Still swithering about the indigo jerkin. I think I am just between sizes, and neither is quite right. Not ready to give up and send it back yet, but I think I may have to.

TempleofZoom · 08/10/2021 18:26

Popped intoToast today to buy the Ukiyo print pyjamas.
Very disappointed that they are so thin!
Almost like a lawn.
Ended up with the brushed cotton Koyo pyjamas instead, beautifully soft and warm.
I tried on the Needlecord dress in a 10 , the brown slate is actually black, nothing brown about it all.
It was huge, all over including the cuffs.
Not for me.
Decorative floral and sprig print easy dress were in and both look really nice but the fabric is so thin and Im just not keen on viscose.
Perfect spring/ summer dresses but again I prefer cotton or linen.
The Cotton/ cashmere dress is also very thin sensing a theme here
I have last years , also the culottes and they are much softer and cosier.
Ditto the cotton cashmere shirt- it looks quite short and boxy to me @Laska2Meryls
Come on Toast-its winter !
I love the navy jacquard sweater but the ribbed hem!
It was actually rippled on the one in the shop.
I think they have chosen a rib thats too wide/loose for the sweater.
There were some lovely Latvian style mittens and a tam in the shop.
Sorry thats a bit meh all in all.
The shop assistant did say there are more things to come so hopefully some warmer dresses.

There's a cotton cashmere Toast dress on JL which doesn't seem to be on the Toast website. It's quite nice but ridiculously expensive!

@ilovecherries - that does sound disappointing about the cord shirt. Is it that particular shape you're looking for? They did a different one last year which I bought but then never wore - the same shape as the lovely needlecord dress we all bought

So there is !
Why is it so much?
The one I got last year was £135

ilovecherries · 08/10/2021 19:36

The seed check shirt on the JL website has been incorrectly priced for months. It should be £115 and it’s £150.

ilovecherries · 08/10/2021 19:40

I wanted something loose and long, faustina and ideally collared. And spruce green 🤣. I had a long list of requirements! I do love the needle cord dress from last year - in fact that dress is the only thing that stands between me and the denim swing dress, I feel the outline is too similar to need both.

ScottishMouse · 08/10/2021 19:50

I ordered the seed check shirt from John Lewis and what came was the dress. So the price is right but the item is wrong! I emailed them and told them but they never fixed it.
Saw that dress on there earlier too. Very pricey. Not sure I love the look of the sleeves, they could either be fab or terrible, I suspect they would be the latter on me.

faustina · 08/10/2021 20:18

@ilovecherries - I expect that's exactly why I didn't wear mine! Too similar to the dress

I think the Toast green cord shirt doesn't have a collar does it - otherwise perfect for you

CatherineCawood · 08/10/2021 22:17

Agreed @TempleofZoom (great user name!). The pjs are very thin and not wintery. Beautiful print but not sure they are worth £135.

Its the dress. Wrong pic.

I have the dress. I really like it.

Swing dress in an 8!
Made the right call. May have even gotten away with a 6. Ridiculous.
Love it though.

I have other crosshatch cotton PJs and nighties from Toast @CatherineCawood and they are a lovely mid weight cotton. The dhuggie from last year was a nice weight, not brushed cotton but similar weight. If it were hot enough to wear thin cotton I wouldnt wear full PJs anyway. Such a beautiful print Sad Im considering the Koyo gown and dhuggie. I really hope Toast arent going to skimp on fabric quality, its one of the things that draws me in.

That looks beautiful on you! Shows how daft the sizing is sometimes.
Theteapotsbrokenspout · 09/10/2021 09:02

That looks really good @neveradullmoment99 , much better in the 8.

ScottishMouse · 09/10/2021 11:51

Sorry @neveradullmoment99, I wasn’t clear there. I meant the new cotton & cashmere dress, not the seed check one. I like the seed check one a lot.

neveradullmoment99 · 09/10/2021 12:00

Ahh...the puff sleeve on on JL? I am not a fan of puff sleeves tbh.
I love the check seed one too :)

ScottishMouse · 09/10/2021 13:06

Yup @neveradullmoment99, puff sleeves definitely don’t work on me. I feel like I would need to be much taller, much slimmer, much younger, and even then I’m not sure about them!

faustina · 09/10/2021 13:28

@neveradullmoment99 - looks lovely on you!

applecatchers36 · 09/10/2021 15:20

Good buy neveradullmoment well done on working out the Rubik's cube Toast dress sizing 😂

Greenfinches · 09/10/2021 15:56

The vagaries of internet shopping at Toast remind me of my little granddaughter’s favourite book, Dear Zoo, where the zoo keeps sending unsuitable animals as pets and they have to be sent back (I wonder if they came with a free returns label?). The Toast version would go: “They sent me some trousers, but they were too short, I sent them back. Then they sent me a jumper, but it was too scratchy, I sent it back. Then they sent me a dress but it was too enormous. Though strangely tight across the upper chest. And made of viscose. I sent it back. Then they sent me something beautiful. And eye wateringly expensive. Which pretty much fitted (I kept it).”

Yes, 10/10 for deduction. It was a risky purchase as you never know...

Brilliant ! We loved that book when DS ( now 30!) was little...
AmethystMoonShine · 09/10/2021 19:11

@Greenfinches my daughter loved that book and it’s so appropriate for Toast purchasing Grin
