@Softpebbles you look awesome. Definitely go for more fitted. You have a cracking figure and today's outfit is really flattering.

KiteflyingKat · 09/08/2021 13:22

Summer is back Grin

@Softpebbles oooh I am tempted by Grensons as well. Fab outfit today 👌
I didn't get a dry robe, to be honest it's probably a little unnecessary as the water in Devon is so warm in comparison to up here in the north sea that all I really need is a towel robe, I just ordered off ebay for £20!
I would get a dry robe if my sea swimming continues up here into the colder months - I am seriously tempted but they are so expensive I want to be sure I would use it a lot before investing.

@KiteflyingKat please can you send summer up this way a bit? Spread the love Grin

Well I've just ordered a selection of boots from the Grenson's sale thanks to you @Softpebbles and @Sooverthemill.

I'm basically a country lass (lite version) nowadays so footwear that fits my muddy lifestyle takes precedence over style most days... but I feel with these we may have found something that elevates me from straw and animal covered bag lady into passable in normal company.

Shannith · 09/08/2021 16:09

And yes @KiteflyingKat, please bung a bit of summer this way. Today I've worn full waterproofs, shorts and a vest and now back to winter joggers and a hoody.

toastfiend · 09/08/2021 17:24

Ah, thanks for the lovely welcome back, it's nice to be back on the thread!

Everyone looks great today. I love your summer outfit @KiteflyingKat (although can't say we've had much summer weather here lately!)

Your clothes haul looks amazing @Sooverthemill. I am lusting after that striped jumper now, it's gorgeous!

Ooh, what did you go for from Lucy & Yak @20FlowerPower?! Smile

I've been in an actual office today, but it's very casual. New role is mostly wfh, but I periodically travel to the office (which is quite a way away but I'm loving the opportunity to be sociable again and the drive is quite a nice time to listen to an audio book and drink a coffee!) Excuse the messy room and dodgy 5.30am photo... 😂

Top - H&M
Trousers - Lucy & Yak
Trainers - Philip Hogg

Worn with a black denim oversized jacket from Topshop.

I’ve been doing a little bit of shopping, and now need to decide what to keep.

Dress: Jigsaw (sale)
Trousers: Jigsaw (sale)

KiteflyingKat · 09/08/2021 22:02

The return of summer didn’t last long - now back to torrential rain Sad

@toastfiend love those trousers. Are they current stock?

Softpebbles · 09/08/2021 22:02

Love the trousers @OublietteBravo😊

Not so keen on the dress.

Justonedayatatime11 · 10/08/2021 00:17

Love the dress @OublietteBravo

Sooverthemill · 10/08/2021 08:36

Hoping it warms up as forecast suggests, I have so many summer clothes I want to wear!
Tee: Boden
Skirt: kemi Telford ( last year sample sale)
Sandals: Birkenstock’s
Will inevitably add a sweatshirt!

Sooverthemill · 10/08/2021 09:02

@OublietteBravo I love the trousers. The dress not so much. Is it for work only? I would love to see you in something more like your fab Boden silk shirts! Jigsaw sale is great isn't it?

Sooverthemill · 10/08/2021 09:03

@toastfiend great trousers. 5.30 am start feels hard

Rollerbird · 10/08/2021 09:08

Love the trousers @oubliettebravo
Dress is good too but big love for the trousers

OublietteBravo · 10/08/2021 10:00

We seem to be in autumn here. (It’s August and I’m wearing tights).

Jumper: Jigsaw
Dress: Warehouse
Trainers: Gabor

PalacePaper · 10/08/2021 10:13

@OublietteBravo I'm going to go slightly against the grain and say I really like the jigsaw dress. @Sooverthemill I also love your fair isle cardigan. Autumn clothes are my absolute favourite.

I'm wearing new look t-shirt and warehouse skirt. Chilly today, I may need to add tights!

Later I'm collecting some jeans from the tailor. They were from a charity shop, brand new with tags still on, but too long and a bit loose on the waist (perfect on the hips though). It's cost me three times the price I paid for them to have them tailored Grin

Sooverthemill · 10/08/2021 10:35

@PalacePaper you look great today! Getting jeans tailored is really sensible I bet you still paid less than RRP!

MeridasMum · 10/08/2021 12:11

Newbie here, wondering if I can join in?

I've just pored over these pics and you all look amazing.

My lockdown weight gain has sapped some of my confidence in my clothes. Plus, I've always struggled with looking 'put together' rather than merely hanging together!!

Today I'm in jeans and a white T-shirt - some of you have shared pics wearing this and have pulled it off and looked stylish. I don't feel that I do Confused

Sooverthemill · 10/08/2021 12:22

@MeridasMum welcome and you look fab! We are our own worst critics don't forget!

KiteflyingKat · 10/08/2021 21:53

No photo for me today, I’ve been on sick child duties so hardly looking glam!

In other bad news, I seem to have ruined an expensive new jumper, which I put in the wash with a blouse which turned out to still have the spare button in the little plastic bag (the one attached by the plastic thingy) attached. Anyway, my beautiful fine knit jumper has come out with various holes Sad
I’m airing it dry then will suss out the full extent of the damage tomorrow. Let’s hope it’s fixable. Gutted.

@MeridasMum welcome! I’ve also struggled with my image during lockdown. I actually stopped posting on these threads for about a year as I just felt so rubbish. But actually these threads give me a bit of motivation to actually get dressed (!) on work from home days. I also find photographing myself each day really helps me figure out what looks good/bad and also identify what works on me - it’s made me realise I prefer shirts over T-shirts for example.

My DC starts at school (in the preschool) in Sept and I’m going to treat that as a fresh start in terms of being well groomed (or at least better groomed). I currently do the nursery run looking a complete mess but DC starting the school where she will be until age 11 is motivating me to make an effort - I want to be confident in myself to get to know the other parents & as DC gets older I don’t want her to be embarrassed about her mum! Over lockdown there’s literally been occasions when I’ve avoided talking to people on the street as I’m so ashamed how I look, which is crazy as I’m in a relatively new town & keen to make friends.

20FlowerPower · 10/08/2021 22:49

Welcome @MeridasMum

I'm in a grump as I've been trying and failing all night with my Lucy & Yak parcel of goodies. It is impossible to tie the dungarees straps in a reasonable way!!!! And the jeans are sooo high they literally touch my bra strap. So I've given up Sad Most of the parcel is going back but I have kept this jumpsuit (no straps Grin) and I am actually really impressed by the quality lucyandyak.com/collections/boilersuits/products/juni-linen-cotton-sleeveless-boilersuit-in-black

I've other parcels arriving from John Lewis and Ted Baker in the next few days. I will be gutted if they don't work out well either!

20FlowerPower · 10/08/2021 22:50

Oh and @KiteflyingKat I was exactly the same when DS started school Grin The school run really can feel like the only reason I make an effort some days!

Shannith · 10/08/2021 23:48

@obliettebravo yes to the dress. I'm not sure about the trousers - you've got nicer ones I think.

Actual proper sunshine today so the evening garden party was lovely.

A friend came over beforehand snd we were like kids getting ready. I've not worn proper makeup, heels or hairspray for about 5 years.

Dress - Ted baker - £10 charity find
Necklace - fat face (£1 charity)
I was wearing some Jones wedges but the dress is very long and dog got in to be way.

Thanks for the welcome messages

I love that jumpsuit! I saw someone wear Jaki joggers earlier on this thread which I love and am planning to buy. Also, I was served an add for their jumpsuit/dungarees. I'll share a pic if you've not seen them. I love them but wonder if they'll make me look like a Tellytubby? 😂 Thoughts?
