite frankly CM can F off with her nonsense. One of my GM was amazingly stylish and made all her own clothes, the other was a gardener and dressed for that life style. I am sick of women being told that they are wrong all the bloody time. Grrrrrr

faustina · 16/10/2021 18:47

@TempleofZoom - yes, sorry I was quoting Caitlin Moran - I knew it wasn't you. The whole passage was a load of bollocks, but I was particularly annoyed by the grandmother comment - her dresses are what I wear when I need to look like I really made an effort!

neveradullmoment99 · 16/10/2021 19:14

Interesting article. Doesn't really chime with me though. My best time clothes wise was probably in my 30's-45!! I found a new sense of me then and felt I could wear what I wanted. As for now in my 50's I do
worry I am making myself look older in Toast clothes. I do love the clothes that I have but worry that I look stupid in them but I know its just a bit of insecurity. Yesterday, for the first time, I wore my red check button through skirt. My daughter [10] said I looked beautiful. My dh also approved but when I had put on my parka and walked to the supermarket, I honesly looked at myself in the mirror and saw a dishevelled mess!
I hate those days....
I am not always like that and did enjoy wearing it but I have days where I worry about how my perception of myself compares with the reality!

neveradullmoment99 · 16/10/2021 19:15

Then I think f**k it, why should I care what others think!

neveradullmoment99 · 16/10/2021 19:18

I suppose one of the most important things with Toast is never to over do it. Just wear an element otherwise I may be in danger of looking like an edwardian school mistress!

neveradullmoment99 · 16/10/2021 19:19

I try and grunge it up!

mizu · 16/10/2021 20:15

I follow Phaedra on Instagram and love her dresses but get put off by the buying process - which I love in principle, she only makes a certain amount of things each time - and then never buy anything.

I've got the Caitlin Moran book, quite funny in places.
