Washing hair every day!

Beautifulday345 · 01/09/2021 08:51

Every single morning my hair is completely unmanageable and needs washing! No matter what I do I always wake up with sort of matted, rough, crazy hair that takes longer to try and tame without washing than it does WITH washing, but still, don’t have time for either really! Anyone else have this problem? Have any amazing tips ? Thanks

After years of washing every other day and basically hating my hair all day on day two, I’ve recently given up and started washing it every day. It’s made me feel so much better about my appearance.

MackenCheese · 01/09/2021 09:36

I'd suggest brush your hair at bedtime, add a tiny amount of coconut oil through it and tie it in 1 or 2 bangs. Sleep on a satin pillowcase to stop the hair from drying out.

I accept the fact that I wash my hair every day. Different to you, mine is a greasy mess after 24 hours. I spent a while year during lockdown only washing it every 2-3 days in an attempt to 'train it' because some people are adamant it's over washing that causes it. But if a whole year doesn't fix it then I accept my fate Grin

MiseryFire · 01/09/2021 09:53

*whole year

BigPyjamas · 01/09/2021 09:58

There are worst things in life than washing your hair every day.

I wash daily. Occasionally every second day when the stars are aligned (hair feels good, no big plans, it's not too hot, feeling good about myself) but otherwise it's a quick wash.

I feel much better about myself and it looks better. I'm otherwise eco conscious so I see this as my indulgence.

3dogsnorth · 01/09/2021 11:06

I have been an every day hair washer for many years. I also wake up like a birds nest. However I've just discovered co washing. Washing hair with conditioner only. My plan was to do it every second day but I'm experimenting and now on day 4 and my hair is NOT a greasy mess. I'm hoping that less shampoo stops stripping out my lovely highlights!

lazylinguist · 01/09/2021 11:30

I'm 49 and I've been a daily hair washer since I was about 13 (except for a couple of phases when I tried following people's recommendations to 'train' it out of needing daily washing, which didn't remotely work!). Unlike yours, mine looks lank and a bit greasy if I don't. Mine takes 30 seconds to wash and 2 minutes to dry though, so it's not really an issue!

PandoraP · 01/09/2021 11:32

I was my hair every day as I swim most day and also to feel clean. I feel like I need a full shower including hair to wake me up in the morning. My hair is quite dry, but improving at the moment as I am investing in some really good products and stuffing my face with nuts and avocado Smile

Anordinarymum · 01/09/2021 11:44

All of you with dry unmanageable hair - stop using shampoo and Co-wash instead. It's a game-changer

Muminabun · 01/09/2021 14:12

I have kids, baby, dogs, ponies. I wash my hair every day because it is dusty, sweaty pooey mess. I have to wash it with proper shampoo. I have loads of big hair and it is ok nice condition but proper shampoo is a must for me.

JennaPenna · 01/09/2021 14:16

Just wash it with conditioner?😱 what!?
I want to try but I'll be pissed if it doesn't work and have to wash 😂

samthebordercollie · 01/09/2021 14:19

I wouldn't have any hair left if I washed it everyday as so much falls out then. I manage 2 or 3 times a week even though I do sport everyday. It's dry and always a mess so there's not a lot of difference when it's washed or not.
Your hair soon gets used to not being washed everyday. Like your body adapts to skipping breakfast.

fuzzymoomin · 01/09/2021 14:23

I'm interested in this co-wash thing, never heard of this before! My scalp gets greasy by day 2 and water alone won't remove the grease though?

Beautifulday345 · 01/09/2021 14:34

@BigPyjamas of course there is 🤣 I’d just like to free up some more time in the morning, in the hopes it’ll be less of a stressy rush.

Thank you everyone for all the tips, I have tried co washing, I then end up with stiff greasy hair 🤣 can’t win! I keep thinking of investing in a silk pillow case, maybe I should suck it up and get one!

I swim everyday,so I wash my hair everyday, been doing it for years.

minipie · 01/09/2021 14:43

I wash everyday. Sadly my hair is fine and thin so takes about 10 minutes to dry naturally. I don’t find it adds much time to a daily shower.

I agree with the comments about trying co washing - but only if your hair is thick, dry, and wavy or curly. Mine’s the exact opposite!

Beautifulday345 · 01/09/2021 14:46

@minipie my main issue is the time spent drying and straightening after ( again absolutely neeeeeds the straightening or I look like a frizzy lion ) 🤣😩 the key would be to wash and straighten every other day and there be some magic trick on how to keep it nice in between washes but I haven’t found it yet

Alicetheowl · 01/09/2021 14:46

I wash every day but I have fine hair in a bob, so not too much drying or styling needed. It doesn't feel right if I don't wash it every day, I don't feel clean. But I shower every day, so it's only another few minutes. I don't really get the whole taking time business, surely most people shower every day?

SpeckledyHen · 01/09/2021 14:54

I have washed my hair every day , sometimes twice, since I was a teenager and will continue to do so until I’m physically unable to .
Could not bear the thought of not doing it, in the same way everything else is showered every day .
I don’t get what the problem of time is ? Get up earlier or cut back on something else .

alwaysstressed · 01/09/2021 14:57

You should look into a Gokdwell Keratin treatment absolutely life changing for my dry frizzy hair!!

Beautifulday345 · 01/09/2021 15:01

@SpeckledyHen you ok? The problem of time is, washing, drying and straightening takes about 40 minutes which I’d rather not be spending doing my hair in the mornings, not sure how getting up earlier will make that happen quicker? I’ve not said I’m late anywhere because of it 🤣

@alwaysstressed thank you, I’ll have a look into this, is it done in a salon or something you can do yourself?

You get it done at a hairdressers.
Its pretty expensive and mine last about 6 months now that ive been getting it done for so long.
But trust me its so worth the money!!

JaninaDuszejko · 01/09/2021 15:55

If it takes too long to wash then cut it short, it then takes less time to wash and dry. When mine is a pixie I only dry it on the coldest days, otherwise I do a bit of finger styling then let it dry naturally. Great on hot summer days. I swim so wash mine every day. It's part of my daily routine and doesn't take long.

Motnight · 01/09/2021 15:55

Try sleeping on a silk pillow case. Worked wonders for my hair!
