Customise a dress to show less cleavage?

Cleavage · 06/09/2021 20:19

I have a works do coming up soon. The dress code is evening wear. I’ve ordered this dress and I love it but it has a little too much on show for my liking? How can I customise it? Not too handy with sewing or anything!
Thank you

Not helpful, but you look stunning. I wouldn't change a thing. Yes there is cleavage but not too much and fine for an evening do. If you really wanted to change it, a little bit of black sheer veil type material sewn inside but so that it goes across the cleavage would look good.

sleepyhoglet · 06/09/2021 20:30

Or wear a silk camisole underneath

Loveluella · 06/09/2021 20:31

You could maybe add a piece of lace in. If you don't want to sew, wonderweb would work I'd imagine?

Letthelightoflove · 06/09/2021 20:31

I understand that for a works do you want to be a little more modest. A sheer black panel would work but can you take it to a seamstress if you’re not that handy with a needle?

nowwhat50 · 06/09/2021 20:31

Modesty panel in lace or a coordinating colour with your shoes and bag.

BelleOfTheProvince · 06/09/2021 20:31

A second unhelpful post of how stunning it looks.
Could you wear a crop top underneath in black of you don't want clevage (though it doesn't look like too much from here!)

nowwhat50 · 06/09/2021 20:32

Should have said, a modesty panel clips to your bra strap and covers at the front without the bulk of a camisole. Search on eBay and Amazon for them.

Bimblybomeyelash · 06/09/2021 20:33

I think it looks bloody amazing and you shouldn’t change a thing.

MissKeithsNeice · 06/09/2021 20:33

You look amazing.

I think cause of the length, its quite a demure look so I wouldn't worry about the cleavage.

Obvs if you don't feel comfortable, then maybe something sheer might help. But if you can muster the confidence I'd go without.

Wheres the dress from?

Cleavage · 06/09/2021 20:34

Ahh thanks for the kind comments!!
I will definitely look at modesty panels Smile

I wouldn't change it but if you're uncomfortable you need a modesty panel

It’s from Lipsy Smile

It’ll depend on how I’m feeling on the day I think! If I’m feeling brave I might wear it as is. But need a backup if not. I don’t tend to wear stuff like this usually.
Went with a long dress so I could wear flats as I can’t walk in heels!

Do you have any bras in different styles that are less push up or plungey. I have to have a variety for that purpose so its not a criticism!

It looks sensational. Slightly booby. But everything else is covered and very classy so i think you get away with it.

DialSquare · 06/09/2021 20:43

Something like this?

Lots of advice here...
I'm not crafty enough for these I usually use a safety pin. GrinGrin

Wallabyone · 06/09/2021 20:49

Another who has come on to say you look stunning! I wouldn't cover up too much as the b is a good neckline o you.

Thank you - I’ve just ordered a top just like this from Amazon but in black lace

Just buy some large black silk flowers on hair clips and clip one or more along the V.

TheGallopingGourmet · 06/09/2021 20:50

What about a really nice brooch to cover your modesty

Jumpingintosummer · 06/09/2021 20:51

Silk or lace insert. Could be added with poppers to allow you to swap or remove.

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 06/09/2021 20:54

Have you tried it on backwards? 😬 I probably have no idea! But those modesty panels sound useful!

MissKeithsNeice · 06/09/2021 20:55

If you do want to cover up, I would definitely go for black and plain/opaque rather than voile or lace.

You must have really long legs if you can wear that with flats!

Exactly what I was going to suggest.

I sometimes wear a minimiser bra and "adjust" my boobs so there's less cleavage.

Really stunning OP.
