Made a visit to Marylebone today to try on the Decorative Floral Crepe Dress in a 10 and a 12. Both fitted but I preferred the 12 around the bust. It is a lovely dress, sold out online.

Also tried on the oil cord Gabis which are a deep, deep forest green. Tried the 12 but think the 10 is going to be a better fit.

There was lots in store but had the husband with me and he was cramping my style in terms of beign able to be in there for an hour trying it all on .

@Greenfinches you’ve summed it up perfectly, I have to say that today I feel utterly exhausted by it all. I ordered the bud check dress in size 12 and it it just enormous, comical.

But I also ordered the decorative floral crepe dress, also size 12, which is IMO just beautiful! So so happy with it, really flattering I think and feels fabulous.

I bought this in a Toast shop today. It's lovely - fabulous colour and very nice shape - fitted at the waist, then A line.

Went in to try on the denim swing dress - which I've now officially given up on after trying on 4 different sizes at different times. I want to love it but it's not right on me. Don't like the neck...

@applecatchers36 - and nocure too - wonderful autumnal colours. It's really hot here right now, so I'm not feeling quite ready for it myself

It's a much nicer colour in rl. Very bright. I'll wear it with blue...

Lam Check Cotton Boat Neck Dress

Green check kin dress is a keeper. Size 8… I’m a 12… 10/12 in Toast dresses. It’s a good fit, I’d have preferred cotton and a thicker fabric, but it drapes nicely. Hope it washes well.

That looks lovely on you @AmethystMoonShine. I don't suppose you tried the needlecord one too did you? I was hoping to hear a report back from someone on here before ordering

@AmethystMoonShine - forgot to ask! Was your button sewn on back to front too? The one at the neck of the gingham dress

@faustina yes I do have the green needle cord which I am also keeping. It's very much like the Toast tiered needlecord from last year. I have the navy and the ginger colour in those and loved them last winter. So easy to throw on over thick tights or leggings when it's cold.

Yes my button is on the inside too - I think it's just meant to fasten inside so the button is hidden? Mine fastens okay - I think you said yours wouldn't undo?

I'll post a photo when I wear the green needlecord dress...probably very soon! I don't need another dress in that style at all but green is a very good colour on me, so I'm not missing out .

@AmethystMoonShine - yes I know exactly what you mean! This is why I'm also thinking of buying it - did you get an 8 in that one too? It's out of stock in 6 and 8 but have put my name down for notifications for both. If as oversized as the gingham I'll order the 6

@faustina I got the 10 in the needlecord, whereas my Toast ones in the same style are 12s.

I love to look at Toast stuff, and enjoy seeing the posts in this thread, but I wonder if one actually is a size 6, how the hell to they go about choosing a suitable fit from Toast? Even on their instagram store images, when some of the models are smaller or petite, it would leave me nervous of purchasing.

Several items I'd had in my basket have been deleted, because as the reviews come in, im noticing more and more customers around size 12/14 saying even the UK6 swamped them. It's just ludicrous and shuts out a large section of the market. As do many youth focused stores, except the other way around, so yeh...

It's so annoying.

Well, she has just released a new collection .. Yes they are a little more expensive than Toast but not much and beautiful fabrics. She will make them to order for you and you can ask for adjustments on size. I have a few things of hers now where she had made the waist more relaxed for my apple shape waist and have just ordered the new Carey Japanese Denim culottes .
I am sure that a lot of you will like her Kathryn dress..

@Pheasantlysurprised - I totally agree with you! And they aren't even consistently oversized, so you often have to send things back, but at least the returns are free.

The thing that annoys me is often very small makers have bizarre sizing which varies between styles, no shop to visit, and they charge you to send the things back when they don't fit. I like to support small businesses but that just puts me off completely and I don't order

Today I'm wearing my Alix indigo twill trousers and I put on my Ivar jacket and discovered it's the same fabric - looks really nice together!

I’d like to put in a good word for the needlecord shirt dress - the one with pin tucks. I usually wear size 8 in Toast dresses but ordered a 6 having seen the reviews, and the 6 is a good fit for me. I think it’s a beautiful dress. From the front it’s quite neat and restrained, with lovely detail, and then from the side and back you see the dramatic volume coming from the pleats under the back yoke. They have made the armholes very deep which increases the comfort and will make it easier to wear something underneath when it’s cold. I’m really pleased with it

Amethyst, what colour tights / shoes do yiu wear with your green? I like the colour of ghe Kin cord dress but struggle with what to pair it with. Most if my wardrobe us navy / denim / black / grey and I wear nsvy/ black / grey tights...

@NoCureForLove I've not worn it yet....but, my plan (untested) is to go for black or grey tights with maybe my black DMs, or my oxblood Hudson boots. The Kin dress also unbuttons the whole way (unlike the similar Toast style of last year), so I've toyed with the idea of wearing it open over a Toast denim dress I have....that might look awful though

Ordered the neat wool cardigan in old gold from JL on a bit of a whim. It is so cute and cheery! Think it works with the jerkin too (if you cut the labels off carefully you can wear it both ways round as I have here).

Oh, they do look nice together. I shall try mine in the morning. I’ve been wondering about wearing it outside in as well, as I almost prefer the inside.
