I don't really mind if it's expensive if you can't beat the smell?

Tea for Two by Artisan Parfumeur. I have worn’ It for 25 years. It was discontinued but there was a sustained campaign to bring it back and eventually it was.
Also in summer Eau des Jardins by Clrins.

DumpedByText · 05/08/2021 23:30

La Vie Est Belle by Lancome is beautiful and I always get comments when i wear it. Also Flowerbomb by Victor and Rolfe is gorgeous to.

disconnected101 · 05/08/2021 23:45

I also loved the original Marc Jacobs fragrance so much, also now sadly discontinued.

Oh same. I decanted the last bottle of parfum I bought into a little atomiser to keep in my bag and the effing thing leaked. Sad
My bag smelled gorgeous but it had a big stain on it. Fs.

disconnected101 · 05/08/2021 23:50

I used to like Chloe Innocence. I think it's discontinued.
Has the original Stella fragrance been discontinued?

Summerxoxo5 · 05/08/2021 23:59

Mon Paris YSL is my all time favourite however Zara has some amazing fragrances, - Wonder Rose is gorgeous! I get more comments wearing that one than the more expensive ones and at £14.99 for 200mls you can’t go wrong! Lasts all day too! 💕

Germolenequeen · 06/08/2021 00:00

@Geamhradh
I saw those - did they smell OK? 😅

Nannyrose17 · 06/08/2021 03:04

I love it too,I also love Next Gold

TinaYouFatLard · 06/08/2021 03:11

The only scent I had regular compliments on was a Guerlain called Hot Couture. I loved it but think it’s discontinued.

Also love Jo Malone Honeysuckle and Davana and just found a Gucci Floral that I really like.

TheMontyBoy · 06/08/2021 03:48

Pomelo by Jo Loves

ohthestruggles · 06/08/2021 04:15

Van cleef & arpels feerie. I think it's discontinued. They claim to sell on Amazon and there's a few bottles on ebay but I'm just not sure if they are the real deal/won't be seriously out of date Confused

arcof · 06/08/2021 05:10

I love Chanel Chance Eau Tendre, I can't find one I like more tbh and I always get asked what it is.
I got Lancôme Idole recently as more of a evening option but I just can't get on with it. Will try some of the suggestions on here!

Seasidemumma77 · 06/08/2021 05:19

White Diamonds EnRouge by Elizabeth Taylor, only perfume which my DP compliments

groovergirl · 06/08/2021 05:52

I'm having to hoard some of my favourites because they've been discontinued or are now so hard to find they're wildly expensive.

Eau Parfumee au The Vert Extreme (Bulgari) -- discontinued, on eBay for $550!
Murasaki (Shiseido) -- only in Japan now.
Diorella and Dolce Vita -- beautiful '70s and '90s scents by Dior.

Luckily I've found a new one to love, which is Nomade by Chloe. It makes me think of a hot desert whose shrubs have suddenly burst into bloom. Smile

LovelaceBiggWither · 06/08/2021 06:01

I got a sample of Lubin's Upper 10 and I am in love with it. It's like a grown up version of Penhaligon's Elixir.

LipstickLou · 06/08/2021 06:41

I work in beauty and use to own a specialist perfumery. What I would recommend is write down your favourite scents plus any appealing smells, grass, lemons etc. Fragrance is linked to memory. Take that information to a proper shop, Liberty etc. There is a wonderful book called perfume by Tanya Sanchez. Sarah Mccarthy fron 4160 Tuesdays has also launched one this week.
Guerlain never retire their fragrances but may not make them available outside of France.
For me you cant beat First by Van Cleef and Arples.

VerbenaGirl · 06/08/2021 07:38

I always come back to Clarins Eau Dynamisante. Gorgeous smell.

beckyboops · 06/08/2021 07:49

@therearenogoodusernamesleft Laura mercier ambre vanille. OMG it's my absolute favorite. People ask me all the time what perfume I'm wearing

Geamhradh · 06/08/2021 07:49

@groovergirl, Diorella is still available but has been reformulated because of EU regulations. It's not as madly different as many reformulations, but it's not the gorgeous skanky Diorella of old. I pick those up on eBay.

I was also Hmm a few years ago to find the Dior assistants on the counters didn't know as much about their products as you might think. I was after a bottle of Miss Dior (original- not the sweet flankers they churn out these days) and they kept pushing all of those onto me. Finally someone went into a cupboard and came out with what I was actually asking for.

beckyboops · 06/08/2021 07:54

Gucci bloom
The new Valentino one not sure of the name but it's got spikes on the bottle
Tom Ford eau de soleil

Sunshine2007 · 06/08/2021 08:04

I always come back to Issy Miyake, I just love it. A new fave is Glossier “You”. Always get comments on it when I wear it.

LBB2020 · 06/08/2021 08:37

@therearenogoodusernamesleft diptyque eau duelle is a lovely spicy warm vanilla, perfect autumn/winter perfume

I can get original Diorella on Etsy from time to time. The modern version isn’t too bad.

I also prefer Miss Dior Originale to the pink new version.

spagbog5 · 06/08/2021 08:53

Portrait of a lady by Frederick Malle is my absolute favourite .
Sadly since having covid it smells like hairspray to me but I'm hoping this will pass eventually Confused
It's been 7 months so far !

LazyDoll · 06/08/2021 09:05

Tom Ford Soleil Blanc and JM Pom Noir. Just love both of these! Tempted to try the Honeysuckle JM now after pp.

Luckyelephant1 · 06/08/2021 09:21

Chance by Chanel Eau Tendre but I don't think I've tried enough other perfumes as I always end up getting this as I love it so much.

Would love any recommendations of something similar. I love fresh, floral crisp but strong perfumes although I have become partial to some stronger, oudy type scents too. I hate sweet smelling perfumes.
