Scent is so personal it's virtually impossible to select one that's been recommended! A lot of the ones mentioned in your replies are anathema to me. A friend loved Amarige and it made me heave! Anyway, take your pick from this lot!

Chanel 19, No 5 smells like bleach/disinfectant on me.

I also like Champs Elysees but I think it might be a bit too sweet now, I’m mid fifties and wonder if I’m too long in the tooth for it.

You can never be too old for a perfume if you like it! I bought Chamos Elyeeses for my mum who’s in her 70s- it never occurred to me that age was a factor- I just thought it was a classy pretty scent for her! She loved it BYW

I've been wearing Sublime by Jean Patou since it was launched in 92.
It has changed a little but I still love it.

@Geamhradh So that's what makes the current Diorella smell so strange -- compliance with EU regs! I wonder what was in the original to make the boffins in Brussels turn up their noses? Maybe the insect-repellant-like citrus; it certainly kept the man-pests away from me!

Barbara Herman in her wonderful book on vintage scent likens Diorella to "“Fur rubbed with mint toothpaste. Vietnamese beef salad. Like fruit on the verge of going bad"
and if I remember on the perfumista thread we used to talk about it having that skanky after sex sheets vibe.

I'd say quite a few of yours do! Carnal Flower has definitely got a skank vibe. And Coromandel made me actually shriek in horror the first time I tried it at an airport, it was a visceral "omfg what is this?" Then it settled and I realised it was a masterpiece. I like almost all of your list- we must be perfume twins!

Lady Vengeance by Juliette Has A Gun and Volutes by Diptyque. Both last ages and you rarely get that awful moment where you meet someone wearing the same scent.

Back in the day I loved Obsession by Calvin Klein (the original before they changed it). I still have a bottle and every now and then I put it on. Just a single drop as it's so powerful and only at home because it's unfashionable now.

Like a pp, definitely Flowerbomb and La vie est Belle These two are just intoxicating!

For summer scents, I also really like Daisy by Marc Jacobs, Light Blue by Dolce and Gabbana, and Hogo Boss Ma Vie and Femme

Recently I've become a bit obsessed with Byredo , each of theirs just smell so.... different. Love them
