I would also be interested to know what size your jerkin is @ilovecherries. I think you said earlier in the thread it was a small? What size are you usually? I couldn't figure out if a small or a medium was better for me, I am busty and 10-12. I guess it would depend what you were going to put underneath.

ilovecherries · 29/09/2021 14:18

Jerkin is a small as that’s all they had left. I’m wondering if it should be bigger - I normally get an M in Toast. I’m a sturdy size 12, 32G

ilovecherries · 29/09/2021 14:23

I still have loads of room under the arms.

Gonegrey31 · 29/09/2021 14:25

ScottishMouse I have the check crinkle dress coming, I hope tomorrow - a size XS came back into stock. I'm normally a size S in Toast. Will let you know what I think.
I've sent back the Stripe Lace Yoke sweater (bought in the green colour way) - the colours are beautiful, but the sweater was a bit scratchy and size S too snug to wear with trousers/jeans etc. Perhaps I had a "small" one - I also find that the fit of the knitwear varies enormously.
Ilovecherries I do like the jerkin, especially in the way you have worn it. I absolutely agree that it "lifts" the outfit.

ScottishMouse · 29/09/2021 14:27

I don’t think it looks too small @ilovecherries

iguanadonna · 29/09/2021 16:23

@Gonegrey31 agree the lace yoke jumper is small. Short and very neat fit. L in this model is much smaller than the blue jumper with snowy pattern which I also have.

faustina · 29/09/2021 16:55

@ilovecherries - that jerkin looks wonderful with the oversized shirt and trousers, and I can imagine it would look great with a dress too. If it were me though, I'd be stressing about what if it's too cold to just be in shirtsleeves..and in my house that would make it quite short lasting

neveradullmoment99 · 29/09/2021 19:18

Here I'd the floral jerkin in medium.
I've slung it on. Doesn't match my t-shirt. It's quite bright!

Love it never. What are you thinking about it?

neveradullmoment99 · 29/09/2021 19:28

You are thinking it's too small. I'm thinking is mine too big?

neveradullmoment99 · 29/09/2021 19:28

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

neveradullmoment99 · 29/09/2021 19:28

Immaterial anyway as they are all sold out. Both colourways!

Yes, that’s a thought. I’m going to try it with dresses and fine knits tomorrow and see how it works. I often layer from underneath in the winter with merino base layers under shirts. The jerkin did add a surprising layer of warmth - I really noticed when I took it off.

ilovecherries · 29/09/2021 19:32

I certainly don’t think there can be much difference between the sizes. You are probably at least a size smaller than me, but the jerkins look very similar on, given mine is smaller than yours.
faustina · 29/09/2021 19:44

@ilovecherries - you're so right about layering! I'm stuck at home today and wore my denim dress for the first time to cheer myself up, but with a t-shirt underneath. I don't normally layer that way - usually jumper/cardigan on top - but it really has made a difference!

ilovecherries · 29/09/2021 19:59

I have so very fine knit merino base layers from when I used to ski - so about 30 years old. They are getting a little weary now but I’ve never found anything better and they are so warm even under quite thin top layers.

ilovecherries · 29/09/2021 20:00

I priced replacing them a couple of years ago, and hurriedly backed away!

AuldFox · 29/09/2021 21:31

I like the jerkin but I don’t think I’d wear it enough to justify the cost.

I am also someone who layers from underneath, I plan to make my Toast dresses work for autumn through to deepish winter by wearing my fairly ancient merino long sleeved Ts. I just need a good coat to work with the dresses. I tried on the herringbone coat, great fabric but I don’t think even the size 6 will fit me sob

Laska2Meryls · 29/09/2021 22:06

I have a couple of the Toast Merino layering tops now bought in sale.. but I d also recommend silk jersey... My old office was a ice box in the winter and id often wear silk thermals .. These tops are great and really long lasting.. I still have ones from about 6years ago ... expensive but wash and wear really well m.patra.com/products/LSN/womens-pure-silk-thermal-vest-silk-scoop-neck

Countmeout · 30/09/2021 08:08

Love the jerkins. I think they look really good on.

Has anyone seen the newly released black and white check dress that was on Instagram, only in shops they said so far. Although I have last years version bought in the sale that one looks very very tempting. If anyone has tried it can they advise if it’s a generous fit? I’d like to pounce on one when it appears online.

ilovecherries · 30/09/2021 09:00

I haven’t seen it but it looks a beautiful dress, count. I really love checks, have always preferred them to stripes as a pattern.

After talking about layering yesterday, I went on the hunt for merino tops and found very reasonable ones at Dillings U.K. They are £35 each as opposed to the £100 each they were when sold as skiwear so I may take a punt and get one to see how it wears and washes.

ToastCosILoveIt · 30/09/2021 09:11

@Countmeout, the black and white check dress looks remarkably like the Kin check dress that sold out recently.

@Countmeout, I saw it in store but didn’t try it on. I did try the shirt in the same fabric, the fabric was lovely but they didn’t have the right size. So sorry, can’t advise on fit for the dress, but it is very lovely.

Laska2Meryls · 30/09/2021 09:27

Can anyone post a photo of the new dress? I cant see Instagram...
My fairisle easy jumper should arrive today and I have ordered the Lys shirt which came back in stock on JL ... But it has.mixed reviews.. hopefully it is not too short or will look rubbish on me with my norkage..
