Things I want for autumn that may or may not exist

I’d like a green (proper leaf green) pencil skirt and a flat/low heel pair of red lace up leather or suede boots which aren’t clumpy like DMs. Not to be worn together, I just want some.

I don’t think these things exist!

Any mythical items you want for autumn?

A plain wool knee length kilt - black plum or charcoal, with a proper leather strap fastening - to wear with thick tights and boots - would kill for such a garment

stainesmassif · 01/09/2021 11:42

I've been looking for a cape-ish poncho in navy or black, with a straight bottom, no frills, pompoms or tassels. in a cashmere mix. it seems like it's too much to ask. a half circle. I should just learn to knit.

ZooeyS · 01/09/2021 11:49

Can I join in please! I want a really chunky yellow roll neck like the one Esther Coren wears in the Saturday Times.

NellWilson · 01/09/2021 13:16

Embassy London Shoes. I would have every single pair they have but look at these

Well I’ve just bought the phase eight orange jumper lol.

I’m on the look out for a kilt like wool skirt that sits just above the knee to wear with thick tights and boots. I’m a size 18 with a big bottom and don’t want it too short. Preferably in plum, dark blue, black or would consider green.

Would also like some black biker type boots under £100 in a wide fit. Some nice light weight scarves in autumnal colours

HenslowesDiary · 01/09/2021 15:58

I would like a forest or pine green jumper. Not too cropped, slightly shaped body rather than square, not too chunky knit, not a roll or crew neck (a sort of slouchy neck that I'll know when I see it), not itchy.

So far had no luck - hopefully later in the season.

Oblomov21 · 01/09/2021 16:11

Watching. I need quite a few bits atm.

Livinthedream84 · 01/09/2021 17:24

@HenslowesDiary I had this sent to me in a stitch fix box I don’t know if it’s any good? It feels so soft on not itchy at all

I love Embassy London shoes and boots! I have a pair of navy/pink brogues and a pair of red/gold boots I just need to be out and about again so I can give them justice!

Thank you - that looks lovely and the right kind of shape.
Might be a bit too teal-y though. Do you know the brand?

HenslowesDiary · 01/09/2021 17:42

Actually goigling that Lilian etc description takes me to Apricot which may have some contenders so thanks again.

Pigtailsandall · 01/09/2021 18:41

Actually I think what I'd most like/ need for autumn is something between a coat and a jacket. At the moment, I have a blazer and a leather jacket - and the next step up is a long woolly winter coat. So something for cooler days before winter truly hits us would be great. Not really sure what I'm looking for, though

This sort of shape?

Thank you. Yes to the shape. But in a more neutral colour. And possibly less nubbly!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/09/2021 20:20
@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie I used to have a skirt just like that and I’ve mourned it for years, I loved it. I can’t even remember where it was from, possibly somewhere like Great Plains. It was close to 20 years ago though, would love to find one again.
I think mine might have been from Richards - I loved that shop!

BangingOn · 01/09/2021 21:26

@Livinthedream84 I would also love the skirt you describe, black or dark green would be amazing.

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie I had a beautiful black dress from Richards, one of the many high street shops I mourn.

@SirVixofVixHall

I think it was “blue and green should never be seen” ?
Red and green should never be seen except on a fool. Reference to a court jester
RosesAndHellebores · 01/09/2021 22:31

I've always known "blue and green should never be seen" but I have always thought they go well together.

Livinthedream84 · 02/09/2021 09:08

@HenslowesDiary it’s by a brand called editors cut :) might be worth a google so you can see in a different light. In real life it’s more of a forest green rather than teal

KnobJockey · 02/09/2021 12:15

@Pigtailsandall a coatigan/ long cardigan? Don't ask me why Zara has styled them with bras though 🤷‍♀️

Pigtailsandall · 02/09/2021 12:39

@KnobJockey lol, the styling is so odd sometimes. It frequently puts me off buying from Cos in particular

I have a coatigan but I feel like it makes me a bit frumpy (maybe that's why they've styled it so blatantly sexy) and they're often not great at keeping a bit of wind out. I think what I'm after is more of a lined, woolly blazer or a thinner winter coat. I can't seem to find any (maybe they're not in stock yet!)

Or these? Not bought from that shop before so can't comment on fit or quality.
