Which dress? (Photos)

Further to an earlier thread with great advice, I've settled on the Hobbs Twitchell dress style to go to Henley regatta at the weekend. Only thing is, there are two fabric patterns available and I like both!

(Brief background is I've recently lost weight, and whilst two sizes smaller than I was, still not entirely body confidant and don't know what's most flattering to buy now. I left it a bit late to sort something out, so whilst I probably could have done better with more time, this is where I'm at.)

Which fabric would you go for? I'm leaning towards the bolder one as I feel it's more flattering but DH literally went 'gosh it's bold' which makes me think it's a bit too much. I'm more of a shrinking violet so it might be a bit too 'in your face'.

Also shoes. I want to wear the ones in the pic as it's standing up on grass nearly all day and I don't have any other colour shoes with block heels. If I went for the bolder colour dress, could I wear those shoes? Again I know not ideal but I don't have any others apart from flats.

Please be gentle, I'm exposing myself to the world here with photos!

(And sorry for the crappy camera angle, I was having to body block the baby from crawling round the stair gate).

I am by no means a fashion expert but if you want my two pennorth I like the first dress better, the black and white leafy pattern one.

Pinkstegosaurus · 09/08/2021 16:38

Love the bolder one but I’m a sucker for mustard! Gorgeous dresses on your figure too, you look fabulous! I’m no authority but I think those shoes look fine and comfy for either dress, hopefully someone more knowledgable will confirm.

Have a lovely time!

hellosunshineagainx · 09/08/2021 16:38

Definitely the first one

ADress · 09/08/2021 16:38

Thanks! I need to name them don't I! I hereby christen them leafy and wavy.

The second with the mustard is more flattering 👍🏻

Umberellatheweatha · 09/08/2021 16:39

I like the first one best.

Doidontimmm · 09/08/2021 16:40

I love both, very flattering, I don’t think the mustard is hugely bold and I’d go for that one. Shoes look good too :)

dontgobaconmyheart · 09/08/2021 16:40

I don't actually think either are approaching 'bold' OP, though I know these things often feel it when they're outside of a comfort zone.

I much prefer the black and white dress, it looks lovely on you and appears to fit better. It's also more likely to be something you wear again and can style with a much wider option of bag/shoe colours when wearing again

Hope you have a lovely time!

ApolloandDaphne · 09/08/2021 16:41

In like leafy the best.

TottiePlantagenet · 09/08/2021 16:42

Not the yellow one.

The b&w dress is far more flattering.

GrrRightBackAtYou · 09/08/2021 16:43

First one - leafy.

tolerable · 09/08/2021 16:43

absolutely agree, the first one is definately more flattering.it actually gives quite a bit more leeway re shoes to.the sort of nude blocks are ok..what flats you got..? you could add colour flash co shoes bag?
well done on weightloss.thats superb.

Barwell76 · 09/08/2021 16:45

I prefer the first one. It looks good on you.

imnottoofussed · 09/08/2021 16:46

Definitely the leafy one

featheryfancy · 09/08/2021 16:46

Wavy is my favourite of the two however, both look lovely.
With the mustard, I'd find that easier to dress down so would likely get more wear out of the second too.

atlastifoundit · 09/08/2021 16:46

The black and white one would be best. Not all that keen on the other one myself.

ActonSquirrel · 09/08/2021 16:46

Ooh lovely OP, both of the dresses look great on you.

I do love Hobbs too! I like them both, I prefer the second one and your choice of shoe with it looks great too.

SprayedWithDettol · 09/08/2021 16:46

The first one.

jerrywesterby · 09/08/2021 16:47

The second one is far classier! First one looks like something you could buy in Sainsbury's

ActonSquirrel · 09/08/2021 16:47

I think the second dress is navy? Not as harsh as black and the pale blue softens it too.

BreakfastOfWaffles · 09/08/2021 16:47

I think leafy is more flattering and also a bit more the norm for Henley. The style of shoe you have is good to go with it.

AdaColeman · 09/08/2021 16:48

I think that the floral leafy one is by far the best, it seems to be a better fit, and is much more flattering on you.

The shoes are lovely and summery, but for standing around on grass all day, think about wearing flats.

Have a super day! 🥂🍾

AustinPowerful · 09/08/2021 16:48

Definitely the first one- leafy! I don't like the pattern on the 2nd one or the mustard colour

Bluntness100 · 09/08/2021 16:49

I also think the black and white leafy one is much more flattering, and also much more elegant, it looks great on uou

Well done on the weight loss! You look fab.

SpeakingFranglais · 09/08/2021 16:51

The B&W one, it’s very flattering and seems to fit nicer, it’s also classier IMO.
