Decent gum leggings?

LacksAnyImaginationAtAll · 17/08/2021 22:23

Can anyone recommend some decent gym leggings that won't break the bank but won't show my pants/cellulite? There are some reasonable pairs on the decathlon website but not sure if they're as squat proof as they claim?

Sigh. GYM leggings.

Sweaty Betty Power leggings (multi buy them in 2s) or any Lulu Lemon. For a (much) cheaper option, H&M aren’t bad, but I had some dreadful ones from sainsburys. It’s like they weren’t even properly stretchy and dug in in all the wrong places

ConfusedParticle · 17/08/2021 22:39

Another vote for sweaty Betty here, but this time the super sculpt. I go a size up in these as they really, really hold you in, but comfortably. They literally shave off any wobble, honestly.
I am 5'4 and the full length wrinkle a bit at the ankle, so prefer the 7/8 length.

ConfusedParticle · 17/08/2021 22:39

oh, and I am dying at the title, my imagination went full tilt Grin

I’ve tried tons and you can’t beat Asda ultimate gym leggings. They even have a pocket. They are fairly thick material and have a good waistband.

Cluckycluck · 18/08/2021 07:48

Another Sweaty Betty vote but it's the Zero Gravity ones for me.

fiorentina · 18/08/2021 13:43

Definitely agree with Sweaty Betty power leggings. I’ve tried lots over the years but they are great. Often have good offers on and their sales are good.

TeamRick · 19/08/2021 06:41

M&S gym leggings are really good for the money! I have quite a few pairs.

LilyGlobe · 19/08/2021 07:40

Gymshark. Some of the light colours aren’t great but the darker colours hide everything. The training leggings are about £25 I think but the adapt range are my fave.

HelenHywater · 19/08/2021 07:42

Sweaty Betty definitely

I was at a yoga class behind a woman who wasn't wearing SB last week. It wasn't pleasant!

PurpleDaisies · 19/08/2021 07:43

Sweaty Betty power leggings on sale are my favourite.

M and S good move with the pocket on the side are much more reasonable and look good.

Under Armour have some great ones too. I’ve bought them pretty cheaply through the sport pursuit website.

FourEyesGood · 19/08/2021 08:17

Another vote for Sweaty Betty. I bought several pairs of cheap/mid-price leggings in my search for good ones; I should have just bought SB ones from the start because the others were a waste of money.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 19/08/2021 08:21

Sweaty Betty are brilliant but another option is Rainbows and Sprinkles if you like bright patterns, although they do a plain black one. They're on 3 for 2 just now as well.

PurpleDaisies · 19/08/2021 08:22

I don’t think it’s sweaty Betty or nothing. There are others that are squat proof and much less pricey.

Twilightstarbright · 19/08/2021 08:27

Another vote for sweaty Betty power leggings. I buy in the sale, although there’s often a 20% off code if you search. I’ve had some pairs for years and they are going strong.

Gymshark Energy+ uk.gymshark.com/products/gymshark-energy-seamless-leggings-black

Currently put of stock though ☹

MrsTophamHat · 19/08/2021 08:36

I wouldn't pay sweaty betty prices personally.

I find the Matalan ones are quite good and well priced

devildeepbluesea · 19/08/2021 08:37

Sturdy By Design. Half the price at least of Sweaty Betty, really funky designs and they've just launched a plain black range too. Completely and utterly squat proof.

Gherkingreen · 19/08/2021 09:03

I've tried lots of different brands and have settled on Matalan (big surprise!).
Their leggings are long (I'm tall), thick fabric, squat proof, high waistband that never rolls down, are brilliant for running and are inexpensive.
Worth trying for £15 a pair.

Moonflower12345 · 19/08/2021 09:14

I won't pay SB prices either. I find them very overpriced for the quality!

I like asda, as a previous poster said, or 90 degree by reflex from TK Maxx (£20 a pair and excellent quality)

linerforlife · 19/08/2021 09:17

YES MATALAN LEGGINGS!!! So good for running and the gym. I'm a size 16 and they're BRILLIANT. Not see through, high waisted with a waistband that doesn't dig or ride up/down. Comfortable and wash well. I've had one of my current pairs for 4 years and they're still not see through.

SusannaM · 19/08/2021 09:30

I've never found any connection between quality and price with gym leggings. My favourites for the gym are Asda - thick, stretchy, nice high waistband, second favourites a friend gave me from Costco in the US, thick, stretchy and have fabulous thigh pockets. My worst have been Adidas, which laddered horribly. Helly Hansen have been OK, in that they have a strip around the bottom of the legs to stop them riding up, but a bit thin and short waisted.
North Face for outside in winter, wind blocking and warm and my favourite running pants are Aldi - properly long (I'm tall), ankle zips, drawstring and have lasted for ages, I'll be gutted when they go.

UnusuallyUsual · 19/08/2021 09:44

I love next own brand leggings. The are high waisted, hold everything in and never roll down. Lots of different colours/patterns and lengths. I have several pairs

MagpiePi · 19/08/2021 09:47

I've just looked at the gymshark website - what is it with their leggings sizing? I'm a reasonably normal shape but according to them I am an XS in the waist and an XL on the hips. What size would I go for??

PeaAndHamSoupFromAChicken · 19/08/2021 09:49

I like the actives from Lucy Locket Loves. Squat proof, comfy and stretchy, but they stay in place even when I'm doing yoga.

Lots of different prints but also plain coloured ones if you prefer. If you're not at all fussy over the prints then you can save even more when they have lucky dip offers on.
