I'm on a mission to collect all the scents that remind me of my life. Some are what i wore, and some just remind me of friends or are just scents I used to smell all the time
I'd love to hear what other people's are!

My DS wears Boss Bottled which I really like on him - I must try the women's version.

My first real love at 14 was Saint Laurent Rive Gauche. It's smells horrible now but it reminds me of coming of age during a lovely family Christmas - the first time I'd asked for perfume.

At 17 my parents sent me nannying in Canada and I bought a huge bottle of Opium on the plane which lasted me the six months I was there. Incomparable to how it smells now.

The only other scent which really affected me was when I went to Paris on our one year wedding anniversary, pregnant with our first child. One night we ate in the rooftop restaurant of the Pompidou Centre. It was an almighty rip-off but our waitress smelt amazing and she was wearing something called Blue, but can't remember what it was, even though we bought it the next day!

What a lovely thread. So many olfactory memories already mentioned.

I have so many! Here's the main ones...

Avon Roses, Roses - my mum's signature when I was little

Anaïs Anaïs - my first perfume bought for me by a very sophisticated aunt for my tenth birthday in the early 80s

Avon Soft Musk/Tasha, TBS White Musk/Fuzzy Peach - high school, 80s

Coty Wild Musk - wore to my first gig in 1987

Paco Rabanne La Nuit - what I wore when I was going out with my first girlfriend (my first proper relationship), summer 1990

Tocade, Casmir, Magie Noir, Opium, Deci Dela - early/mid 90s, living in London and having a brilliant time

Angel - Late 90s/early 00s. Left London with baby DD, this was my only real indulgence. Whenever I smell this now I'm reminded of DD being tiny, v happy memories

Shalimar - wore for my wedding in 2004 and for years after, still do

Al Rehab Choco Musk - the cheapest perfume I've ever worn and the one I get most compliments on (several times a week, from strangers!). I've worn this almost every day for five years and it's my signature now.

I still own bottles of most of these (apart from the ones I've run out of and have been discontinued). My favourite of all is probably La Nuit, but it's long discontinued.

Elena by Al Rehab is a perfect dupe for Ananya. It's only a couple of quid on eBay and Amazon and it's lovely.

@Gonnagetgoing apparently the EDT has been discontinued :-( I only learned this last week. Frustrating as the EDP is very different.

That wasn't you whom my DH chased down the aisle of an aeroplane one time, was it? A lovely lady passed by his seat and kept going on to hers...as she passed by DH got a whiff of her perfume and chased her down the aisle to ask her the name of her amazing scent. Turns out it was Givenchy Aramige..
He bought me a gift selection of Aramige that came in a satin round red box with a green attached ribbon...one refillable bottle was gold.
Very chichi! Still have it...

Also still love Pheromone from Marilyn Miglin...been wearing it since the early 80s

Love Anais Anais, it seems to be popular with the MN crowd. I still wear it from the 80's, too...I guess I'm from the "if it ain't broke, Don't fix it" school of thought

I loved that at 16/17 maybe younger!

I recall a few from my teenage years:

Body shop fuzzy peach and white musk interspersed with impulse.
Also in late teens early 20s body shop nutmeg and cinnamon body scrub, a nivea body oil of similar scent in blue bottle, Lancôme aroma something I think but in a purple tub, so relaxing…

When I was 21 or so or maybe slightly later I recall buying a Gap perfume maybe in a metal container guessing it was heather lavender scent. Lovely

Kenzo Le monde est beau is what my mum used to wear in the 90s. Loved it on her

I used to have Laura Biagotti Roma - you can still buy it now - was launched apparently in 1988 - but as I'd just left school don't think I could afford it! Probably bought when I was between 18-21/22. loved it!

There's another perfume I can't think of the name - thought it was Giorgio Armani but can't be...

Also had Bulgari Omnia Amethyst and Amarige as well but not overly keen plus Elizabeth Arden Green Tea - gave to my mum.

Ooh! Trying to think in order of using / age - the 80s definitely had some strong scents. Anyone remember Georgio Beverly Hills?! It absolutely stank - I’m sure I read somewhere that it was banned from certain LA restaurants. My ex SIL used to wear it and it would honestly give me a headache within 30 mins.
