Washing hair every day!

Every single morning my hair is completely unmanageable and needs washing! No matter what I do I always wake up with sort of matted, rough, crazy hair that takes longer to try and tame without washing than it does WITH washing, but still, don’t have time for either really! Anyone else have this problem? Have any amazing tips ? Thanks

@Beautifulday345 what shampoo are you using? Try to cut out anything with silicone as it's bad for your hair and just coats it and builds up.
Many shampoos and conditioners have silicone but try one that specifically says on it silicone free. Once I cut out silicone- when I then tried using a shampoo I'd previously liked again rather than wasting it all (which did contain silicone) my hair didn't like it at all then my hair had to go through another transition to cut it out again ha ha.
Please let us know how you get on if you try this!

This is a really old technique but I've been doing it successfully since my teens...wash, condition, apply hair product of choice if you want to, rough dry with brush but without bothering to shape etc. The just bung in some velcro rollers to the dry hair and get on with breakfast, makeup, checking emails, whatever...take the rollers out after 15 minutes or so, and finish it. I use light hairspray to weatherproof it a bit, but you don't have to.

i have washed my hair every day , sometimes twice, since I was a teenager and will continue to do so until I’m physically unable to .
Could not bear the thought of not doing it, in the same way everything else is showered every day

Yep, same here. Life is too short to spend every second day feeling rubbish because I haven’t washed my hair!

I was a wash hair every day until covid hit and I worked from home. No need to wash hair every day nobody was going to see my greasy mop. So I went every second day, then every third day. A whole year on, my hair is never greasy and has never been in better condition.

Sorry everyone been so busy, the silk pillow or hair wrap sounds like a winner! I’ll have to invest, thank you 😊 and I love the feeling of freshly washed hair but it’s the hassle of drying/straightening after I really don’t need.

@Mymindblown I use herbal essences, is that any good

This works for me. I put my hair up in a claw to shower on those days I can't be bothered to wash my hair. I avoid getting my head under the water but it gets slightly damp with the steam. 2 minutes to style and it's good as new.

@Beautifulday345 I suspect they are likely to have silicone in. Check the ingredients for words ending in cone conol or xane - although those ones that are prefixed with peg and a number e.g peg 13 are ok as they wash out easily ....
I've just had a quick look at a couple of the conditioners in the herbal essences range and they have silicone in them, so you may be best to try one that specifically says silicone free. Check the ingredients of the variety (scent) you use.
The garnier ultimate blends are I think all silicone free but you can check each range. Certainly the almond one is and the coconut water one. www.garnier.co.uk/our-brands/hair-care/ultimate-blends/our-blends there will be lots of other brands that advertise as silicone free though - just check that both shampoo and conditioner have none in.

I have to wash mine every day. I'm not sure what I do during the night but I wake up every morning looking like the lead singer from A Flock of Seagulls.

25yearsnhsworker · 02/09/2021 22:09

I wash mine everyday. I feel so out of sought and it almost affects my mood if I don't wash it which seems strange but its true.
I tend to put mine up everyday now since PPE was introduced at work so not doi g the whole straightener etc.

Or grow it long and wear it in a top knot - gel it flat, and no one is any the wiser as to whether it's clean or dirty - I suspect over washing may not be great for your hair, never mind the time factor

I’ve got long (bra strap length) fine but lots of it hair. Have tried without success to not wash every day but hair is prone to greasiness at roots which looks worse on my blonde hair. I also feel cleaner with freshly washed hair and do lots of exercise so I’m resigned to it now.
My routine now is to shower as soon as I wake ( shampoo/ conditioner), wet brush out the tangles, breakfast, make up then dry hair with dyson air wrap before leaving house. I blast with the hairdryer attachment for a few minutes then use the brush function. Probably takes 15 mins total to look semi polished.
The only time I’ve ever avoided washing every day was when I was on roaccutane.
