You are all enablers! ;-) You are right, the photos don't seem to do it justice. And yes, I've tried a few Toast denim dresses in the past and there has always been sooo much material and stiff material at that. This sounds like it's more comfortable. I've also bought the pinafore dress (tried that on in a shop) which is why I've held out against the workwear one so long. But you can never have too much denim, right? Bought from JL as I still haven't quite got over the returns debacle last time.

Saurus72 · 23/09/2021 15:28

I’ve come to report good news re: returns. I ordered a dress in 2 sizes and returned one on Monday, and gave just had an email saying they’re refunding me. That’s pretty good, almost as quick as JL. Praise be because the whole returns debacle was stressy.

agnesmartin · 23/09/2021 15:32

Whoop! That's good news, Saurus!

JustforToast · 23/09/2021 15:45

To those who have ordered the denim workwear dress, are you ordering your usual Toast size - or even a size below that?

Gonegrey31 · 23/09/2021 15:49

JustforToast I've got it in a size smaller than I normally wear, and the smaller size fits perfectly - not snug at all.

FiddleFigs · 23/09/2021 16:36

@JustforToast, I've got it in my usual Toast size (which is a size smaller than my regular dress size). I could have gone a size down, but I plan on wearing cosy layers under for colder weather, so wanted a bit of room for that.

Same here.
I got a 10 and there is plenty of room for layering thermals

ScottishMouse · 23/09/2021 17:21

You really are enablers, I just ordered the denim workwear dress too!

Gonegrey31 · 23/09/2021 17:34

We will have to have a meet up !
Interesting that this particular dress appeals to so many of us

ScottishMouse · 23/09/2021 17:37

Ooh, have just seen the cotton cashmere shirt that the Islington store have posted on Instagram. I want!!!

faustina · 23/09/2021 18:09

@Gonegrey31 - if we all stand stock still we could re-enact those ancient Chinese soldier statues Grin

savvy7 · 23/09/2021 19:41

Hi, can anyone recommend any brands similar to Toast in terms of quality? I've recently discovered Toast but have a number of gaps in my wardrobe, particularly for tops, that the current collection of doesn't fill? TIA

Saurus72 · 23/09/2021 19:51

@savvy7 have you tried Cos? I find their quality to be pretty good and consistent (but sizing can be weird so I’ve stopped ordering online).

neveradullmoment99 · 23/09/2021 19:55

You could try Cos?

agnesmartin · 23/09/2021 20:50

Maybe Finisterre depending what you are after …

savvy7 · 24/09/2021 09:51

Thanks for the suggestions - I will check those out

FiddleFigs · 24/09/2021 10:24

Steering the conversation back to the denim workwear dress - I'm just after some ideas for footwear styling, please.

At the moment, I'm wearing it with clogs or my trusty Vans. But looking ahead to the grim months, and wondering how others plan on styling their dresses.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/09/2021 10:26

Tights and boots?
Is it heavy denim or quite light?

neveradullmoment99 · 24/09/2021 10:27

I suffer from hot flushes. I can't do thick denim dresses.

faustina · 24/09/2021 10:46

it's quite light denim, and not stiff at all. I'm planning to wear socks and ankle boots or socks and clogs as I hate tights with a vengeance!

ScottishMouse · 24/09/2021 11:30

I too hate tights @faustina, and will also wear mine (if it’s a keeper, i’m getting ahead of myself!) with wool socks and Blundstones. I usually can’t get away with bare legs into the depths of winter in Scotland, but at least until November.
I would like to hear what people’s plans for layering it are, especially with jumpers…over? under?

neveradullmoment99 · 24/09/2021 11:36

I saw a photo of someone wearing it. It looked lovely. Also saw on Instagram the other dress denim a-line one ( didn't like in the styling conversations) but looked fab hanging up. Anyone tried that denim dress ( no colla r one.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/09/2021 11:37

Can anyone post a photo if wearing workwear dress?

neveradullmoment99 · 24/09/2021 11:37

I can't find the one that was posted!

neveradullmoment99 · 24/09/2021 11:39

Or if the swingy one?
