Frumpy or not?

Are these frumpy or ok? (They are a pewter colour, not black)

Frumpy or not?

Not my bag at all but I would say they go with the dress, style-wise.

TheVampiresWife · 28/06/2021 22:15

I love them!

Comedycook · 28/06/2021 22:16

Hate this type of shoe. I consider it more hipster than frumpy though

IToldYouIWasCummins · 28/06/2021 22:19

Nice!

HalfBrick · 28/06/2021 22:20

Like the shoes, though can't help thinking if you wear a chunky necklace with that dress you'd look like an art teacher / arty older person.

HalfBrick · 28/06/2021 22:22

Which isn't a bad thing! But very much 'a look'.

EmpressSuiko · 28/06/2021 22:36

Sorry but all they made me think of was Mrs Doubtfire, not the kind of shoes I would think of as trendy or fashionable, sorry!

PandoraP · 28/06/2021 22:42

Depends on the person. On my it would be frumpy.

TheVampiresWife · 28/06/2021 22:44

I think shoes like these have a whiff of dark academia about them which is anything but frumpy!

Time40 · 28/06/2021 22:50

I don't think they're frumpy. They probably are a bit cool ... but my god, I think they are SO ugly. You would have to pay me an awful lot of money to wear those.

Theawkwardblonde · 28/06/2021 22:55

Sorry, I think they do look a bit frumpy. I think it's the wedge that does it-if there was a flat version they would likely look nicer.

coronabeer · 28/06/2021 22:57

Those shoes and that dress together... looks like you're off to a convent., minus the wimple. But what do I know? I'm probably frumpy as anything.

Blossomtoes · 28/06/2021 22:59

You posted about these shoes and the dress before. They’re both a million miles away from frumpy.

ItchySwissRoll · 28/06/2021 23:02

Had a broken leg and bought them while hobbling on crutches, oh my, they are so comfortable, an absolute dream to wear!

I like them because they're slightly androgynous which makes me think they look cool.

coronabeer · 28/06/2021 23:03

Tbh, you probably shouldn't take advice from anyone in this section without having first seen their photo. I have seen threads where people have talked about their trendy, stylish haircut or similar and then post a photo of themselves looking anything but trendy or stylish.

A bit like baby names... why ask someone what they think of the names "Emma" or "Adam" when their idea of good name is "Buster" or "Tablecloth"? (opposite also true).

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 28/06/2021 23:17

I love the shoes but I think that with the dress it’s all too much.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/06/2021 23:36

I like both and would wear them together.

Providora · 28/06/2021 23:55

I like them (though like a pp would prefer them flat) but as a winter shoe with tights. I think the bulk of that dress would be offset nicely by more delicate shoes.

QueenBee52 · 29/06/2021 00:16

I wear similar to these for work but mines are steel toe-capped safety issued 🤣

MoltonSilver · 29/06/2021 00:20

Go for it.

Monty27 · 29/06/2021 00:22

@Wearywithteens

Oh dear I’m obviously not cool AF because to me they look like footwear you’d get on prescription 🤦🏼‍♀️
Phew! I thought I was alone 😯
ZednotZee · 29/06/2021 00:23

Nah they are awfully frumpy with that dress.
Unless you are under twenty five, a gamine size 8 who wears dark framed glasses ironically and carries a battered leather satchel.

You could make them work by wearing them with shorts or a mini dress I suppose.
Or cigarette pants and a bardot top.

On the whole I kind of dislike them.

LunaTheCat · 29/06/2021 01:55

I like them - but probably in Autumn/Winter.
You could wear bright socks with them and the dress.
I wear this look a lot - I am mod 50s though😉

LunaTheCat · 29/06/2021 01:56

Sorry bit typo - mid 50’s not mod 50s ( although I like to think I am both)

I agree, I think the dress is awful but on the model I can see the asthetic although I don't like it. On someone who is anything but those proportions I think it would look so frumpy as well as the shoes
