Is this too sheer and / or too bridesmaid-ey for a wedding I’m attending (in March Grin ) I plan ahead….

I'm seeing the green one too, I love it. Would be gorgeous on a bride for a forest wedding or as a bridesmaid dress. Too bridesmaid-y for a guest, imo.

AnyFucker · 22/08/2021 13:40

If you like green, this is a gorgeous green gold colour here

HeartvsBrain · 22/08/2021 13:52

It is a beautiful negligee.

KickAssAngel · 22/08/2021 13:59

The black floral one clearly has an extra layer down to thigh length, so it's only totally sheer beyond your main body. I also don't think anyone would genuinely think it's a dressing gown. If the bridesmaids aren't wearing green then go for it. I assume at that price that is good quality material and not cheap nylon, so it should be lovely.

Wandawide · 22/08/2021 14:04

I see green.
Can you carry the deep neckline or displaying so much leg?
I am envious because I am just too ample.

Dazedandconfused170 · 22/08/2021 14:04

I can’t see anything wrong with it at all, the fact it’s green means it’s not bridal one bit!
Yeah maybe check what the colour scheme is at it could potentially pass as a more casual bridesmaid’s dress.
People wear all sorts to weddings these days
Go for it :)

fluffiphlox · 22/08/2021 14:06

I got married in March. It was freezing.

ilkleymoorbartat · 22/08/2021 14:07

Think if you accessories it in non bridesmaidy accessories / shoes it'll be great.

Durbeyfield · 22/08/2021 14:12

I love it.

Winnona · 22/08/2021 14:15

I really like it OP.

Mochudubh · 22/08/2021 14:40

It looks better in the standing up photo, the crouchy down one it looks a bit like a negligee.

I think it's a bit too see through for a wedding and probably cold in March.

MrsMoastyToasty · 22/08/2021 14:46

285 quid and it's made of 100% viscose. No
285 quid and it's made of 100%silk . Maybe .
although i wouldn't spend that much on a single garment

RampantIvy · 22/08/2021 14:52

Why is the link sending me to the green dress and others to the white one?

I am on my laptop BTW.

AllyBama · 22/08/2021 15:09

I’m on my phone and I saw the green one. I think I it’s gorgeous and absolutely fine for a wedding. FWIW I think the dark floral one would be another great option.

5128gap · 22/08/2021 15:11

The green dress isn't bridal. It's just the styling with the flowers in her hair that makes it look that way. With suitable bag and shoes it's fine for a guest.

maofteens · 22/08/2021 15:25

If you got it in the floral print it wouldn't look bridesmaidy. Plus once at the wedding people will see that you are dressed differently and not part of the wedding party.
But the link does default to the dress in white which I think caught some posters off guard.

Graphista · 22/08/2021 16:24

The green is gorgeous, depends how you style it, make it a little more casually styled and it won't look bridesmaidy.

No fascinator type headwear and watch the shoes and you should be fine

mstroutpout · 22/08/2021 17:36

I think the early negative replies were becausw it came up white. In green it's perfectly acceptable and a lovely dress.

gunnersgold · 22/08/2021 17:47

In that colour? I don't think it's etiquette to look remotely bridal !

EmmaGrundyForPM · 22/08/2021 18:05

@gunnersgold it's green not white. The OP clarified that earlier.

gunnersgold · 22/08/2021 18:08

Yes I saw after posting .

MalagaNights · 22/08/2021 18:26

It's lovely and totally wedding appropriate.

Unless its an Amish wedding.

People here are nuts about wedding etiquette.

Look nice and don't wear a long white dress or carry a bouquet are really the only rules.

HandforthParishCouncilClerk · 22/08/2021 18:29

The green one literally is the bridesmaids dress I’m wearing to a wedding next spring, so it’s a no from me!

MalagaNights · 22/08/2021 18:54

Bridesmaids often wear dresses which could be worn by other guests or at other occasions.

Just don't wear a flower crown carry flowers or walk around behind the bride and it will be obvious you're not a bridesmaid.

PalmsandCharms · 22/08/2021 19:00

It's beautiful. Would be amazing as a wedding guest dress.

I'm really intruiged to see what some of the people who say it's not suitable would wear themselves for a wedding 🤔
