80’s Make-up; wasn’t it great!

Nostalgia from another thread.
Anyone remember multiple eyeshadows?! I used to have bonkers palettes and do mad combinations e.g inner corner would be fluorescent pink, middle would be shimmer, outer purple - normally set in stone with wetted brush! Then crease emphasised with deeper colour and brow bone highlighted with more shimmer. Coloured mascara was a thing plus I may have had matching eyebrows on occasion! However, I was on the London club scene. As for clothes . . . I yanked myself into a black, PVC dress (talcum powder involved - then baby oil) - then was too chicken shit to take my coat off. Sigh. I would love to yell at my younger self - ‘you look amazing - get that coat off!!’ (plus that’s the last time you’ll ever be able to pull off a size 6 latex dress Hmm)

My favourite 80s make up products

A Yardley's Holly Red lipstick
Mary Quant Black Cherry lipstick
Dior bright blue mascara Spacial Blue

I haven't read the whole thread, so someone else might have mentioned this: Keeley Hawes in Ashes to Ashes

Blue eyeliner inside the bottom lid, always ended up with blue gunk in the corner of your eye.
Navy blue eyeshadow and a shimmery shadow above.
Amethyst shimmer lipstick, think it was Rimmel.
Mahogany shaders and toners until I dyed my hair black in 1982 Smile
Loved it, wanted to be a member of Bananarama.

@TopTabby

So happy that someone else remembers Twilight Teaser: a shimmery cardiac arrest lilac. Worn with electronic blue eyeliner/mascara or purple eyeliner/mascara, the whitest, matte-est base imaginable and an indescribably crisp, scrunch dried perm, set with Hard Rock hairspray. I loved the 80s ❤️

So grateful to have been a teen in the 80s, when eyebrows were left untamed. As a result mine remain luxuriant. If I'd come of age in the 90s I'd have little thin lines of brow to play with

Exactly what i have now . My eyebrows are outraged at the frenzied tweezering that befell them to make them look like angry sperm.
They are all "Nahhh why should be bovver . you're just at at with the Tweezermans"

If I do get an unruly long browhair now I do a sort of comb-over and maybe trim with scissors .

I love love love 80s makeup.. did then and still do! Obviously don’t wear it daily but any excuse and I do. Luckily I work somewhere where we get to dress up quite often. I did a Siouxie Soux a couple of years ago. I adored going to work like that… and round Tesco’s after! Smile

Electric blue eyeliner!! 😁 😂 With that tiny sponge in the end of the pencil for 'smudge' 🤣

I was a child in the 80s but remember being a bridesmaid in 1988, at my auntie's wedding. Her DH's younger sister was 10, I was 9, and I was very jealous of her crimped blonde locks, and sandals with a small heel. My mum had done my straight brown hair in a French plait and put me in pink satin ballet shoes, and I wanted to look grown up like the other girl. My granny kept muttering about how ridiculous the other girl looked, how common. I was never allowed to crimp my hair, although my mum did let me get a perm at 14. I looked like Brian May...

Windywuss, the colour changers were Constance caroll and were the best, mad colours that were pink when warm but turned purple if you got cold

I found my mums old 60s lipstick and wore it every day, dug it out of tube. It was a pink white colour I loved it so much. Tried and failed to find similar. Turquoise eyeliner on bottom lid and black on top with flick on inner and outer edge. Huge hair too
