How much lip filler for a first-timer?

KhalliWhalli · 27/07/2021 06:31

I am booked tomorrow for lip filler as my lips have got very thin as I’ve got older. May I ask those of you who have had it, how much you would recommend? The options are 0.5 ml and 1 ml.

Thanks.
@YellowandGreenToBeSeen I agree actually. The lady who posted her pic on this thread didn’t have that and her lips looked lovely.
She did (no disrespect to that poster). You cannot have lip filler without that ridge. People who say they have and it looks natural - that's their perception. You can always tell. It's just that most people accept that trade off.

KhalliWhalli · 28/07/2021 20:06

You need a bit of definition at the vermillion border.

Well. That’s the debate, isn’t it?

One has definition at the vermillion border in youth. It’s a definition of youth.

Having the the vermillion border when one starts to naturally age is not ‘needed’.

Getting older shouldn’t be hidden. The alternative is far worse…

Ps *lipliner

KidneyBeans · 28/07/2021 20:54

@YellowandGreenToBeSeen

‘Bore off’ is such an infantile response.

It’s a public forum and, like it or not, fillers are polarising. The pressure on (mostly) women to be ‘better’ via tweakments is becoming more and more commonplace. People are going to have an opinion.

For what it’s worth, I’m not a fan and see so many bad jobs (and @HeyMicky, whilst yours are absolutely on the more ‘natural’ end of the scale, the upturned vermillion line does give it away. You may not care & I agree my opinion should be irrelevant to you. Only mentioning as you put the photo online, ITMS?).

I’ve also seen so many bad jobs where the filler (which is cross linked and therefore immovable) is injected into the wrong place. Hence trout-pouts and bulbous lips.

As a result, I'd advise you go for the lowest amount possible.

People are welcome to have opinions. That's how different threads are started.

However it's bad MN etiquette to derail threads with opinions, and rude to make unpleasant commentaries on photos of posters who have not sought opinions.

I find it bizarre that so many posters feel that their need to share their opinion is SO Much more important than just being decent Confused

HeyMicky · 28/07/2021 20:57

You're right. I don't care

excelledyourself · 28/07/2021 21:09

@HeyMicky I'm really impressed with yours. I do think it's often quite obvious, but yours is spot on.

KhalliWhalli · 28/07/2021 21:10

@HeyMicky Your lips look amazing. I hope you don’t mind, but I showed the doctor your pic and said, “this please!”

HeyMicky · 28/07/2021 21:12

To be clear, I'm not advocating for or against fillers 🤷🏼‍♀️ I have also not suggested mine look natural or not.

The OP asked about healing times; I provided two examples.

lozengeoflove · 28/07/2021 21:19

@HeyMicky your lips look gorge! Where did you get it done?

FogHornInTheAttic · 28/07/2021 21:23

I had 1ml between both lips.feel like need more.

pigglepot · 28/07/2021 21:24
@HeyMicky Thanks so much for posting the photos. Your lips look great! I am flying on Sunday so won’t be able to do it in 2 appointments, so I will just go for the 1 ml.
I would start with 0.5ml unless you have a relatively big mouth. I've always had 0.5ml. I would have found 1ml too much and too obvious

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 28/07/2021 21:24

@KidneyBeans can’t see where I’ve not been decent. Have acknowledged it’s an ongoing conversation or debate in which questions were asked and I chose to answer. Haven’t been rude.

And absolutely fair point @HeyMicky and apologies for pulling you in to an unwarranted debate.

pigglepot · 28/07/2021 21:26

Sorry ignore my post just seen you've already done it! You can gently massage to remove any lumps and bumps when the tenderness goes down.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 28/07/2021 21:27

*although I do believe ‘post a photo = expect comment’. I wasn’t unpleasant, merely posting I was able to see the ‘work’.

Without wishing this to be about the poster who posted photos, I can see an upturned line / unnatural volume at the Cupid’s bow.

Pretty rude to post an unasked for critique 🤷‍♀️

Oh no, that's fine! Smile It's a public forum, go for it. I'm not concerned what other people think about my choices; I just wanted to give the OP an example of expected healing

Again your opinion. Micky didn't post asking for opinions/debate/critique. She posted to be kind and help the OP.

You're the one that has unilaterally decided that gives you the right to critique her lips and debate your opinion on them when it's very clearly not why she posted.

That's what I mean. I don't understand why some posters feel so entitled to give their unasked for and uncomplimentary opinion.

I have an upturned vermillion line.... and it's totally natural. All my dc have it too. Thanks for suggesting we must all look fake. Hmm
YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 28/07/2021 21:46

@KidneyBeans sure. All valid points.

Except… (mostly) women augmenting their face to fit in with youth, beauty, normality.

Not for me

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 28/07/2021 21:49

@honeybuns007 no desire to offend - if you read the thread, I.made it quite clear that natural is beautiful. Lucky beautiful you and your kids!

ArabeI · 28/07/2021 21:51

I too still have a naturally upturned vermillion line and defined cupid's bow, @honeybuns007.

Janaih · 28/07/2021 21:51

@honeybuns007 dh is one of those rare people that have a larger top lip than bottom. An acquaintance of mine once commented on a Facebook photo why is he making that ridiculous duck face, it looks very silly. Awkward!

Fine. No one has suggested you should have a cosmetic procedure that you don't want Confused

Only that it's odd to continuously insert your unasked for critiques of other posters's choices into this thread

charliebear78 · 28/07/2021 21:53

I have not had it done to fit in.
I have always hated my lips since I was a teenager
I have never worn lip stick as I think it looks ridiculous on me.
I have wanted it done for years and today finally did it!
I did it for me and so I feel better about myself..what is wrong with that?
