Oh my goodness! That's quite a story. Imagine going through that vast fortune in only a few years! He was certainly a character.

@Maireas - I think it's this one - Royal Regiment of Scotland brooch.

I'm now just trying to decide which brooch I'd like to 'bag' alongside my tiara.

Good spot, @RomainingCalm.
My brooch will be the Cuillinan 😍😍

Ill and IV or V....
I don't mind!

I'll have the Lover's Knot I think. I do rather like the New Zealand Silver Fern but two would be rather greedy. Smile

Maireas · 09/08/2021 23:11

I think, @RomainingCalm, that there's probably enough for two each!

I share common ancestry with the Marquis of Anglesey. Sadly none of those riches came our way!

Eaumyword · 10/08/2021 10:51

Surely they wouldn't have missed one little tiara, Startup?! After all, you are family Grin

latedecember1963 · 10/08/2021 11:37

If you to Plas Newydd on Anglesey (now Nat Trust) there's an exhibition all about the Marquis of Anglesey. He certainly knew how to throw a party!
In the dining room there's a mural painted by Rex Whistler which is beautiful and very clever how he tricks the eye as you move around the room.
He was a close family friend and was in love with one of the daughters but I think she married someone else. I suppose it would be quite romantic to have a painter be in love with you, but in those days marriages involved more practical concerns for the well to do.

Talking of Wales, Princess Leonor of Spain starts boarding school in Wales next week. I suspect she'll not find summer dresses and espadrilles not much use!

OP posts:
KillingMeDeftly · 10/08/2021 15:15

It'll be wellies and anoraks all around for poor Leonor!

Maireas · 10/08/2021 15:21

Max's daughter is going there as well!

Will there be a formal exchange of greetings I wonder. Ceremony. Gifts. The whole shebang.

Wellies and knitwear then. I’m sensing a ‘royal junior’ line by Hunter or La Chameau coming up. With tiny little tiaras 🤔👸🏻😍
Eaumyword · 11/08/2021 18:04

Tiny little tiaras! Grin

Maireas · 11/08/2021 18:32

Brilliant!! I'd love to see Max attend a parents' event - in style!
Leti would probably just wear khakis and a white shirt.

amillionmenonmars · 11/08/2021 18:43

Tiny Little Tiaras would be a great name for a shop.

KillingMeDeftly · 11/08/2021 19:02

I think Mathilde's daughter is there too, although she's a bit older so may have left by now.

Maireas · 11/08/2021 19:06

That school seems to be very popular with European royals - future monarchs, no less!
Perhaps George will go there!

OP posts:
CliffsofMohair · 11/08/2021 19:12

Why so popular? I assume IB not A level?

Maireas · 11/08/2021 19:18

Yes, they do IB. It's an international school founded by Kurt Hahn (of Gordonstoun fame). It seems to be about community and leadership. Quite liberal values.

OP posts:
KillingMeDeftly · 11/08/2021 19:26

Definitely not one for the British royals then @Maireas!

Maireas · 11/08/2021 19:29

☺️☺️☺️👍

I used to live near Atlantic College. It's in a fabulous setting

CliffsofMohair · 11/08/2021 19:50

Community and leadership. Princess Anne and HMQ would fit in.
