Can’t see a thread so I thought I’d start one. Yes, it’s unbelievably early, but I noticed Glossybox have already revealed their Advent Calendar contents for this year. Saw this reveal on YouTube this morning:

Have to say it doesn’t wow me, but there’s plenty of time and many more Advent Calendars to come, I’m sure! Grin

@BunnytheFriendlyDragon

Fenwick has been good in the past. I tend to find the ones with a few make up products more exciting
Same. I don't need any more makeup, although I do like cream eyeshadow in nice colours that I can use as eyeliner.

Few wick did a GWP just before Christmas last year. That was really good too

I don't think there is one. A matrix of retailer, summary, price and rating would be great as I am a newbie too and I'm trying to keep track of the comments but getting a bit mixed up!

The best place to look for advent calendars and their contents is here:

beautyadventcalendar.net/

New ones are being posted most days. Then follow the chat here and ask for people’s opinions on any products you’re not familiar with - someone should be able to answer.

I’m very attached to the SpaceNK one now. Liberty’s will have to be pretty amazing for me to swap.

Window1 · 28/08/2021 16:35

Any thoughts or experience of the Clinique calendar?

£95 with contents worth £220.

Theoldprospector · 28/08/2021 18:26

I am quite disappointed in this year’s calendars. They are very similar to last year’s.

TinyTroubleMaker · 28/08/2021 19:54

I was holding out hope for CB but now quite meh about it. I want to be excited by an advent calendar!

ashmts · 29/08/2021 12:15

@Window1 I quite like Clinique products but I don't like single brand calendars, they can get quite boring.

Argh I thought I had decided on Space NK but I've looked at it again and I'm not that taken with it. Same with Cult Beauty. I find a calendar with makeup in it more exciting to open, but having thought about it I actually get more enjoyment out of using the scents/room sprays/bath oils. I'm actually now leaning towards F&M. Keen to see what's in Fenwicks, Selfridges and Liberty before I commit though. Any idea if F&M is likely to sell out soon?

Betsy88 · 29/08/2021 13:56

F&M had sold out quite early in the past - I know they only had 1000 calendars a couple of years ago, but that might have changed now. I’ve missed out on it before because I dithered - but it’s hard when you want to wait and see what the other calendars have to offer.
I’m hoping Liberty and some of the others reveal their contents this week (Liberty did their reveal on Sept 1 last year).

MidnightMeltdown · 29/08/2021 19:50

F&M only ship within the uk so I don't think that it sells out as quickly as some others (last year it was still available after the pre-order date, so I don't think that it sold out until sometime towards the end of October?). Having said that, I wasn't willing to risk missing it so have already ordered mine on the pre-order!

The trouble with space nk is that much of the value is stacked on that £90 eye serum, so you have to really want that serum to make it worthwhile IMO.

Housewife2010 · 31/08/2021 11:15

I love that Liberty has niche scents every year. They are always the items I look forward to most. I had it for three years but changed after it became quite samey. I do wish that Cult Beauty and Space NK included scent. However, they shop internationally so don't contain any products that can't be sent abroad. Liberty get round this by having an international version which substitutes the perfume and similar products with legally posted items.

PomRuns · 31/08/2021 11:26

Come on Liberty- we’re waiting !!

SocksAndTheCity · 31/08/2021 11:34

I cracked and ordered the Fortnum's one ConfusedGrin

PomRuns · 31/08/2021 11:51

I might crack too 😳

wheresmyshoe · 31/08/2021 12:04

I'm holding out for Liberty or M&S or a wild card alternative if those disappoint. I won't buy two as I have a stash of products to use up.
I might be completely unrealistic in wanting to love at least 90% of the contents if a calendar is over £150.

ashmts · 31/08/2021 14:39

I almost cracked this morning with F&M! Willing to wait another few days and then I think I'll have to commit. I've been watching Planning with Crystal's videos on Youtube and I'm now pretty certain I don't want Space NK or Cult Beauty. Selfridges 2020 calendar looked brilliant, I can't remember why I didn't get that one in the end, so that's really the one I'm holding out for. I can't justify two luxury calendars. Looks like they released the contents last August so surely not long to go?

I've also talked myself out of H&B after watching the video, I think I'd use the stuff eventually but I don't need more things to clutter up my bathroom.

HolyFuckingCuntBalls · 31/08/2021 15:06

@OchonAgusOchonOh

Fortnum & Mason one is available now to order.

Another one that won't ship to Ireland post-brexit. Very frustrating.

Liberty does look pretty. I'm thinking of going a bit more up market this year than previously. So maybe Cult Beauty or even something like the Liberty one.

Hey @OchonAgusOchonOh

I feel your pain. I'm sending loads of stuff across to my mum in Dublin at the moment in return for Steller, proper Taytos and chocolate kimberlys.

PM me if there's something you want - happy to help if I can.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 31/08/2021 16:03

@HolyFuckingCuntBalls - thank you. You're very good.

A Tayto story you might appreciate - years ago, a friend in London got a hankering for some Taytos. She headed down to the corner shop in hope. She asked did he have Taytos only to be told "No. But I have Cidona"

HolyFuckingCuntBalls · 31/08/2021 16:19

@OchonAgusOchonOh Brilliant :-)

listentomydeclaration · 31/08/2021 17:59

Was thinking of getting DD (13) a beauty advent calendar but which one? She's just starting out in makeup - lots of eyeliner, eyeshadow and contouring. Also into curlers, acrylic nails, eyelash extensions and hair dye. Not much else make up wise.

What's the best starter advent calendar?

I would like an advent calendar that is good for working from home bits and pieces (not paperchase - was shit last year). Also jewellery.

What about this one? (If you have a bath)

ashmts · 31/08/2021 19:56

@listentomydeclaration what's your budget? I wonder if the Hedwig one is a little young for a 13yo who's already into fake nails and hair dye. What about Soap and Glory? Or the ASOS one might be good but AFAIK the contents for 2021 haven't been released yet.
