You so have to post that review donna, it’s perfect!

faustina · 26/09/2021 15:05

@iguanadonna - yes do post that as a review. I don't suppose you went home and made a pot afterwards did you? Smile

@ilovecherries - love the image of you sprinting across the road. I would have done exactly the same!

applecatchers36 · 26/09/2021 16:27

Wow ilovecherries an amazing find!

Lovely jumpers iguana - I like the trousers too, I think I have the same ones (felix?) But in a lighter denim.

Just posting a pic of me in toast - check dress from last summer. Feels autumnal now so wearing swingy linen stripe top today also from last summer.

Anyone who has the green jumpsuit from the recent sale - would you mind posting a photo as would love to see it on might be stalking one on ebay

Having a few days at home as we are at the centre point of the ‘8’ shaped Great Scottish Road Trip. We may not be able to continue anyway given the fuel situation. We were on the flashing light last night for much longer than I’m comfortable with. DD do happy to see me that she has invited me out for coffee and have to take the dress up opportunities where I find them Grin. Toast checked crinkle cotton cropped wide leg trousers, hush tank and a random shirt from a charity shop. And new toast socks!

Love those socks and trousers together @ilovecherries!

AmethystMoonShine · 27/09/2021 11:37

Some lovely outfits being shared, so good to see Toast on real people. Thank you to everyone that has posted pictures.

I’d very much like to pick the brains of anyone with Cord Gabis. I’m 5’6”, normal size 12, generous hips, bum and thighs.
I usually take a Toast 12 in skirts and trousers as a result.
So I’m wondering if Gabis will suit me? I like the idea of the simplicity of pull on trousers and live corduroy. I’m concerned they’ll be too short, especially for winter! I can handle an ankle crop but not trousers flapping around my calves.
Are they a flattering fit or just comfy? If that makes sense?!Confused
Anyway I’ll stop rambling, any wisdom or thoughts very welcome Smile

ScottishMouse · 27/09/2021 11:37

More Cotton cashmere loveliness on Instagram this morning (Marylebone’s store this time). I’m loving that check. Still not online, maybe I can swing a lunchtime visit to a store.

ScottishMouse · 27/09/2021 11:44

@AmethystMoonShine, I have Gabis (though not in cord), but am very straight up and down on my bottom half, so perhaps not the best source of info on them. I am 5’2 and have to turn them up twice to wear them over boots, so depending on what footwear you are planning with them, they may well be long enough for you. I have my usual size in Toast trousers with elasticated waists (2 sizes down from what I would be elsewhere). I wonder if you have a big difference between waist and hips if they would work so well as trousers with a fixed waist that you can pull in. I have very little difference between hips and waist (my waist is probably bigger actually!), and find the Gabis work for me, but can never get Toast fixed waist trousers closed. Not sure if I am making sense.
I find them relatively flattering, but not the most flattering of all my trousers. I find the rise a little too high. It is probably no different to the Alix trousers, but because they are not slim it is not so noticeable on those. I think they might be a bit of a marmite trouser, and probably just need trying on to see.
Hopefully someone who is a more similar shape to you than I am will come along with more thoughts.

AmethystMoonShine · 27/09/2021 12:00

Thank you @ScottishMouse. This is helpful as although we are different shapes, it’s good to know about the waist hip ratio consideration. Yes I have about a 10 inch inch difference! 30 Waist 40 hip Blush… you may be right in that I need to try a pair to see.

neveradullmoment99 · 27/09/2021 12:58

I have the gabis and all mine are a size lower. Well I am a 12/14 and i Have the 10. I am also pear shaped so wider on the hips and bum and I now have a stomach worse than ever since menopause!

neveradullmoment99 · 27/09/2021 12:59

The size 10 are fine on me and not tight at all @AmethystMoonShine

neveradullmoment99 · 27/09/2021 13:01

Love your outfit @ilovecherries and the @TheChattyRat

neveradullmoment99 · 27/09/2021 13:02

Love the Jumpsuit too @iguanadonna. I must have missed this when scrolling.

iguanadonna · 27/09/2021 13:24

@neveradullmoment99 sizing is big. Really big. I'm at least an 18/20 even in the most optimistic shops and am rather wishing I'd got L instead of XL. See my earlier posts for fuller review and also measurements.

