Decent gum leggings?

Can anyone recommend some decent gym leggings that won't break the bank but won't show my pants/cellulite? There are some reasonable pairs on the decathlon website but not sure if they're as squat proof as they claim?

...although I do like that their models are not all skinny twigs!

randomsabreuse · 19/08/2021 09:51

I've found Sweaty Betty good value for money as they last more than twice as long as ones half the price. Aldi can be good - but not always and the sizing is fairly unpredictable - plus the best ones never seem to come back.

I also love Tikiboo, price is more or less the same as the sale sweaty bettys though.

Not convinced by Gymshark. The training ones don't stay up on my shape and the speed are great except the pocket is millimetres too small for my phone and the inside leg seam showing signs of wear after 5 runs - my lightweight Aldi ones (from pre DC2) have lasted much better.

NeverTalkToStrangers · 19/08/2021 09:51

I find H&M good for the price. Being able to go to a shop and physically try them on is a huge advantage.

Nice. Skinny twigs? How is that acceptable?
Shirleyphallus · 19/08/2021 09:54

Another vote for sweaty Betty, I love their yoga leggings which are so comfortable but hold in everything

someonelockthefridgealready · 19/08/2021 09:58

I have the trail running leggings from Decathlon that are really nice and I've worn them loads. Otherwise, I go to TK Maxx and try on a load, as it's hit and miss which ones work.

junebirthdaygirl · 19/08/2021 09:58

I like the Gym+Coffee ones..Nice colours too. I often recommend them as find them good myself. Have sales too.

SprayedWithDettol · 19/08/2021 10:00

90’ by Reflex are brilliant.

Overoptimistix · 19/08/2021 10:00

I buy these ones: CRZ YOGA Women's Naked Feeling Gym Leggings Squat Proof High Waist Yoga Pants Sports Tights with Pocket-25 Inches https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07GZKPPWC/ref=cmswwrcppapiglttfabcGB41X5QMTRE3C0ND1X2J?psc=1

They have a pocket and are thick but not too thick to run in. I have the fleece lined version too which I wear all the time for walking.

MagpiePi · 19/08/2021 10:08

Obviously what I actually meant was:

"...although I do like that some of their models are not very thin which, for me, makes it difficult to judge what size would be suitable for me, as my body shape would be classed as 'not very thin', and I haven't found their size charts particularly helpful, but all body shapes are equally worthy and body shape in no way infers any assumptions about any other aspects of their character"

Is that OK? Is it allowed to acknowledge that people have different shaped bodies without it automatically being assumed that I am being disapproving or predjudiced against whatever it is that has been mentioned?

PurpleDaisies · 19/08/2021 10:13

Don’t be disingenuous @MagpiePi. You know calling women “skinny twigs” has connotations that “some of the models aren’t very thin” doesn’t have.

There’s a way of saying it that isn’t body shaming thin women.

Nurseynoodles · 19/08/2021 10:18

Gymshark quality is variable and sizes not consistent.

I love SB Powers but someone recommended these www.amazon.co.uk/QUEENIEKE-Leggings-Pocket-Running-Tights?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 and they are dupes for SB at a fraction of the price. I have pretty much every colour now.

randomsabreuse · 19/08/2021 10:19

A lot of sports wear is modelled on people who look like they spend all their time in the gym. It's good to see a variety of body types from traditional model, to glutes and legs that have done a million squats, to more soft and padded types like me.

Having a variety of heights makes it easier to judge the 3/4 or 7/8 length decision (very unlikely to fit "full length" in most sports brands at 5'6...)

Nurseynoodles · 19/08/2021 10:19

Sorry, no idea what happened to link but search for queenieke on Amazon and you’ll find them.

CatherineTheNotSoGreat · 19/08/2021 10:21

I'm a Sweaty Betty fan too, tho I loathe the price. I find they're the only ones that don't scootch down. I think it might depend a little on your shape as to what leggings you find work for you. I've tried and wasted money on loads of cheaper brands in the hope they would stay put but no, they haven't stayed put and my monet was wasted and my hackles raised at the constant hoiking of legging.
I run and don't do any much gym so I like the Zero Gravity ones. For squat-proofness I would think you'd need the Power leggings

DrRamsesEmerson · 19/08/2021 10:22

Sugar Pocket are good and reasonably priced.

CatherineTheNotSoGreat · 19/08/2021 10:25

money was wasted, obvs Monet doesn't give a fig about my legging fit. And I don't own a Monet to waste.

curiouscatgotkilled · 19/08/2021 10:29

Mine are all from Next and are excellent. especially the ones with the pockets, very handy. Im size 16 and do some very high impact classes and they hold everything in nicely and you can pull the up nice and high which I like.
They are about £25 a pair.

AlbertBridge · 19/08/2021 10:30

I always find loads of posh workout leggings in charity shops. Usually with the labels still on. It's like a rack full of New Year's resolutions.

randomsabreuse · 19/08/2021 10:30

My Zero Gravity leggings are a size bigger than my powers and definitely not squat proof. I'm happy with then for warm weather running which is what I bought them for. The Powers are slightly warmer and stay up well even with phone in thigh pocket, unlike my Auriques (which were also disappointing on durability).

I went through a phase of leggings being "prizes" for running achievements - hence going above my previous price point of £20/pair. Won't be going back to cheap leggings other than some Decathlon ones.

1CheeryBlossomx · 19/08/2021 11:08

I think if you were to go for xl they would be massive on your waist! The energy plus are high waist and snug but stretchy where needed. I have xs (between xs and small so sized down) and thought they were tiny when they arrived, legs looked far to short but they stretch very well!

1CheeryBlossomx · 19/08/2021 11:09

Sorry, should be for @magpiePi

Dollyparton3 · 19/08/2021 11:37

Another vote for H&M leggings, they last and look good forever and somehow seem to be able to suck my tummy in whilst also hiding any camel toe. They're little miracle leggings

PurpleDaisies · 19/08/2021 18:49

For the Sweaty Betty leggings fans, if you’re getting insiders week emails, I got £30 off a pair of power leggings today. It was a 40% off any one item code. You have to spin for it but my suspicious nature thinks everyone gets one.

I got 30% off dresses and jumpsuits Sad. Probably a good job really because I don't need any more leggings or vests.
