@frugalkitty "I'd love to go to KP but haven't got anyone who wants to go with me."
Don't let that stop you.
I live in Ireland and always wanted to go to Althorp to the Diana exhibition that was on a good few years back. It's not dh's thing. DC not interested. I didn't say it to any friends as I thought they'd think I was nuts 😀
I went on my own. Stayed in London and then did a day trip to Althorp by train and bus.
So glad I did.
It took a lot for me to do it alone but so worth it.

KillingMeDeftly · 08/08/2021 13:24

I wonder what made Charles and Diana choose St Paul's for their wedding? It must've been quite a departure given most big royal weddings were at Westminster Abbey.

SenecaFallsRedux · 08/08/2021 13:26

I think they chose St. Paul's because it accommodates many more people to attend.

KillingMeDeftly · 08/08/2021 14:23

I guess it'll be a good 25 years before we see a PoW get married again!

KillingMeDeftly · 08/08/2021 14:24

What title, if any, does George get when William becomes PoW? Will he become the Duke of Cambridge or will he just be Prince George of Wales? @SenecaFallsRedux I'm sure you know the answer!

KillingMeDeftly · 08/08/2021 14:26

Actually maybe the latter as I'm not sure Edward VIII got a dukedom when George V became PoW.

JacquelineCarlyle · 08/08/2021 14:31

@frugalkitty I'm planning to go alone to Kensington Palace as neither my DH nor any of my friends are interested. Just need to find a child-free day to be able to attend!

Maireas · 08/08/2021 14:47

I would guess that George would become Duke of Cambridge when his father becomes Prince of Wales. However, a royal Dukedom is usually conferred on marriage, so maybe he'll just be Prince George until/if he gets married or until he becomes PoW.

SenecaFallsRedux · 08/08/2021 14:48

The current tradition is to confer a dukedom on marriage. When William becomes PoW, George will be HRH Prince George of Wales. William would remain Duke of Cambridge as well so that title would not be available until William becomes King and it merges with the Crown.
So George would have to be Duke of Something Else while Charles is King.

KillingMeDeftly · 08/08/2021 15:00

I guess that would make William Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall AND Dyke of Cambridge. That's a lotta titles for one man!

KillingMeDeftly · 08/08/2021 15:00

*Duke of Cambridge 😬

Onprozacandmyhighhorse · 08/08/2021 15:10

I went to KP back in June to see Diana's dress. One of the videos was of Elizabeth Emmanuel talking about the colour. She said they definitely didn't want to go for white so took inspiration from (I think it was) Queen Victoria's wedding dress. It's definitely a deep cream now but the material is beautiful and the embroidery absolutely gorgeous. Well worth seeing.

SenecaFallsRedux · 08/08/2021 18:16

I would like to see the dress, but I have to admit that I don't like it very much. One of my deep sartorial prejudices is a dislike of puffed sleeves. And I was married in the 80s when that style was still influencing wedding dress fashion; it was hard to find anything understated, which is what I was looking for.

KillingMeDeftly · 08/08/2021 19:31

Some of Maxima's greatest hits. Not sure about the beige gown with trilby hat combination!

CliffsofMohair · 08/08/2021 21:54

Happy Birthday Princess Beatrice. Looking gloriously happy with life. Love the polka dots

MotherofPearl · 08/08/2021 22:11

I also that was an odd combination Killing. She certainly knows how to wear strong colours and bold accessories.

KillingMeDeftly · 08/08/2021 22:11

I always remember Beatrice's birthday because my younger sibling was born the day after and just missed 8/8/88!

I pride myself on delivering random Royal fashion….

… and nothing could be more random than newly ennobled Princess Delphine of Belgium. She the newly recognised Princess of Belgium.

Today we see Delphine wearing a dress that er… matches a car she designed. The Art Car. I remain absolutely fascinated with HRH Delphine of Belgium.

Not sure how to add photos, but some beautiful pictures of the Spanish princess tonight, I am envious at how they manage to look so stylish and gorgeous at 14 and 15!

I screenshot or download image and add via the little paper clip at the botttom.

Of course DH remains amused when pics of Euro royals randomly pop up in ‘memories’ on his phone

Maireas · 08/08/2021 22:32

More Max! Thanks, @KillingMeDeftly
Great chartreuse and purple outfits. She doesn't disappoint, but should avoid beige!
Love the mahoosive hat.