@TheChattyRat thank you! Yes, those are the Felix jeans and they're actually a light denim; lighting just very bad.

@applecatchers36 and @ilovecherries very nice outfits!

@faustina I always unwind by throwing a pot at the end of the day. Don't you? Or maybe you prefer to swing expressively from a ladder poorly balanced against a plum tree?

faustina · 27/09/2021 13:56

@iguanadonna I prefer to stand on my derelict tractor gazing into the middle distance with a blanket wrapped round me actually - but each to their own Smile

faustina · 27/09/2021 14:01

@AmethystMoonShine I have the navy corduroy gabis from last year and I. must say I didn't wear them much at all - something about the style not looking so good in a dark colour (I have the pale cotton twill ones and love them). I think Scottish mouse has got it right though - if you have a small or defined waist you might prefer to try the cords with a button waist. perhaps order both and try together?

iguanadonna · 27/09/2021 14:05

@faustina my husband cleared away my derelict tractor, drat him. Something about tetanus.

faustina · 27/09/2021 14:08

@iguanadonna - LTB!

iguanadonna · 27/09/2021 14:11
Grin
ilovecherries · 27/09/2021 14:34

moonshine I have the gabis in both cord and twill, and I wear my usual size 12 in both, although I would say the cord is a neater fit than the twill - but that may be because I've had the twill at least three years, and some were from eBay, so they've had a lot more wear. Last year was the first time I had cord and I bought them new. I couldn't size down as the waist would then not go over my bum, quite frankly, although when they are on, there is more than enough room in the bum, hips and thighs, possibly slightly too much in the thighs, but not terribly so. Re length - they would definitely leave a bare bit if I didn't have socks on, and I'm 5'7. However, even in Scotland I wear them all winter, with either docs (where I need to tuck them under slightly to sit in the right place), or with brogues and socks. But I am a happy sock-flasher, which isn't to everyone's taste.

ScottishMouse · 27/09/2021 15:00

Made a lunchtime pilgrimage to my local Toast and I happened to chat to them about Gabis. They agreed that the cord ones are a wee bit neater. I had my eye on the concrete colour, but as a couple of reviews say, it has a slight greenish tinge that I didn’t love.
I also tried the cotton cashmere shirt, although they only had a size too small. But I didn’t love it quite as much in person. Definitely not £120 worth of love for it.
I tried the denim jerkin for like the 5th time, I always get a bigger urge when something has sold out online. But I left it behind again, it is definitely not for me. I must stop trying it and thinking my body and my lifestyle will have changed!
I saw some of the new dresses - the Decirative Floral Crepe Dress and the Sprig Print Easy Dress are both beautiful. I am not in the market for a dress like those though, so didn’t try them on.
The Chunky Merino Alpaca Hat jumped out at me, both colours are lovely. I didn’t try it on, but it feels soft and not itchy (unlike the Ribbed Wool Hat, which I preferred online).
I tried the new green padded jacket again, the colour is so amazing. But it is just massive, even an xs is far too big and made me look very wide (and I am not an xs). Such a shame.
So no purchases, and my credit card will thank me for trying and leaving behind, but I may order the hat and also the Forest green wool cashmere sweater when it comes into stock.

neveradullmoment99 · 27/09/2021 15:10

Thats interesting about the gabis and size difference. I only have the chino ones. Have them in navy and beige colour and in slate. With the exception of the slate, the other two were sale purchases. All are a 10. I would love a cord pair but will wait until its a bit cooler.

Thanks for that. I don't live anywhere near a Toast shop. Just as well. Its so interesting hearing others reviews.
